I have an ongoing conflict that I've been working on, to some extent, for the past few months. Check out the factbook for this nation here: http://www.nationstates.net/nation=al-k ... l=factbook

Keep in mind it was written for the start and needs an update, but here is the general gist of where we are. The Khalifiyan Military was defeated about 2 months into the war. They surrendered and vowed to fight the Red Wind, which was a terror group the nation had been harboring. Since then, the conflict has changed to a counterinsurgency. There are ambushes, roadside bombs, snipers and full out firefights.

The former government has been on the run. A recently written news article shows the former leader of the nation was taken out. viewtopic.php?p=28290963#p28290963 The enemy is the Pro-Soviet style Red Wind terror organization responsible for attacks on Vannish commuters.

So now we are in the mop up stages of the campaign. I'd give freedom to a variety of skill levels and writing styles. I favor detail though, of course and cooperative writing. I can OPFOR a bit, but I'd rather write as a story together than worry about playing the bad guy. I will make sure the enemy's intent is known so that there will be a basis for all the actions. Submissions could be anything from newspaper style articles to unit level or even character level RP.

If I get 2 or 3 interested people, I'll start a signup thread.

Keep in mind, this group isn't related to religious fundamentalism. This nation has a mix of religions, since it was influenced by Soviets for decades.

Hey, this is Vangaziland. So I got a response to my offer for an RP above. St Saratoga wants to RP this.

Quick refresher, there's a conflict in this nation in retaliation to a bombing on Vannish commuter stations. I had an initial RP where we had the initial air war and landed the first troops. Since then I've kept the conflict running basically real time and just write articles about it every so often. The Vannish Foreign Legion has deployed. My puppet New Gazi has deployed. I'm going to make it official that my original allies have left. The newest news is that my other group, the Order of the Purple Cross is getting involved. So now a big part of our mission would be escorting peacekeepers.

As far as the enemy, we defeated the Khalifiyan army and helped put a new leader into place. There are still a few Loyalist units out there that fight against the new government, but their strategy involves blending into the populace, sniping, IEDs and mortars. In most areas, the Red Wind are the main enemy and they use the same hit and run tactics. So this is a counterinsurgency. The difference is that Islam is not involved. They are of Arabic heritage, but they picked up many things from a long Soviet occupation, including different religions. That's the one thing you have to remember if you RP this, it's not about religion, but to rid the nation of the Red Wind.

So how would this go?
We could keep it going as a near real time conflict that we write articles on or give updates on.

Or, if we can pick up 1 or 2 more RPers, we can do a proper RP. There are several angles we can go with. We can focus on a specific mission, like taking out a large camp, or more likely, everyone will get a sector and will describe their campaign there. A group of 3-4 people would be plenty and I think we could have some fun with it. If it's just me & St Saratoga, we might just keep it as an article, update thing.

Now say you didn't want to send your nation's assets in support yet. You could make a character in the Vannish Foreign Legion and just get involved with the story, for the sake of military RP. Or you could send humanitarian workers in the Order of the Purple Cross. Both groups have pages that I can send the link out for any interested folks.

Now if somehow we suddenly garnered a huge amount of interest and IATA showed up with a strong force and eventually wiped out the Red Wind, that could be a good story too.

Another detail, my RPs are cooperative. That means all RPers will be on one side. We won't have some random person jumping in with 15,000 troops in support of the enemy. Also, I think the limit on forces donated should be 5-8 thousand at the absolute max. Any number less than that is acceptable, even if you wanted to work with a company or battalion. We'll provide the logistics for all allies.

I'm glad you like the idea. I've been so busy with sports RPs that this has just been something on the backburner. Every couple weeks I write an article about something that's happening there. Real low key. If you ever want a sector to occasionally write articles about, let me know. That goes for anyone in IATA. I'm thinking about keeping it like that.. A slow paced, real time campaign. If more people got into it, I'd open up a news thread where people could place articles or stories about their sectors. I've been using a world news thread.
