This afternoon The SomerNavy Special Forces have been deployed to the Anni Islands today (Monday 16th Ocotber) to help prepare the region for the landfall of storm Abigail. Storm Abigail started life as a small category 1 hurricane out in the southern Corentian sea, the storm has weakened significantly however The Somerlands Meteorological Association (SMA) is estimating winds in excess of 85mph could be experienced from Tuesday onwards.
The Special Forces will now assist the population of the Islands in fortifying buildings, monuments and other potential site of damage. The 2,000 strong unit has left its operational base in Thorsport and will take up residence on Ansval, the largest island, while running missions to the remainder of the islands. Rear Admiral Scott Nielsen was unable to comment but told CWN24 that a news conference was scheduled for 10pm SST once the initial fortifications had been put in place.

All schools on the islands are to remain closed until further notice, with most transport links to and from the island to be cancelled from midday today onwards. The SMA has issued red warnings for all of the Anni Islands and has also issued amber wind warnings for coastal areas on the Central Gulf.

Sunrisian Offer Debated

Members of the provisional government debated the Sunrisian offer of assistance following the end of the civil war.

The debate was one of the more contentious ones amid the delegates to the Constitional Convention. Members of the Islandr Coalition were largely in favor, whilst Republican members were divided fifty fifty between allowing and denying the assistance offer.

Ultimately a compromise was reached; the provisional government has sent a request to Sunrisian officials for technical and logistical assistance in providing key services to the islands. While the delegates did agree to the arrangement, anonymous sources within political staffers suggested that the compromise was only reached as a way of reducing the mainland's financial burden to support the islands.

Mainland Republican sources could not be reached for comment on the latter allegations.

Military Parade Marks 98th Anniversary of the Constitution

Today, the annual parades and celebrations of the constitution which prevented a civil war in 1919 took place in Talmov and Zalasid. The parade lasted 6 hours and featured speeches from the King and the Prime Minister. The Parades, which come after the nuclear devastation in POD, were marked by a grim setting as speeches by the King and the Prime Minister vowed support for the Anti-Stroman forces in POD.

When King Balthnir Kruzed III stood before the troops and gathered crowds, he spoke first of the Constitution which defined the powers of the King and the Government made in his name.

"99 Years ago, My Grandfather met with the Citizens of Zalasid after an unfortunate and bloody struggle which saw 2000 Talmovan men slaughtered in their own land. He had lost his father in that struggle and, as the Feudal Lords cried out for revenge, he chose diplomacy and peace as a resolution to the conflict," The King said. "98 years later, the system which he helped found is not only still present, but strong and determined to maintain the qualities of peace and stability which is sought to return to the Talmovay of 1919. It is because of him refusing the cries for war that this nation exists as it does and it is because the workers, in their righteous fury, chose to lay down their arms that we have peace in our nation."

Tremendous cheers rose from the troops as this was said, but quickly died down.

"It is with a heavy heart, however," King Kruzed continued, "That I see others have not learned our lesson. Instead of pursuing peace for the good of their people, they pursue power in the interests of greed and lust for what will never be theirs. Instead of stability for the sake of the future, they choose war for the shortsighted sake of a few. And, instead of restraint in interest of the people of the world, they choose nuclear war. The Communities of POD have been thrust into a terrible conflict which rapidly threatens each and every sovereign nation on this planet. They attack one another with the worst kinds of savagery and seek only to aid their own paths and force their own futures upon the world. There is no greater evil than to attack your own people with the savagery of an ape."

Silence followed as His Highness paused.

"We will not allow this to stand," he finally said firmly. "Let it be known that Talmovay takes a stance of nuclear disarmament everywhere and, in cases like these, we will not be afraid to fight for the sake of humanity and the people who's lives were so abruptly ended days ago. General Stroman is a terrorist deserving of death and he, as well as any who use nuclear weapons on their own people, shall see their fates accordingly."

The King then stepped down as silence enveloped the parade grounds.

Military to Assist with Quarantine -- by Martino Giannou

Following last week's outbreak of Glarea Cordis (or better known as Heart Gravel Disease) in the city of Patryma, the Certeian Defense Force has arrived to enforce the quarantine imposed by President Alexandros Lazarou on the city. The disease causes victims to experience an incessant sharp pain in their chest as it slowly damages internal organs, specifically the heart, and is highly infectious by way of contact with bodily fluids. It is typically lethal within a week if left untreated. Certeian medical professionals are working to come up with a vaccine against this horrible new disease but so far cases are treatable with strong antibiotics and water intake.

The outbreak began on Friday, dated 13th October when a man came into the Patryma General Hospital complaining of chest pains. He was being checked by a doctor when he suddenly collapsed and expired on the spot. A day later, the doctor experienced the same symptoms and medical personnel suspected the appearance of a new contagious disease. Further testing proved that there was indeed a new disease that had begun to infect citizens in the city and a quarantine was issued by the city government, enforced by local police. So far the disease has infected approximately 1,317 people and killed 24, mainly young adults.

Many citizens have expressed that there is no epidemic and that it is an elaborate hoax on the part of the government. The Ministry of Media and Communications has issued a reminder that these naysayers are harming efforts to curb the disease and has ordered them to cease broadcasting their lies or face punishment for spreading harmful lies. So far no arrests have been made.

The military's extermination of innocents

The "outbreak" in Patryma is a lie! The government is currently exterminating the local population which has expressed disloyalty to the regime and has invented this "disease" to justify the blockade. Two days ago we managed to get this image from an agent inside the CDF while a CDF colonel was executing 4 civilians. You can see someone's bloodied legs in front of a machinegun and burned out cars in the background. What kind of disease warrants shooting your own people with giant bullets the size of hotdogs and destroying their property?

We all know this is in retaliation to the rallies the city's people held in protest to the government's plan to build a new monument honoring the "honor" and "glory" of the regime at the cost of the people's homes that will be demolished. The city has never been loyal to the regime ever since they took power in the bloody coup of 1993 and it looks like the government's finally annoyed enough to deal with them. James Vigal Calls for Investigations into Certeian Actions

Grand Marshal James vigal has officially denounced the actions of the Certeian government, stating the lack of non-partisan involvement with the quarantine and the nation's tight control over media coverage of the crisis is preventing an accurate picture of events. This is especially true when other groups have come forward stating that the quarantine is nothing more than a cover-up for government backed extermination of peoples that have vocalized their disdain for the current regime.

In an official appeal to the Ceteian government, the Marshal has asked that foreign inspectors and doctors be given unlimited access to the quarantine zone to both conclusively establish the existence of an outbreak, and confirm or deny the possibility of an extermination operation. The Marshal went on to state that insurrectionist groups should stand down to allow international organizations time to conduct their investigations. Within the Reichstag, the vote to pass the SPE-Laws was successful; with Kaiser Siegfried approving the law before it had even passed. If the disease is as contagious and deadly as reported, then there must be an effort to quarantine it and create a vaccine." With Jim Carson nearing the end of his final term in two months. Many political analysts have taken a long look back on his last eight years as president. And from what you will see. Many people were happy with this president.

After winning the first presidential race on January 10th of 2009 James Bradley Carson came into office with promises of taking the newly acquired lands . First he went to work on the most important problem; unemployment. Under the Carson administration the program known as "Carson's Deal" took on the 11% unemployment rate and cut it into a third with government organization such as The Southern Settlement act which gave homesteaders or farmers land at an extreme discount with 11 years to pay it off. Or the Defense Drive Program that put military numbers from 12,000 to 35,000. Another popular program was the conservation act which put unemployed to work in national parks and on government land maintaining and cleaning them.

After crushing unemployment, Carson moved onto the agriculture crisis. With many farmers in the south of the country experiencing extreme drought. The Carson Deal put to work over 20,000 Jednotian Citizens building irrigation canals, desalination plants, and artesian basins.

The third and final large problem was the threat of communist rebels coming in from the jungles south of Jednota. With a small army of 12,000 and an almost non-existant military budget the armed forces were stretched too thin. With the increase in soldiers from the Carson Deal,
The Department of Defense was able to fortify the border and outfit the troops with new equipment by increasing the military budget.

With all of these problems out of the way the Jednotian economy prospered and saw a slow but steady climb. This slow climb wasn't what Carson had in mind. He wanted more out his country to truly put them on the map. Much to the peoples dislike, Carson allowed many mineral extraction companies to dig on government owned land. At first the populace saw this as useless. Many didn't believe there was anything worth mining below the ground until a rather large oil deposit was discovered in central Jednota. This oil deposit brought the economy of Jednota to unthinkable heights. The small nation of 6 million saw unforeseen wealth, but with it came problems. Many companies were convinced the rest of central Jednota was an oil hot spot and requested to buy more land. Upon buying large swaths of land in the Jednotian Savannahs. The companies began drilling but to no luck. The companies pulled out, leaving a devastated ecosystem where poachers freely roamed doing as they pleased.

To combat this problem Carson formed the Department of the Interior. This department worked to combat poachers and bring animals on the brink of existence back to normal numbers. This initiative saved two species from extinction. The department of the Interior also worked with local indigenous tribes to strengthen bonds with the federal government and the indigenous land of Jednota. Another challenge the country faced was a lack of infrastructure. After winning their independence from their dictators in 2007 the land they were allowed was extremely undeveloped with little to no infrastructure. The department of the Interior got to work paving roads and constructing railroads across the country. This spike in work also resulted in a lowered unemployment rate.

However after all of this work was done and the nation was on its feet the government wasn't as needed as it previously was. in order to save money the government fired much of it's employees only if they were guaranteed a job in the civilian world (most of which went into the oil business). A lot was done in the first eight years of Jednota's history. will the next president be any better? Or will they be worse? You decide.

Authorities Disperse New Attempted Demonstrations

Vesvai’s police has dispersed crowds attempting to start a new wave of anti-government demonstrations across Vesvai. The marches and gatherings were already in their early stages in many cities. Local authorities received permission to apply legal measures against those provoking civil disobedience and new unrest. Police physically dispersed the piling up crowds and put an end to the gathering demonstrations. For the most part everything was done peacefully, but the police did carry out many arrests of those seen as the most disobedient. The arrested would be placed under temporary incarceration and let go in several days maximum. The exemplary arrested are said to be let go on the next day after incarceration. Many authorities are investigating the possibility that the demonstrators may have been armed.

Having recently returned from a state visit to Oblaren, PM Matthew Praeterit addressed the problem at the Parliament. He applauded the professional actions of the police and their ability to do everything peacefully. PM said how important it is to protect the Constitution and said that Vesvai would not submit to the blackmail of people, who want to control the situation by undermining the law. The Head of Government reminded that an investigation into alleged electoral fraud is underway, so the demonstrations have no motive. The opposition, other parties, public activists and NGOs were accused of having a hand in all demonstrations. PM was exceptionally strict in his current speech. He said that if opposition politicians and public activists attempt to influence more demonstrations to cause more unrest, Vesvai’s government will be ready to arrest them for law violation and as national security threats.

Alastair Eden, Minister for Ventismar, is rumoured to be involved in the talks

It was revealed to the RCBC that senior government ministers from the Democracy Party, Social Democratic Party, Christian Democrats and the Green and Liberal Alliance have been involved in early talks with VU ministers regarding the process of federalisation.

This comes as a shock to the Capslandian public, who have supported the VU since Capsland's introduction into the organisation in 1976 and 1979.

The documents leaked included a rough draft for a 'Ventismarian Federation Constitution' as well as detailing logistical and political integration. It is rumoured that Capslandian and Felsinean ministers have discussed many aspects of federalisation with contributions from Lindian and Ripuarian diplomats expected.

While Allentyrian and Umbrellyan government have spoken out against federalisation, akin to many other nations around the world, it is expected that, should these drafts and talks become reality, the two governments would leave the VU before it can federalise. This has shaken the public opinion.

A 2017 poll on the VU's performance indicated that 84% of the population supported the VU's efforts both domestically and internationally. This is the highest level of support for any government institution - even the monarch.

The Executive Chancellor has not issued a comment on the recent leak as of yet.

Following his capture, General Ali had stated that all remaining HIS soldiers have surrendered, defected, or have been arrested or imprisoned, and that the high ranking HIS officers, generals, etc. have been executed for treason. Car crashes into border station, suspected Montedoran Insurgent attack, hunt goes on for man responsible

A car crashed into a border station in The Montedoran, it is suspected that the attack was deliberate and done by The Montedoran Insurgent paramilitary group dedicated to fighting for independence. The MIPG (Montedoran Insurgent Paramilitary Group) has been quiet for the past few years and this attack was new. No one was killed but a man inside was injured while in the toilet, the driver of the car had fled from the scene and CCTV cameras had got a description of him. He is of medium height, black haired, tanned and wearing a red shirt and blue workers trousers and is injured with what appears to be a broken leg, if you see such a man call the Central Police on 144 or Montedoran regional police on 141. The attack came in the early hours of the morning while cars were passing by the border, it reportedly sped up with no license plates on it before it hit the station, central police and Anti Insurgent Team (pictured on the right in the blue with balaclava in picture, armed central police on the far right in the white and grey) arrived quickly in a testament to the good response times of the police forces. The building had collapsed in on itself just minutes after the injured man inside named Darien Lunkov left in a confused state. At this moment the car is being looked at for any evidence though it does appear to have been put on fire, the flames have since been put out but smoke still comes from inside. Michelle Ahina has called the incident "Tragic!" as the MIPG have been lying dormant for a time, though it is worth it to point out that it may not be the MIPG though all sources point towards this. The border is not used. The post is only now used for documents and toilet breaks, though it is symbolic for local Montedoran as a building of depression not torn down to remind the local populace of what could happen.

In other news, Michelle Ahina has been accused of sidelining The Montedoran as no other way of solving the issue legally could be solved. Platinum Falcons has issued an official apology to the Certeian Government as new information has come to light over the ideology and mandate of the Free Certeian News. The Antellian Defense Forces, a force under the administration of the Imperial Colonial Defense Office, today made a large success in the fight against piracy in Sunalaya. Today, the HMS Barkentine and the HMS Gamma seized three pirate vessels suspected of raiding shipping for the past few months. They were spotted at 10:58 this morning, when the two naval vessels were making routine patrols and noticed three figures off of their starboard bows. The vessels had no identification, neither flags nor numbers, and did not answer hails. When the Barkentine and Gamma neared the pirates, it was clear that these vessels were not merchants. A large 37mm anti-aircraft cannon was lazily covered with blankets and hidden behind boxes, and appeared to be surplus from a World War II stockpile. The Barkentine prepared Royal Marines to board the lead vessel, while the Gamma fired warning shots to prevent the other vessels from moving or firing upon the marines.

After boarding the vessel, the marines quickly subdued the pirates - with three firing upon the marines in the engine room. These three were killed in the fight, and the rest were arrested. All of the vessels were confiscated by the Barkentine and Gamma, and they were returned to the Lord Nelson Naval Base in Carcola where two will be sold for scrap while the third will be auctioned off in two days. The 37mm weapon will be transferred to the Royal Reserves, where it may be used later if it is needed.

Radicals Attack Patryma Quarantine Checkpoint, 30 Dead -- by Martino Giannou


Another photographer had managed to capture this picture of Roussos' final heroic moments before he was forced away from the scene by CDF soldiers.

Earlier this morning at 7AM, a group of anti-government radicals raided a lightly defended police armory, stealing various pistols, shotguns and rifles. A few hours later at 11AM, a checkpoint on the south road existing Patryma came under attack by a force of around 50 armed men while emergency services were gathering for a brief before being deployed into the city. The first shot missed a soldier manning a heavy machine gun mounted on a truck, hitting the ambulance behind it and causing everyone to get down into cover. A hail of automatic fire followed, killing 2 paramedics and 3 soldiers before anybody realized what had happened.

A journalist named George Roussos was taking pictures of the medical personnel when the attack occurred. He quickly realized that the attackers was not only aiming for soldiers, but also civilians and medical personnel. He ran up to the truck to take cover just as the gunner was killed in front of him. He got up and removed the dead soldier before taking his place on the gun to return fire at these unknown assailants. A former soldier, his quick thinking and heroic actions had most likely saved the lives of the remaining civilians as his return fire managed to suppress the attackers long enough for the CDF to clear the civilians off the road. Unfortunately, a bullet hit him in the neck a few short moments later, causing him to rapidly bleed out.

President Alexandros Lazarou was in the middle of a meeting with his staff to discuss allowing a foreign nation's medical personnel into the city to assist with the quarantine when he was told of this incident. The President strongly condemned the attack on innocent civilians and ordered reinforcements to be sent to the city to assist the 3rd Infantry Regiment already in the city. He also announced that a single foreign nation will be chosen to enter the city with a medical team after the current situation is investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice.

Belantica Declares War On The Bohin After UQAF Aircraft Carrying Aid Supplies Was Shot Down
Recent actions od Belantica in The Bohin were peaceful, focusing on the delivering of much-needed aid to civilians on Molenston. That changed however when on Firday, A United Queendoms Air Force (UQAF) cargo aircraft was shot down near the Molenstoni-Bohi border region by anti-aircraft fire from The Bohin. According to the MOD, the aircraft was bound for the town of Wasenna near the border, and was on a run to deliver food, water, and a mobile generator to the town for civilian use. However, the plane was shot down about a hour out from the airfield, according to air traffic control in Wasenna. The pilots, airmen Jophn Gossling and Adam Bryant, made contact with ATC to announce their ETA, and again when the plane was stuck by AA fire, delcaring that they were heading westwards into Molentson to perform a crash landing, and shortly after, ATC lost radio contact with them. It is unknown where the plane crash landed, or the current condition of the polits, but it is assumed that both Molenstoni and Bohi forces are looking for remains of the plane and the two pilots, who are currently MIA. Word quickly got back to the RBN fleet stationed not too far away, when Fleet Commander Grace Holton made the decision to step up naval and air efforts, and is working along allied commanders to begin Belantica's attack on The Bohin. Prime Minister Mohoney had this to say.

"Clearly, The Bohin has no respect for nations that are trying to help the innocent with basic necessities such as food and water, they have shown this by shooting down one of our aircraft carrying such supplies. We don't just this as an attack on Belantica, but an attack on the people living in Molenston, and our allies who are also working hard to protect the people. At first, we did not declare war, as our focus was, and still is, on the ongoing humanitarian efforts, which we have plans to step it up even more. It is unknown if Commander Holton will remain in charge of Belantic operations in Ziamban, should ground focres be deployed to Molenston. Inside sources say that Princess-Consort Viktoria is a potential canidate to head up this operation as commander of an expiditionary forces to the combat area, or if it will be General Chris Fontane of the army. Decisions are still being made by the queen, the prime minister, and MOD officials on the matter, all we know is something will be done at this point, as Belantic efforts now include combat situations.

Ahina has had enough. The independence referendum has been annulled

Following "ridiculous" peddling back and forth, Michelle Ahina has declared that she has "had enough of the mess and disunity" declaring the independence referendum annulled and illegitimate. Even going as far as to say any future referendums will be illegal and declared against The Union. Today marks a terrible day for Molenston in the 4th Bohi-Malesti War. Port Ubbeval, the Southernmost port in Molenston was attacked along the coast and destroyed in a Bohi assault. The port, used for both economic and military purposes has its Southern side heavily mined to keep Bohi ships away and at a distance. The Molenstoni Navy as well as the Navies of its allies were stationed in deeper waters, so that if a naval attack were to occur, it would most likely go through them. But it seems like the Bohinians have chose a different route, sending in hundreds of fishing vessels to destroy mines quickly and then send in their heavy ships; destroyers and others to attack the port directly. Hundreds have been killed and even more wounded in the destruction, making it the first real attack during the course of this war.

On a similar note, the first offensive made by Molenston into The Bohin today ended in disaster as communications were lost and a combination of air and tank attacks left the Molenstoni Tank Division P in heavy disarray and damage.

"This has not been a good day for this nation." Said the Chieftain, "but we will come forward. We shall persevere and take down our enemies. We shall claim victory by the end of this and no life lost will be lost in vain."

Eubatian Technocratic Council Passes Bill 102

With a vote 13 in favour and 8 opposed, Bill 102 passes through the Technocratic Council of Eubatu and will enter into full effect by November 1st. Bill 102, proposed by the Council of Teachers will ban wearing any religious face-coverings, including but not limited to Hijabs and Niqabs worn by Eubatu's Muslim population, in all government positions and structures. So soon after the loss of a major port, the Molenstoni Navy has been hit by another disaster. This time, in the form of the MS Mendi. The MS Mendi; one of Molenston's four destroyers has been sunk by Bohi submarines, leading to the deaths of 143 sailors. The Bohi forces hit the MS Mendi quickly before escaping back into friendly waters. Commonwealth Submarines have been dispatched to take out the Bohin's strong submarine forces before another attack like this one happens again.

The President of Sunrisia and the Convet of the Second Republic of Sunrisia share the privilege to award the Honor of Hero Medal to those individuals they believe to have brought positive and exemplary impact on Sunrisia and the world, or those that performed self-less righteous acts with positive legacy. The most recent recipient was a human rights activist Gét Dîligít, who partook in the protests in Lucera and played an overall active role in the Revolution of Rebirth. Usually, the President is the one to issue these awards, while the Convet takes the position of the secondary award-giver. Today was the day, when the President took the backseat and the Convet took over the privilege.

The nation believed that President Nóv Fáustîtár and his administration deserve the Honor of Hero Medal for the peaceful self-coup of his government that created the Second Republic of Sunrisia, the present-day successor state of the First Republic of Sunrisia, which some view as a totally new country, better than any previous incarnation throughout the long national history. Today, that historical event in Sunrisia remains to be known as the Revolution of the Second Coming. As representatives elected by our country’s citizens responsible to voice national opinion, members of the Convet have come together to honor the President with the award. Novorossiysk Spartak Gatchina recorded a huge 5-0 win against Chernomorets Novorossiysk last night, a match that has shocked many supporters and viewers of the Azovskayan Premier League. The win puts Gatchina 4 points ahead of the second place Chernomorets who are still reeling in shock from the loss.
