I really don't like bouncing around, but after talking about it on Discord, I think this is for the best. So, without further addo, I'd like to drop the Ryukyu Islands, Indonesia's Bangka Belitung, and take in its place Gabon and Goa. Gabon is neighboring Equatorial-Guinea, which is already part of my claim, so this is more like to solidify the claim in the area, while I'm claiming Goa following BG's suggestion, about Portugal's former colonies during the Estado Novo period, albeit partially.

The population should remain roughly the same, so this is more an expansion in land area than anything.

I deeply regret my Missouri border now that it's resulted in an international four corners.

As discussed on Discord (yay, everyone's favourite saying these days lol), the removal of Great Italy has left quite a vast swathe of North Africa empty and the Suez Canal in dragonland. Initially I was planning to claim Egypt and RP it as an ally of the Kingdom of Marimaia, but after realising that Egypt's presence would lead to some changes being made to Marimaia I figured I'd go all-in with a more unified idea.

The Marimaian Caliphate. A democratic, socially liberal Islamic nation with a Caliph who is a constitutional monarch. While the Margraves will be sticking around they won't be ruling the Caliphate by any means, that particular role will belong to the Al-Marima dynasty. While I haven't finalised every particular detail of this proposed nation, I can present the unabridged GoogleDoc proposal:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oNz ... sp=sharing

Alternatively, I've selected the following tidbits:

Population primarily 'Masreyn' (Egyptian-Arab ancestry, 90%), unassimilated Bedouins, Nubians, and various smaller populations of expats, etc. The ruling Marimaian dynasty originally Kurdish with a hint of Turk, but over time have intermarried with, and been largely assimilated by, regional culture; as a result the Caliphate draws upon a few Kurdish and Turkish influences as well as more obvious Arabic and more general Islamic influences. Majority of population are modest in dress sense, the ruling dynasty have their own 'traditional royal style' but the younger generation of the dynasty tend towards tailored suits and more modern fashions. The al-a'yan are the longstanding patrician families who are the major landowners/own the major corporations. The economy is largely free market, although there exists an administrative body called the Hisbah which supervises the market; inspectors called muḥtasibs inspect weights and measures and the quality of goods, maintain legal trade, and crack down on what they judge to be price gouging including unfairly high rents. Foreign-owned ventures are also subject to the rules of the Hisbah. While the Marimaian Caliphate welcomes foreign investment, they dislike the idea of foreign corporations having too much freedom within their nation unless they have a certain percentage of Marimaian ownership.

The Caliph is a constitutional monarch. The Caliph signs, executes, and vetoes all laws. He may also suspend or dissolve parliament, and shorten or lengthen the term of session. The Caliph appoints and may dismiss all judges by decree, approves amendments to the constitution after passing by Parliament, declares war and acts as the supreme leader of the armed forces. Cabinet decisions, court judgments, and the national currency are issued in his name. He is also Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Great Mosque of Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque of Medina. The Crown Prince is the heir to the throne as the oldest male child is automatically next in the line of succession. There are regular disputes behind closed doors between the Sultan's two eldest sons on political matters, as Crown Prince Hassan is quite conservative and very "Caliphate First", while Prince Jameel is more liberally minded and is regarded as something of a "Western-phile". Prince Faris is still in his late teens and does his best to steer clear of any family disputes while Princess Lamia spends her time advocating for greater equality for women around the world.

The Prime Minister is the leader of whichever political party holds a majority in Parliament (450 MPs provisional total, depending on what the claim ends up looking like). The National Democrat Party has dominated Marimaian politics for the past decade due to support from the al-a'yan, the military, and the security forces; the NDP have neatly occupied the ‘centre ground’ of Caliphate politics, preaching the idea of a balance between social equality and social hierarchy while delivering market reforms. The main opposition consists of the Masreyn Liberal Party (liberal centre-left, although they have entered into coalitions with the NDP in the past) and the Social Democratic Party (democratic socialist, advocates 'detente' with the CSR and Romnika), with a variety of smaller parties representing so-called 'fringe issues'; the best known of these 'fringe parties' is the Guiding Light Party (ultra-conservative Islamist). Foreign donations to political parties are illegal.

The Caliphate is divided into Provinces and a small number of Emirates. Provincial governors (Walis) are appointed by the Caliph and are barred from holding any political party membership. While the Walis receive state funding, they are also permitted to enter into joint ventures with private investors. These investors are usually the al-a'yan, who will often contribute funds to hospitals, libraries, schools, universities, etc. for sense of civil contribution and getting their name on things. Walis are forbidden from entering into joint ventures with foreign investors; corporations with at least 40% local ownership are exempt from this as they are then deemed to be 'sufficiently domestic'. Emirates are hereditary holdings historically granted by the Caliph to individuals/families which have ‘provided a great service to the Caliphate’, but the constitutional reforms of the 1950s saw the Caliph relinquish the right to hand out national territory so easily. As a result there have been no new Emirates created since the 1950s, leaving their number at between three and six depending on what the claim ends up looking like. Emirates enjoy more autonomy from Cairo than the Provinces and are permitted to set their own taxation levels among other things, but they still have to adhere to the regulations of the Hisbah. Some Emirates have taken on their own particular identity due to the ways of the families which rule them, with the most obvious example of this being the Emirate of Margravia (RL Qatar and Bahrain...I did say that the Margraves were sticking around).

While MPs from Provinces have gone through party list selection and all that sort of stuff, MPs from Emirates tend to end up being independent candidates and members of the Emirate’s ruling family (another reason why the practise eventually stopped).

Women are free to pursue their own careers although there is still something of a ‘glass ceiling’. Homosexuality is legal with same-sex marriage being debated, and transgender recognition is steadily improving. Extensive anti-discrimination laws cover religion, gender, sexuality, ethnicity. Gambling legal and subject to Hisbah scrutiny, recreational drugs illegal. Freedom of press is enshrined in law. The Marimaian Caliphate pride themselves on being educated and enlightened, and prefer to debate religious differences rather than getting all 'jihad-y' about things (except for the GLP, who seem to be getting more outspoken).

The Marimaian Caliphate identifies itself primarily as an Islamic nation but other faiths are welcomed within its borders so long as their practises do not result in harm to anyone. While the ruling dynasty are Sunnis of the Shafi'i school, all four schools of Sunni Islamic thought are represented throughout the Caliphate due to previous dynasties having encouraged their own particular faith in the past, although Shafi’i and Hanafi possess the largest number of adherents. The prevailing religious ‘ideology’ is one of tolerance with many Marimaian Muslims believing that as long as you adhere to the Five Pillars of Islam as best you are able, then you will have lived a good life. The largest Christian denomination is the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria (complete with the Coptic Pope), while other denominations are often represented among various expatriate communities throughout the Caliphate. I’ve not settled on which Jewish denominations would be represented within the Caliphate, but they’ll be there.

Caliph Khalil holds annual conferences with the senior Islamic clerics to discuss the previous year’s events with a more theological viewpoint, looking at how events might have affected faith and belief. These annual conferences are then followed by a larger gathering of religious leaders from all faiths within the Caliphate where they discuss and debate matters of importance.

Mecca and Medina….Mecca and the Old City of Medina are Muslim-only. The Hajj is understandably viewed as an important part of the Caliphate’s year and they have the management of pilgrims almost down to a fine art (because accidents and such can always happen). Unlike the Saudi attitude of leveling historical sites to expand commercial sites for pilgrims, the Caliphate prefers to protect and restore historical sites so any development of Mecca and Medina is always sympathetic to existing sites of historical and religious significance.

The military is seen as one of the most prestigious institutions in the Caliphate. 916,000 (rough estimate) active personnel, 925,000 reservists. Military are almost a 'state within a state' as they own their production facilities and can earn revenue from arms sales; they also have their fingers in industries such as road and housing construction, consumer goods production, resort management, and larger real estate projects. The military are closely linked to the NDP, as the party wholeheartedly supports having a strong military. While the Marimaian military have their own manufacturing facilities, producing their own small arms and some vehicles, they purchase more substantial materiel from other nations (most likely America and Valendia in all honesty, but that’s not set in stone by any means).

The Marimaian dynasty also employ the highly trained 50,000 strong Royal Guard, recruited from the existing military of the Caliphate. The duties of the Royal Guard include bodyguard detail for members of the dynasty, guarding the royal residences, and guarding the Two Holy Mosques.

On the subject of 'Ancient Egypt/Kemet'....the plan is to keep it as having existed thousands of years ago. The Marimaian dynasty regard their land's history as being invaluable not just for tourism purposes but also for the prestige value. To that end there is an entire branch of the Marimaian bureaucracy which deals exclusively with 'matters of historical importance'. Foreign archeologists can apply for state funding for their expeditions/research but the deal is that while they get to attach their names to any finds, the actual finds themselves remain within the country. There is also a profitable state-owned industry dedicated to creating quality reproductions of the more famous artifacts for sale to 'Kemetologists', museums, and private collectors; in addition, all Marimaian embassies have a small display room containing examples of these reproductions.

As for historical interactions with other AMW nations (obviously some still need to be fleshed out), there were historical contacts and trading links with the Swahili coast during a so-called 'Age of Exploration' under a previous dynasty, but this was ended by a conflict with the Omanis who successfully drove them out of the area. The building of the Suez Canal (by whichever nation/coalition built it) took place under the Marimaian dynasty (who rose to prominence after the previous Settanid dynasty was ousted following the defeat by the Omanis); the Canal was seen as an excellent way to increase trade with other nations and raise the international profile of the Caliphate.

Romnika and the CSR would find advocates for closer ties in the form of the SDP, but the NDP government views them as potential threats to national security (because their ideology would undo the current status quo within the Caliphate). Depkazia is viewed with a mixture of amusement and concern, heavily tilted towards concern. While the Marimaians view Chingiz's eccentricities as somewhat entertaining, they also view him as a troubling unstable element in regional politics. Daresalam and Parsistan would find the Caliphate to be very interested in trade and friendship, and the Caliphate's NDP government would refrain from providing any social commentary; they would much prefer to offer aid and conduct behind-the-scenes discussions on anything that bothers them.

The ‘liberal democracies’ would find the Caliphate to be a very willing friend. Sultan Khalil is a firm believer in showing that cooperation, enlightenment, and democracy are the way forward in the world, while Prime Minister Osman of the NDP holds the view that nations like America and Chrinthania would be far more accepting and amenable allies than the British-WoS-Federacy axis.

So I'm asking to claim all of Egypt, the Libyan districts of Butnan, Derna, Jabal al Akhdar, Marj, Benghazi, Al Wahat, and Kufra, and the Sudanese states of Northern, River Nile, Khartoum State, and Red Sea. Added to my existing Arabian Peninsula territory, that would give the Caliphate a population of 171,385,102 with a GDP per capita of $20,591. The matter of the Suez Canal has been discussed on Discord as well, I am perfectly happy to see the Canal under some sort of international authority rather than under the Caliphate's direct control. Possibilities include Chrin's suggestion of 'SuCanTO' (Suez Canal Treaty Organisation), or maybe a 'Suez Canal Company' with the Board of Directors consisting of representatives from national governments. Maybe even some combo of the two.

Mari, I like this idea a lot, as I have stated a few times in the Discord. I not only like this idea, I really like the idea of you going for “Maximum Caliphate!”, aka Egypt + Marimaia + Cyrenaica + northern Sudan. I just like the way that feels.

With the help of Discord, I have rejiggered what I want the British Empire to be. Understanding that Britain is the chief ally in this "Right Wing Bloc" and is tasked with supporting her allies with men, munitions, and resources, and realizing further that Britain is a grand empire and should have done something wondrous, present the following retooling of the British Empire:

The British Empire would consist of:

The United Kingdom (without Shetland or Orkney): 64,724,893
Jamaica: 2,990,561
Patagonia (southern parts of Argentina and Chile): 2,652,868
Angola: 29,310,273
Zambia: 15,972,000
Zimbabwe: 13,805,084
Malawi: 19,196,246
Mozambique: 26,573,706
Sri Lanka: 22,409,381
British Indian Ocean Territory: 0
Kerala: 33,387,677
United Arab Emirates: 6,072,475
Oman: 3,424,386
Singapore: 5,888,926
Hong Kong: 7,191,503
Zanzibar: 1,303,569
Mafia Island: 46,850
Malta: 416,338
Isle of Man: 88,815
Guernsey: 66,502
Jersey: 98,840

This brings the total British Imperial population to 255,204,555. Spoke about the GDP per capita, and if it is retained at 20,849 it would give Britain a total GDP of 5.32 Trillion dollars. And I am going with that if you all don't care.

Looks good, I would't have a problem with you going for a maximalist claim and taking all of the contemporary Republic of Sudan but what you have seems good. Previous relations discussed between the Margraves and Darsesalam would probably still hold true for the new Caliphate. I can see strong business connections between the Caliphate's al ayaan class and the Daresalam leadership, with the Mairamians having significant investments in Daresalams economic sectors, also with Daresalam choosing to recruit among the Caliphates Arabian populations (and to a lesser degree Egypt proper). If the Caliphates military is a strong force it could also be a potential supplier of weaponry for the Daresalam armed forces and possibly of contractors as well. With a much bigger population, I don't think the Calipahte would likely need foriegn workers from Daresalam anymore unless the population is wealthy enough that a Daresalami worker class could fulfill menial roles. Still it would likely be a sought after destination of migration.

Daresalam would definitely favour the Marimaia Caliph claim over that of Chingiz, and it will be interesting to see the interaction between the incumbent Caliphs and the Depkazi usurper.

Yeah, the need for foreign workers will be substantially less but there will undoubtedly still be areas where migrants can find gainful employment. Agriculture, construction, and mining are the main ones that spring to mind. Pretty much everything else we've previously discussed would indeed hold true under the Caliphate. The al-a'yan will love the Daresalam leadership for the business opportunities, and the Caliphate's government wouldn't stop anyone going to Daresalam to serve in the armed forces (it's their right to do so if they wish). We could certainly sell small arms, APCs, and that sort of thing to you as well. Just thinking aloud, there could always be a private military company based in the Caliphate that the Daresalam leadership have a good relationship with (I'm thinking based out of the Emirate of Margravia, it's the sort of thing that the Margraves would set up).

Some of the Caliphate's opposition parties might moan about the military stuff, but the incumbent National Democrat government are the type to point out that "Daresalam is an independent nation so we've got no real right to criticise their system. Different nations have different ways of doing things. Daresalam is a friend that respects our ways so we should respect theirs."

Hi there!

Thanks for your interest, but we don't use NS stats or a political compass in our applications. Furthermore, that's not even a template for our applications and I'm relatively sure the region/group from which you borrowed it wouldn't like you doing that. You'd really need to work on where you want the claim (which could easily be figured out by looking at the 2nd post in this thread. To see what we want in an application, please refer to the 1st post in this thread).

It's a no from me as the application stands.

Okay, so....

You wouldn't be able to meet the needs of your nation's oil requirements by simply extracting from the North Sea. in particular since that would be split between you, Gandvik, and Walmington on Sea (as it is IRL between a few countries). As is AMW's main rule, whatever resources are there IRL are the resources that are there in AMW (probably why the Middle East is filled in). Yes, synthetic is nice, but it's more expensive. I also thought Europe-Prussia was using the Hohenzollerans as his Imperial family. I know he adjusted his internal structure slightly, but I remember something about that (I could very much be wrong). Also, it would be great to know exactly what areas you are taking. By knowing what areas you are taking, figuring out your population won't be difficult at all (outside of some addition). Always a great idea to post a list of your claimed territories.

Overall, I'm still not sold on this application. The government feels a bit weak, the people seem like there's no unity whatsoever (which isn't a bad thing if you're going for a lot of internal strife), and after reading the application I feel that there wasn't a lot of effort put into it. I know you talked on Discord about how you have no real strength in describing culture, but I think if you really took the time to read some encyclopedia articles you might get the general idea. We don't need a dissertation on your nation, but this application is just a bit lacking, in my honest opinion, in enough substance to make me give you a yes vote from me.

If you really want to join AMW, then I will point you to this link for the example application. The application is probably the best idea of what we're looking for in terms of information on your nation. Don't worry if you think your already-conceptualized history might not fit in with ours. Part of the magic of AMW is we can and will work together to make things happen. I'd really like to see you think about your application and put some more thought into it. I think, if you did that, you might even surprise yourself. That is if you really want to be a part of AMW.

United Federation of Researchers wrote:I have hit a roadblock. I already have a factbook about the history, but it is not based on the real world, how would I adapt this?

As I told you in TG, write the history you want and submit that. If you're accepted into AMW, we can work together to balance out everything and fit you into our world and our world into your claim.

Request to Join A Modern World

This is my second attempt at joining AMW, so I hope it is better than the last one.

Ideally, I am looking for a location that is cold during the winters and has a capability for nuclear power. I am thinking somewhere near the Alps, but I am not quite sure. I know that Switzerland is taken so...

The Federal Republic of The United Federation was originally a dominion of [nation=short=noflag]Anthacia[/nation] known as The Colonies of Taquadam, divided between many colonies but gained it's independence in early 1982 when they won a referendum during a civil conflict with the ruling government. At the time the nation was called The Free Land of the United Federation of Researchers, research being a reference to progress in all fields. When Governor Alexander Farson came to power in late 2016, the name was changed to The Federal Republic of The United Federation, and these colonies join The UF.

The UF Economy is run by a centralised AI system and is currently recovering from a recent recession. The economy is primarily based on Information Technology, and International Trade, but also has plenty of other contributors, such as the cheese and fish industries. Everyone makes the same amount of money, and poverty has been eliminated.

In the Federative Society, people generally live in happiness, free to do whatever they want as long as it does not infringe upon anyone else's civil, political, or human rights or freedoms. The wealthy are often viewed with suspicion. All education is free, so the populous is well educated. People are very happy and are very nice to each other. Almost no one is sad or upset at all.

The Governer or Governess has complete authority and has VETO power and are the head of state, the Prime Minister is the head of government and represents the interests of the people, and with the help of the ministries, proposes bills to the Senate for approval. The Senate represents the opinion of the people, and votes on proposed motions; majority rules. The ministers are appointed to the House by the Prime Minister and are advisors to the Prime Minister and the Senate as to the state of different areas of the nation. The speaker represents the House and Senate, and the Representative of the Governer/Governess represents the interests of the Head of State.

Government Officials

Start by listing the locations you're claiming. That's really, really helpful when it comes time to put you on the map. Your application is just... lacking information. But, in the effort to not be far too difficult, I think if you explain the economy better and the culture better, I would be more optimistic about it. History, as important as that can be, isn't truly that important to me anyway.

Minister of Education: Katherine Willis, Minister of Economy: Brandon Garrison, Minister of Security and Defense: Jared Fraser, Minister of Environment: Clara Jameson, Minister of Foreign Affairs: Renaldo Davis, Minister of Internal Affairs: Johanna Yergenson, Minister of Human Rights: Johnathan Trastlor, Minister of Science and Technology: Tamara Lee, Minister of Health and Saftey: James Ingris, Speaker of the Senate and House: David Erlington, Representative of the Governer/Governess: Talia Ulrich, MWPSB Chief: James Valeeritch, Head of State: Governor Alexander W. Farson, Head of Government: Prime Minister Cameron P. Rossler .

Researchers:

You don't have to repost the AMW graphic at the top of your applications.

There are three primary parties, the Conservative Party, the Libertarian Party, and the Environmental Protection Party

As far as location, you're hard pressed to find much of those really cold locations unless you sink into the Korean peninsula. Scandinavia, Canada, Russia, Mongolia, China, Europe (apart from vaguely Southern Italy) are all taken.

Who is Anthacia? They don't exist in AMW. Would that be part of your claim for that history? Would you be willing to trade out Anthacia for an AMW nation already existing to work as your colonizer/overlord/former controller? Can you expand your history to make it more... easily understood so we can start to formulate how best to fit you into our world and how best we can fit our world into your nation?

Your economy is lacking in a lot of details. Poverty may never be eliminated if you're capitalist. Even in the most communist of nations, there's still poverty. Particularly compared to the big, economically-successful nations. The centralized AI has been suggested in AMW before. Can you explain how it works in at least the very basic terms?

Sounds like you're building a true paradise culturally. I think, in realistic terms, you're never going to please all the people all of the time. Even in Chrinthania, my attempt at a liberal wet dream, there's still factions who don't like the way things are. Even if they're smaller in number than they might actually be IRL. Is there a national dress to your nation? Does it have a language other than English? Are there any particular cultural traits to your nation that may/might not be found in other nations?

Can you explain your government in a bit more detail. It feels kind of like the Russian system a bit with Putin and Dmitry Medvedev a bit. One has most of the power, the other there to kind of help get things done a bit (at least as I understand it).

I think if both XCOM would be willing to answer the same questions I asked Researchers, though as it pertains to his nation, I could understand the claims better and be able to form a better opinion on them.

Belka is in Western and Central Europe, with Valendia bordering to the west the gull flag republic to the east,Beddegelert to the southeast,
Belka is also bordered by the North Sea and, at the north-northeast, by the Baltic Sea and at the south the Mediterranean sea . Belka also shares a border with Beddegelert on the fresh-water Lake Constance, the third largest lake in Central Europe.
It is the smallest european nation compared to other european nations and serves as a buffer state between Valendia and Beddegelert and the Gull flag republic.
Territories claimed (Netherlands,Germany,Switzerland,Italy,denmark.)
Most of Belka has a temperate seasonal climate dominated by humid westerly winds. The country is situated in between the oceanic Western European and the continental Eastern European climate. The climate is moderated by the North Atlantic Drift, the northern extension of the Gulf Stream. This warmer water affects the areas bordering the North Sea; consequently in the northwest and the north the climate is oceanic. Germany gets an average of 789 mm (31 in) of precipitation per year; there is no consistent dry season. Winters are cool and summers tend to be warm: temperatures can exceed 30 °C (86 °F).
The east has a more continental climate: winters can be very cold and summers very warm, and longer dry periods can occur. Central and southern Belka are transition regions which vary from moderately oceanic to continental. In addition to the maritime and continental climates that predominate over most of the country, the Alpine regions in the extreme south and, to a lesser degree, some areas of the Central Belkan Uplands have a mountain climate, with lower temperatures and more precipitation.
With its hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, territory south of belka experiences a mediterranean climate. Winters there are cool and humid in the north and the mountainous zone. Sometimes cold air from northern Europe can spread south into the region bring snow to most mountains, while the coasts are kept warm by the high sea temperatures. Storms like the Mistral can bring snow and gales, sometimes even in southern districts of Italy.

The summer can be quite hot, mainly in the south of the peninsula, with high nocturnal temperatures of usually 28-33°C, but sometimes even 40°C. Thunderstorms are quite common especially in the northern areas. The mediterranean climate in has often local variations. Surrounded by warm seas and with mountains close by, the coast always has a breeze; mountain areas are usually cooler with clear sunny skies, but sometimes local showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Hot air rising from the sea can cause heavy Thunderstorms especially in early fall, but these bring often the only summer rain that rapidly evaporates. In spring and fall, the Sirocco, a warm wind from Africa, raises the temperature of the peninsula. In The summer these Winds can bring very hot, unpleasant weather, sometimes even up to the northern districts.

The Federal Constitution adopted in 1848 is the legal foundation of the modern federal state. It is among the oldest constitutions in the world. A new Constitution was adopted in 1999, but did not introduce notable changes to the federal structure. It outlines basic and political rights of individuals and citizen participation in public affairs, divides the powers between the Confederation and the cantons and defines federal jurisdiction and authority. There are three main governing bodies on the federal level:[53] the bicameral parliament (legislative), the Federal Council (executive) and the Federal Court (judicial).
The Belkan Parliament consists of two houses: the Council of States which has 46 representatives (two from each canton and one from each half-canton) who are elected under a system determined by each canton, and the National Council, which consists of 200 members who are elected under a system of proportional representation, depending on the population of each canton. Members of both houses serve for 4 years and only serve as members of parliament part-time (so-called "Milizsystem" or Citizen legislature).[54] When both houses are in joint session, they are known collectively as the Federal Assembly. Through referendums, citizens may challenge any law passed by parliament and through initiatives, introduce amendments to the federal constitution.
The Federal Council constitutes the federal government, directs the federal administration and serves as collective Head of State. It is a collegian body of seven members, elected for a four-year mandate by the Federal Assembly which also exercises oversight over the Council. The Chancellor of Belka is elected by the Assembly from among the seven members, traditionally in rotation and for a two-year term and serves as an adviser and liaison to the council.
The Kaiser has the ability to veto or pass laws made by the Federal assembly. This is however rarely done. The Kaiser can also make his own laws or even declare war via a royal Decree without having to consult the Federal assembly. The decree is put into effect immediately once it is announced and cannot be changed for 30 days unless the Kaiser overrules it himself or via another royal decree. Once it expires, the Federal Assembly will gather to review and consider making the decree permanent.
The Current head of state is König und Kaiser Albrecht the 5th von Bradford.

These groups laid the foundation for the patriotic attitude of future generations, along with the political structure of the country. Some modern Belkans continue to hold their bloodlines as status symbols.
Modern era

After the end of the medieval ages, Belka continued to exist as a nation, eventually becoming a major industrialized nation by the start of the 20th century.By the onset of the 1980s, the leaders of the Belkan Army, motivated by their country's progress, had begun the development of a series of weapons of mass destruction and experimental systems for the purposes of defending Belka from foreign invasions. These projects coincided with the ongoing Cold War between Yuktobania and Osea. These included the Excalibur anti-missile laser tower, the ADFX-01 and ADFX-02 Morgan aircraft, the V2 warheads, and the XB-0 Hresvelgr heavy command cruiser.
The Union
1998 the Belkan economy falters, investments are in an all time low. The projects were taking a huge toll on the Belkan economy.
Cuts to the military and welfare created rifts between the people and the government. They saw the politicians as corrupt and weak. The royal families spotted an opportunity and began campaigning for a return to the monarchy back to the glory days of the empire. The military dissatisfied with the central government supported the notion.
On November 3rd 1998 the Winter uprising begun. The 41st Panzergrenadier Brigade and Panzerlehrbrigade 9
secretly redeployed to berlin under the guise of an showcase and exercise.
At 1600 hours tanks rolled down the streets and autoban. Seizing strategic locations across the city the Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 73 flew above the city providing air-support.
Leopard tanks and mardar APC can be seen stationed at the Brandenburg gate.
The house of Ludwig royal family and their supporters gathered at the Bundestag calling for Chancellor Fedrick to step down. The politicians holed up in the Bundestag refused to back down. Soon clashes with the Federal police and the military spread. But the military had support from the people who wanted to see the corrupt government dissolved. The German KSK Kommando Spezialkräfte soon joined in the fight and were fighting the legendary GSG-9 detachment in Berlin in house to house fighting. Chancellor Fedrick seeing that there was no way out of this situation as more reports came in that many of it military units are rebelling against the federal government in support of the Ludwig Royal family.
5 hours after the Coup started Fedrick and his fellow politicians surrendered and were arrested. An in-depth audit of the accounts of the politicians soon found numerous government bureaucrats guilty of taking huge amounts of bribes from all sorts of criminal organisations and corporations.
Head of the house Prince ludwig the 5th von Bradford was quickly sworn in as Kaiser and an intern government set up by people not implicated in the investigation ensured a smooth transition of power from a federal republic to a monarchy.
It was 2008 the housing bubble in the united states popped. The World’s economy floundered. Japan, Italy and Switzerland were hit particularly hard as their economies where in the middle of stagflation, The newly formed Imperial German union barely managed to weather the storm by bailing out the major banks and industries but they were in a precarious state themselves. The Italian Federation broke apart and the Swiss although stable soon saw its much valued and famed banks fail or flounder as they declared bankruptcy one after another. The Council decided to approach Belka with a plan. They propose to unite the two nations as a single nation.
Kaiser Bradford who had ambitions expand Belka’s borders readily agreed. The same plan was sent to the Netherlands who just suffered a flood devastating part of its low lying regions and is in desperate need for relief.
Soon other smaller nations and territories including huge parts of italy were incorporated into the new state huge political and economic reform was needed and on october 3rd 2009 the United Kingdoms of Belka was officially formed. (Very Work in Progress)

Population should be about 168,509,965

These included the Excalibur anti-missile laser tower, the ADFX-01 and ADFX-02 Morgan aircraft, the V2warheads, and the XB-0 Hresvelgr heavy command cruiser.
The Union
1998 the german economy falters, investments are in an all time low.
The house of Hohenzollern royal family and their supporters gathered at the Bundestag calling for Chancellor Merkel to step down. Chancellor Merkel seeing that there was no way out of this situation as more reports came in that many of it military units are rebelling against the federal government in support of the Hohenzollern Royal family.
5 hours after the Coup started Merkel and her fellow politicians surrendered and were arrested. An in-depth audit of the accounts of the politicians soon found numerous government bureaucrats guilty of taking huge amounts of bribes from all sorts of criminal organisations and corporations.
Head of the house Prince wilhelm the 5th von Bradford was quickly sworn in as Kaiser and an intern government set up by people not implicated in the investigation ensured a smooth transition of power from a federal republic to a mornochy.
The Council decided to approach Germany with a plan. They propose to unite the two nations as a single nation.
Kaiser Bradford who had ambitions expand Germany’s borders readily agreed.

Population should be about 131,404,355

Now, that's more like it, XCOM! I like the app, I feel I have a general sense of what you're going for and how to interact with it. All the details can be fine tuned as we move along. While I cannot speak for other AMW members, I am firmly in the Yes camp. Since you won't have all of Denmark, we'll help you sort out the total population. We can do that! :P

After, like, half a minute's thought I have decided to drop Xinjiang and Tibet from my claim.

Also!

If you could drop the Mekong River Delta provinces of Vietnam except Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) and Long An, that would be good. Thanks!

The Union

Cuts to the military and welfare created rifts between the people and the government. They saw the politicians as corrupt and weak. The military dissatisfied with the central government supported the notion.

secretly redeployed to berlin under the guise of an showcase and exercise.

There are some particular issues with this application.

Firstly, parts of the application seem to be ripped from the Germany wiki page while other areas, particularly the History section, make reference to things which don't exist in AMW. There's no Japan, Italy or Switzerland, there's no cold war between Yuktobania and Osea and particularly "the Excalibur anti-missile laser tower, the ADFX-01 and ADFX-02 Morgan aircraft, the V2 warheads, and the XB-0 Hresvelgr heavy command cruiser" would not be plausible in the hard-MT setting of A Modern World, as they are fantastical technologies from a video game and unlikely to function as described in the real world. You also do not need to have a transition from a Federal Republic of Germany to an "imperial German union" since the BRD does not exist in AMW. There was never a United States in AMW and no housing bubble/economic collapse occurring at the exact same time. I'm not actually sure what your claim adds to Europe to warrant the entirety of remaining space in Europe, and its concept is very simplistic currently with a simple economic collapse precipitating an annexation to Belka very recently for seemingly no realistic reason. I also have some concerns with the writing and world-building quality which, until these issues are addressed, I do not wish to approve of this application.
