@Faye of the Archipelago All you need to do is look at what they produce. Just put "Death to Communism!" as a tag line and I guarantee it's a hit. I'm fine with the occasional shoot 'em up, but for the larger part I actually like a little intellectual substance in my movies. I'm weird like that.
@Col. Fujikawa Toshiro You know, every time you post all your chest-thumping rhetoric and threats, decrying the evil gaijin you hate so much and going on about your supposed cultural superiority, it honestly reminds me of Luke 18:9-14, the story of the Pharisee and the Publican.
First the Pharisee comes to the altar, and as he prays he gives thanks to God for not being like other, less Godly men, whom he then proceeds to list off in a very self-righteous tone, thus highlighting his own holiness in the process, even mentioning the Publican next to himself, before making sure to mention how often he fasts, and gives large tithes.
Then comes the Publican, who won't even stand before the altar, not because he does not respect the Lord, but because he does not consider himself worthy.
He stands back from the altar, casts his eyes to the floor, beats his chest for shame, admits to God that he is a sinner and asks the Lord's mercy though he knows full well he can never deserve it.
I am not so bold as to call myself the Publican in this story, but you, Toshiro? You are most definitely the Pharisee.
Nobody is impressed when you threaten war, little man. We're here any time you're ready to put on your big boy pants and get started.

Consider Saint Peter who, when he cut off the ear of one of those who sought to apprehend Jesus at Gethsemane, was soundly rebuked by Jesus (John 18:11). Saint Peter later told us that when Jesus “was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.” (1st Pet 2:23). And, as the verse (1st Pet 2:21) before it says: "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps."
An eye for an eye only makes us all blind, and that was never Our Lord's intention. He wants us to see with eyes wide open.

@Marianne Dowd I have never bought the idea that Jesus was a pacifist, Ms. Dowd. His rebuke of Peter could easily be said to be due to Peter's interfering in God's plans, and when His Apostles went into the world, did He not counsel them to carry swords? Then of course there is the Temple Courts, where Jesus found the moneylenders and merchants, polluting God's places with worldly business in a way He found offensive. He did not politely ask them to leave. He overturned tables, picked up a whip and thrashed them until they ran away.
I do see that Jesus opposed needless violence, and He counseled us all to love each other, but He was by no means an outright pacifist. He had limits, and if we follow His example, so should we.
I live in a nation which is loathe to go to war, not because we lack courage, but because we believe individual liberty is important, and war tends to strengthen governments, and harm liberty, so we keep out of conflict whenever possible, but if the good Colonel and his people ever find their balls and attack us?
We will be here.

@Axel Lavoie: Luke 22:35-38 is often cited to challenge the Christian pacifist perspective. Yes, Jesus does command His disciples to carry swords, but that was not to exhort them to commit violence. In fact, we find the true reason in the passage itself: He instructed His disciples to buy the swords, “for it is written: ‘he was numbered with the transgressors.’”
According to Luke 22:38:"They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”
What use is two swords for twelve men?
In telling His disciples to acquire these swords, He referenced Isaiah 53:12, which contains one of the many Old Testament prophesies concerning the life of the Messiah. Jesus wanted the swords present when he was arrested, because the presence of the swords would indicate to those arresting him that he was one of the “transgressors,” that he was leading a violent rebellion. Jesus again referenced this while he was being arrested in Matthew 26:55-56.
Earlier in this very chapter, He said to Peter:“Put your sword back in its place… for all who take the sword will die by the sword."
And earlier in Matthew's gospel:Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Brother Toshiro said that there was no pacifism in Revelation, but yet we find in Revelation 13:9-10:He who has an ear, let him hear… He who kills with the sword will be killed with the sword. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.
The Apostles themselves, when faced with certain death, did not defend themselves, but willingly loved those who killed them, as shown in Acts 7:60:“Lord, do not hold this sin against them!"
They faced their strife without resorting to respond in kind. We read in the epistles:Romans 12:14: Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Romans 12:17-21: Do not repay anyone evil for evil… live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink…” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Thessalonians 5:9: God did not appoint us to wrath…
1 Thessalonians 5:15: Make sure that no one back evil for evil, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
James 1:20: The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
1 Peter 3:9-11: Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing …turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
His example seems clear to me, and therefore I live in accordance with it. Let us, in turn, set our own example to the masses, that through it, they will see what truly matters.

@Faye of the Archipelago It isn't always clear when a question is rhetorical, and even when it is I sometimes like to give an answer, just to fuck with people.
@Marianne Dowd I feel this comes down to interpretation, but logically your stances makes less sense to me. What use are two swords for twelve men? If even two of them have swords and they are harassed, they have means of defense, and if Jesus only wanted a sword present for His arrest, as you say, then why did He say that any who had a purse should buy a sword? His admonishments that he who lives by the sword dies by the sword, taken as part of his broader philosophy, is more of a warning to avoid rash behavior, not to swear off violence entirely.
I could go into a lengthy dissertation here, but these kinds of debates tend to devolve into flame wars, which tend to attract moderators. Let it suffice to say, I respect your interpretation, but that honestly I feel it is based more on your own distaste for violence than on the word of Christ, and thus I must disagree with it.

As an Iraqi Christian I fear of what the "Iraqi Awakening Front" might do if they reach Basra, not only will they religiously cleanse the Shiite community but also the Christians as well. A lot of people here are accusing Lonograd of imperialism and saying that the Arab Liberation Front are there puppets, well at least they are Arab, the IAF are mainly made up of Turkish mercenaries and Nifonese troops who seek to enslave Iraq under SACTO tyranny and will use as a launch site for an invasion of our true Arab neighbour.12.02.2015 14;02| REPLY |

The logic is outstanding with this one. I also love the implication that factions who want Lonograd to conquer the Arab world on the basis of race lose their shit when you call them racist or imperialist; yet if someone went on a campaign to "unify" all lands inhabited by Europeans on the basis of unifying the White Race, those same people like decry the action (for what it is).
I mean, should I start the "Latin American Unfication Front (LAUF)" where we go around conquering all of Latin America just because we are similar?
