Female Pilots Awarded Medals For Bagging Abbzan

Lieutenant Alyssa Hutchstone is an SH-60B pilot stationed aboard the VNS Nephilim. She has been paired with an allied Khalifiyan pilot, 3rd Lieutenant Sonya Alawi. Vangaziland and the newly installed government of Al-Khalifiya have begun a training program that pairs up some of the junior Khalifiyan flight officers with Vannish crews.

It would turn out that this two women crew would have a date with destiny on one such training exercise. It was this flight team that got the call to take out General Abbzan. The SH-60B Seahawk helicopter rushed from its position over the ocean, located the correct vehicle and engaged it from miles away.

"We were doing anti-submarine training over the sea when the call came in", Lt. Hutchstone said in a brief statement. "We reacted like any crew would. We've fulfilled the gunship role and launched Hellfires before, so this wasn't anything new."

By the morning's sunlight, Commodore Henry Lattermore had flown over from a Vannish carrier in order to host a quick award ceremony for the two female pilots.

Lt. Hutchstone was awarded the Royal Imperial Cross, Vangaziland's highest military medal. It was for the skillful manner in which she quickly located the target. The SUV could have easily disappeared into the night. A drone had been filming and following from above, but it took skillful navigation and speedy piloting to catch the Seahawk up to the 4x4 quickly enough.

3rd. Lt. Alawi was awarded the Foreign Star for her part in the mission, handling communications and operating sensors in order to facilitate the assault.

"We thought about not releasing the identity of the pilots", Commodore Lattermore told an embedded reporter. "But this is a good story for the Vannish Navy, the new Khalifiyan government and for women in the military."

...Talks over the proposed Carlsvadian-Klentian Defence Agreement, or CKDA, will begin today at the McCurter Business Center. Delegates from the Klentian government and the Carlsvad Union shall meet to discuss the defense agreement. In attendance, President Cash Willows, Defense & Security Secretary Franklin Gerrald, Foreign Affairs Secretary Joseph Rienburg, Carlsvadian Defense Minister Mary Kazinsky, Lieutenant Colonel Hariette Radetzky, amongst others.

The upcoming talks have added some minor controversy to the already charged political climate of this election cycle. The Carlsvadian regime is the successor state to the Prussians who in turn succeeded the Centaurians, who invaded and occupied West Klent - now the state of Occidens Klentia - during the Annexation War in 2002.

As such, many Klentians are angered by the presence of the Carlsvadians; they feel it is a return of foreign influence in the country, something we have fought long and hard to be rid of. This anger has been voiced by republican presidential candidate Governor Robert Dockard who called the talks, "...an insult to the memories of those who lost their lives during our fight for freedom."

However, the Prussian and Carlsvad regimes have been allies on previous occasions, so such an agreement could have its benefits. It has also become a welcome and peaceful distraction to the hectic and ever negative campaign trail for some. It is hard to gauge the the affect any agreement will have of the race, but in the past such acts of diplomacy has given President Willows a bump in his approval ratings, so this could be a much needed victory for the president.

Diplomacy has so far gone nowhere in New Klent, our own colony, which begs the question, how could it work with our former rivals?...

MOBILE, FLORIDA PROVINCE - The Experimental Handheld Laser Rifle, in development since 2011, was first used in the battlefield against True Birg forces yesterday at Mobile. The powerful beams of infrared laser light are invisible yet deadly, able to penetrate clothing, skin, and flesh with ease. Despite the high power requirements of each weapon, requiring every soldier to wear a heavy power pack, the laser guns were successful at repulsing the True Birg troops holding Mobile. True Birg Terrorist Attack on 2K Tower Foiled

LIBERTOPOLIS - The New Birgland Department of Intelligence said on Sunday that a terrorist plot to bring down the two-kilometer tall 2K Tower has been foiled. The plan involved two True Birg terrorists masquerading as maintenance workers, who would sneak into various parts of the supertall skyscraper and place explosives on key structural members. The plan was discovered after True Birg legislator Charles LeMay, who defected to New Birgland, revealed all that he knew about the plot, including everyone involved in the bombing. Referendum to Restrict Free Speech Moves Forward

LIBERTOPOLIS - When the centrist organization Sensible Free Speech started collecting signatures for a referendum to limit anti-New Birgland speech, many thought that the petitions was going to fall flat on its face. But now that the petition has collected the required 1 million votes necessary for the referendum to move forward, free speech advocates are worried. The referendum is supposed to implement a new law that makes any speech against New Birgland, its people, or its government illegal, so that True Birg sympathizers may be neutralized. New Birgland has always tolerated subversive speech in the interest of protecting the right of free speech, but this rights-limiting referendum has been surprisingly popular. Around 35% of polled Libertopolis residents of varying political backgrounds say they will vote yes on the referendum, according to a poll conducted by the Department of Human Rights. In the more conservative cities, the percentage is likely to be much higher. The referendum vote will occur on June 18, alongside a recall vote for Provincial Governor James Maxwell Redman.

Inactivity from Children of the Mountains terrorist group leads to President Early's declaration.

KNOXVILLE -- 2 months after the leader of the Children of the Mountains terrorist group was killed by a rogue prison guard, and 3 months after their last attack, President Richard Early appeared on national television to ensure the Appalachian people that the situation was now safe enough in the majority of the country.

The President added that Coalfields Province would remain under martial law for the forseeable future, as the province continues to recover from the devestating attack on its capitol building in Ashland, which killed the majority of the Provincial Assembly and caused droves of government officials to flee the province or hide.

The Children of the Mountains first made their existence known after successfully assassinating President Richard Bennett in Asheville, Blue Ridge Province, 11 months ago. Since then, they have waged open warfare on the Appalachian government, and killed hundreds of civilians and federal troops in the process. Their demands are a total dissolution of government as well as the destruction of large corporations. They wish to live in the traditional ways, free from all forms of outside intervention, while those in cities and urban areas can, by their own statements, 'starve and burn.'

One of their cruelest attacks was the gunning down of 47 students and 11 professors when a squad of five gunmen, two of whom were students, attacked Knoxville University in the federal capital. This attack sent the nation into a near panic. The depravity of the attack also led to the defection of the group's third in command, Duane Hickson, who remains in custody.

But it was the destruction of Coalfields' provincial capitol that finally led to the declaration of martial law 6 months ago.

No one is quite sure what happened on the day the building that housed the assembly of Appalachia's largest but 2nd least populous province was destroyed. A group of armed terrorists had taken the legislature hostage during an emergency session, and were killing 1 legislator a day until their demands of a full withdrawal of the federal army from the province were met. This dragged on for five grueling days. Each day another assemblyman's body was put on display. After negotiations broke down, or a rescue attempt went wrong, no one is quite sure which, a massive explosion engulfed the entire building, killing all inside.

Coalfields Province, and its vast array of forests, abandoned mines, and backwoods shantytowns, has been the base of operations for the Children of the Mountains. After the destruction of the capitol, the provincial government was temporarily dissolved, and a military governor, Brig. General Kevin Hensly, was placed in control. A state of emergency was also declared for the Greenbrier, Highlands, Great Valley, New River, Watauga, and Blue Ridge provinces, areas where the Children were most active. This resulted in curfews, a ban on large gatherings of people, and suspension of certain legal rights. Almost half the population has been in some form of civil emergency declaration for the past several months.

John Dyer was captured shortly after the Ashland attack, based on information given by Duane Hickson. A week into his incarciration, John Dyer was killed in his cell by a guard at the Wallins Ridge prison, who sought revenge for the murder of his brother in the Knoxville attack. It is believed that Duane Hickson's half-brother, Paul David Hickson, then took over command. However, there have been no attacks or statements from the group since that event. The death of Dyer may have caused a break in ranks, with Hickson unable to gather enough allies to wage another assault.

When asked when the Coalfields government might be restored, the President stated that they were waiting for the last remnants of terrorist cells in the province were rooted out, so that elections could be held in an orderly fashion and the capitol rebuilt. Many in Coalfields are beginning to protest the continued military rule over the province - with some fearing it may become permanent. The President denied these claims, saying that provincial governance is integral to Appalachia's function, and that balance would be restored as soon as possible.

NIKOLAS FUMNANYA, who claims to be a voodoo magician, had threatened to kill police officers this morning after being given a speeding ticket of 5,000 ABT. Nikolas was reportedly "humming and chanting in his room with 6 candles lit" and "commanding spirits to kill the officer and send his soul to hell". At 5:00 P.M, Officer Oyibo Bere Tamyat was found dead in his room with a knife. When Nikolas was interrogated, he said, "Oyibo must've killed himself, because I was clearly at my house eating fufu that day." Later, Nikolas' fingerprints were found on Oyibo's bed and he was sentenced to death.

People across the world are congratulating pilot John Artola for taking out the single most annoying band since Jethro Tull. 3 POLICE OFFICERS SHOT DEAD OUTSIDE SILENT HILL POLICE BASE, SECURITY TIGTENS EVEN MORE
At 3:30 AM this morning, Officers Kenny, Ivonovich, and Pavlov were shot dead in a drive by shooting of Silent Hill police base while on watch duty. One suspect found and executed just recently, though there are though to be two on the run in the nearby city of говорить. The suspect, Alvin Minovich, has been linked to the anti-government group known as the "White Tigers", who have been assaulting and even killing police and government officials in the past few years. The other two suspects are thought to be high ranking officials in the group, making them a high priority target for the Federal Police. The elections are now over and all votes have been counted.

The Nationals campaign against immigration have paid off far better than anyone had expected: from not having a single seat, they are now the largest party in the Diet with no less than 65 seats.
Otherwise the results the are typical: The Conservatives and Liberal Labour competes for the first places, with the the greens and the reds in 3rd and 4th place, and Centre taking the the 5th place. This time they reach it without help from the republicans: They gain a seat.
The minor parties have suffered hard this year. We say goodbye to the Radicals, the National socialists (Good Riddance!) the communists, the democrats, the liberal left, and (as expected) the Pirate Party.
With so many left parties out, and some many left-wing seats lost it is clear that the government will be a right-wing government.
The question remains whether the government will be national or conservative or the entire diet will lock up. Before the election all parties except the republicans have refused to work with the Nationals, calling them populist and far-right. Which means that all three top parties compete to get majority. Will this perhaps mean that we get our first green government? A Labour-conservative coalition? This election has certainly been a surprise for most.

Also those involved in the incident have been discharged by the court and sentenced to 8 years of prison. AWA legal correspondent Alex Dmitrescu said,"We have won this battle, but our war to seal the rights of worker's is still being fought." Many still claim that Emperor Kertesz was responsible for attack and that companies still need to get out of the mines. Though the AWA has left the situation many of Kertesz's opponents request to see communication reports between Kertesz and the Intelligence Agency. Kertesz said,"I have done nothing, and if I had done that I have the absolute right to keep order in our nation. Also I have the right to my privacy, the government has its right to keep its records private." By allying with the Independent Union, and the Republican Centre, as well as about half of the members from the conservatives and the greens, the nationalist have managed to gain a narrow majority of 101 seats.

After a vote in parliament the controversal Rudolf Hinte (Nationals) have been appointed Prime Minister. The speaker of the house is Josef Loren (Independent) who opened the diet today with a deeply uninspiring speech.

New laws to be passed already
As part of the negotiations of government a new package of laws have been passed:
The anti-terrorist law - Allows to suspend any organisation suspected or connected to terror. (Nat. demand)
New pollution law - Increases the punishment for pollution and introduces the possibility of imprisonment. (Greens demand)
The Hinte law - It is now illegal for anyone suspected or convicted of criminal activity to hold political office (Conservative demand)
More controversial is the revision of the definitation of terrorism which now includes: "Anyone who threatens the territorial or national integrity of Thissen" (Rep. Centre demand)
The laws have been passed and are currently in force.

The Gas Plant in the Thoringen suburb exploded at 2:00. The police informs that no one was hurt, and that several suspects have been arrested. The police can not reveal the idendity of the suspects, but confirms that all are members of the Thissian Mohamedanian Church.

Following the results of the AWA v. The Augusticinian Intelligence Forces trial and protests regarding Emperor Kertesz, the Augusticinian Legislature has proposed taking action. Members of the Augusticinian Free Market Party and the Augusticinian Autonomist Party have joined together in proposing an ultimatum demanding Kertesz to release records of communication with the Augusticinian Intelligence Forces. The supporters of Kertesz have stated that Kertesz has the right to keep executive communications private. Max de Ven of the Augusticinian Nationalist Party said,"Kertesz has the right to keep his information private, just as much as each citizen has the right to keep their privacy." Marzia Noguerra, an outspoken member of the Augusticinian Free Market Party responded,"We are giving Kertesz the chance to peacefully release the records or we will have to take them by force. If a warrant is needed to take hold of the records we will do such. We are not invading Kertesz's privacy in any way. It is essential to know whether Kertesz was responsible for the deaths of over 100 miners. If Kertesz has nothing to hide then he should easily be able to release his communication records." Debate has continued throughout the legislature as those for and against Kertesz seem to take sides. Though many are neutral, afraid to be entangled in the pandemonium.

Today at 9:00 AM, The Lazuranian Revolutionary Front sent 34 of their members to Moscovy were they took a large restaurant with 132 Civilians inside, their leader was Marius Arrius, a former army officer. Negotiations were worthless against the violent minds of the anti-citizens, 4 hostages were executed in 2 hours. One of the officers that was wounded recorded his radio chatter and sent the news team this, "Overwatch, primary target is engaging in uh... The NIF stormed the restaurant, they were flashed and the point man was shot in the chest, and another officer was killed while advancing into the basement. All 34 terrorists died on the scene, the police department now issued a man hunt on the leaders and members of the Revolutionary Front.

It turns out that new laws just recently passed have some bizarre effects. As known the laws prevents anyone criminal or even with criminal connections from sitting in the Diet. One would think that it was reasonable, but it turns out that after the arrest of some of their members, several parties can no longer be in the Diet. The parties in question are The nationals, the conservatives, and the Red list. As the member of these parties make up more than half of the Diet, we know face a reelection.

Well, Izweababa has conquered a European country called Onkrizhland. There is a big celebration in the king's residence and in the hall of the new Dimenikkist temple. The king is hoping to convert all the people in Onkrizhland to Dimenikkism before Onkrizh-Babic terrorism happens. Izweababa has built walls around the borders of Onkrizhland to keep Onkrizhmen/Onkrizhwomen from escaping Emperor Dominique Kiqxe's rule, and from going to Russia.

The New Lexingtan Minister of Defense has declared that New Lexingta will continue it's isolationist policies with other nations despite the rise of terrorism overseas. In a statement today, General Lorenzo Acker said "the only way we will be getting involved is continuing to sell oil to any nations willing to buy. We will continue to place New Lexingtan lives first." General Acker refused to make any statements on the immigration debate. In response several civil rights activists like Micheal Taft have branded the Ministry of Defense as "xenophobic cowards." Prime Minister Truth made the statement that he will continue to push The Parliament for more isolationist policies in a speech today, saying he will not make any changes to border quotas without stricter background checks enforced first. This will surely stir up more news on the upcoming reelection campaign.

Also in the news: A nuclear power plant about 100 miles away from Las Purina nearly had a nuclear meltdown, but was prevented by the vigilant observation of one worker: Jacob Sterling. He was able to alert his superiors of an unstable nuclear reactor and the plant was quickly repaired. The plant, owned the Nuclear United, made the statement that the risk level of nuclear meltdown is 1 in 1,000,000 and that if any disaster happened the citizens of Las Purina would have ample warning and the plants automatic security system would ensure the plant would shut down before radiation would rise to deadly levels. The CEO of Helios Inc., a leader in solar power, has said in response "this is exactly why we need to push out environment nuking power-plants in favor of clean, solar energy." The worker that spotted the risk is going to be congratulated as a hero by the Mayor of Las Purina next week in the city's yearly parade.

LEANBOX CITY, HYPERDIMENSION LEANBOX - After a few decades in the Hyperdimension Leanboxic Parliament and in the Gamindustri Parliament, HAdm. Chika Hakozaki of Hyperdimension Leanbox has finally been promoted to Grand Admiral.

"In recognition of her past actions, by the power vested in me as chief goddess of the pantheons of the Gamindustrian Union, I confer the rank of Grand Admiral to High Admiral Chika Hakozaki," Goddess Purple Heart announced in front of millions watching live at the Hyperdimension Leanboxic Basilicom, and millions more at home.

Attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Rei Ryghts, Hyperdimension Vert (AKA Goddess Green Heart), S-Sha, Histoire, Oracle of Hyperdimension Planeptune and General of the Honor Guard Corps of the Hyperdimension Planeptunian Army, Kei Jinguji, Oracle of Hyperdimension Lastation and Prime Chief Master Sergeant of the Hyperdimension Lastationese Air Force and Mina Nishizawa, Oracle of Hyperdimension Lowee and a High General of the Hyperdimension Lowene Gendarmerie, all of whom were in dress uniform.

"It is an honor to be promoted to Grand Admiral," Hakozaki, in an interview, stated. "That means I can be of better service to Lady Vert and to the people of Leanbox. Though it took so long to finally get my actions recognized, I can understand why, and I could say it is well worth it."

Aztec National League Activates Earthquake Early Warning System

CIHUATLÁN, AZTEC NATIONAL LEAGUE - Public safety officers, university academics, and government officials officially activated the first unified “earthquake early warning” system in the Aztec National League. The system, which has taken over 5 years to develop and cost approximately Ȼ62 million, is designed to provide a critical few additional seconds or minutes to brace for seismic events.

“The early earthquake warning system combines cutting-edge scientific technology and ingenuity,” said Minister of State Security, Tenoch Itztli. “A few seconds of additional preparation can mean the difference between safety and calamity, the difference between life and death. This system will allow us to protect critical infrastructure by shutting it down before an earthquake strikes, and ultimately, save lives.”

The system of networked seismographs and computer networks is designed to detect the initial primary waves, commonly known as p-waves, generated by a seismic event. P-waves are much typically much less damaging and travel faster than the more dangerous secondary waves, or s-waves that come soon after. As such, being able to detect p-waves, determine their point of origin, calculate their intensity and project how far they will travel will provide a small but valuable buffer before the s-waves arrive. This buffer can range from a a handful of seconds to a few minutes. Though some small-scale earthquake early warning systems currently exist in the world, very few nations have developed a national system.

The system isn’t perfect - the closer an area is to an earthquake, the less warning it will receive. Areas in very close proximity to an earthquake will receive no warning simply because the p-waves have not traveled far enough ahead of the s-waves. Additionally, it’s important to note the system isn’t an earthquake prediction system. While scientists can make educated guesses as to which faults are at most risk of a major earthquake, to predict precisely when, where and how hard an earthquake will strike is not possible.

Despite these limitations, and that an additional few seconds or minutes may not seem like a significant amount of time, Dr. Lucy Johns, professor of Seismology at the National Aztec University in Tenochitlán, said every second counts. “Depending on the design, an emergency shut-down of an nuclear reactor can take just a few seconds. Electronic train control systems can respond and start to slow down and stop trains. Back-up systems for critical infrastructure can be brought online more quickly. It may not seem a lot to the average person, but in terms of disaster response, it’s incredibly important.”

The system, which is ran jointly between the Bureau of Emergency Response and Management, a number of universities and the Aztec Central Military Command, will be rolled out in phases. During the first phase, alerts from the system will only be sent to central and regional emergency management offices, municipalities and critical infrastructure systems like power plants, refineries and water systems. However, once the system’s reliability is at a satisfactory level, alerts for larger seismic events will be broadcast on media and notifications pushed to mobile devices.

Though the system is still in its infancy, Dr. Johns said it was a meaningful step in the right direction. “Earthquakes are going to happen, but with a little preparation, they may not be disasters.”

2 PC Empire Valkyries Defect To Gamindustri, Inform of PC Empire Revolution

GARGAN CITY, HYPERDIMENSION LEANBOX - After passing a spy test and showing of their 'Angel Forms', or forms akin to the goddesses' HDD forms or Gold Third members' Gold Forms, two 'Valkyries', or results of a military project of the PC Empire which aims to create a being that rivals that of the goddesses, as Mirana, one of the 'Valkyries' put it, as well as some 1,600 other refugees, successfully defect to Gamindustri.

"It wasn't easy escaping the empire and arriving here," recalls Liana, in an interview. She then explains how they got here, but this will not be revealed for secrecy purposes.

"How we managed to show off our angel forms was because of the 1,600 defectors' faith on us," states Mirana. "Had it not been for these 1,600 people, we would have lost our powers already."
