Are you sure about that? You guys have about eighty men to destroy three tanks, as well as close air support. 2nd Ptn is facing about a regiment's worth of infantry, and Von Scharnsdorf is forcing half of his platoon to attack the soviet lines.

1st platoon is 47 men slowly crossing no-man's bridge in broad daylight to engage a tank collumn at the other end with no anti-tank capablities except un-preped grenades as close air support hasn't arrived yet. And when they do, I'd prefer to be well in cover because air-to-ground fire is never precise. At least 2nd platoon has cover-

1st Platoon isn't going to engage the enemy armor until after the airstrike. It's likely that the Soviets won't even engage 1st Platoon until after they've cut off 2nd Platoon and one of the first thing's 1st Platoon is going to do is utilize the already built fortifications on the other side of the bridge while they wait for 3rd Platoon.

I anticipate there might be friend-fire casualties if the Luftwaffe is inaccurate with their bombardment and casualties when 1st Platoon moves to engage the Soviet armor, but i can't see the already under-strength Soviets purposefully committing their sparse armor to attacking an unengaged unit that, as far as they know, may have the means to destroy that armor.

Assuming second platoon can hold on for another turn, they'll have armored support. They should make it through in one piece.

That's if the Russians choose not to just use secondary guns to mow down the infantry crossing the bridge, who aren't bringing along flak guns with them, while moving, which they can do.

I just wanted to say, the enthusiasm and well worked on posts are absolutely awesome! I'll be getting an update post up either tomorrow or on Wednesday depending on how work goes, unfortunately I'm an essential employee...so I do not get to shelter at home with the crazy shit going on outside, hopefully I'll be able to make an update that I think will keep the enthusiasm going.

Have to catch up on everything, but barring no issues there, is there still room for another platoon?
I've been watching the pacing from the side just browsing P2TM. Had to bounce out of another RP recently because I am also an essential employee, and 50+ hour workweeks were not meshing with a 1-post a day game. What would you all estimate the posting speed needs to be with this (without me reading the IC as of yet)? I can easily tackle a post every 2 or three day game, just not a post-per-day one.

We have more than enough room for a new Platoon Lead, and it's a rather slow RP post speed so you should be alright. I think most people aim for quality rather than quantity.

Awesome. I'll have an app today or tomorrow. I'm following a general 1 RP rule on myself for now, so it was between this (Depending on speed) and my own RP, so I wanted to make sure this one wasn't dead. As for pacing, I'm not insanely worried, I am on a post roughly every 2-3 day timescale rather than say, once a week, but anything going super fast would be too much for me at the moment so wanted to make sure on that too.

Character Application
Name: Werner Von Reichenberg
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Sudentendeutch
Rank: Leutenant
Unit: 3rd Platoon "Flammplatoon"/1st Company/2nd Battalion/ 7th Regiment/ 17th Panzer Division
Skills: Superior Equipment, Skilled Soldiers
Appearance :
Image
Personality:

Widely regarded as a fanatical National Socialist by members of the 2nd Company, Hatred of Untermensch especially Jews, Hatred of communists, Admires National Socialism, Frustrated with communication difficulties with other members of the battalion due to his thick Sudenten accent, Extreme fanaticism in executing the will of the Vaterland, Cares solely about the mission with lives including his own being a secondary concern, Extreme fondness for his father

History:

Born to a middle-class family in 1913 Reichenburg right before the outbreak of the Great War to an elderly optics maker and a housewife. Growing up Werner was the only child of his family, due to his father's advanced age(55) at the time and his essential occupation for the war nobody from Werner's direct family fought in The Great War, a mark of shame for the young man. WWI itself had little effect on the family, as his father's essential occupation always brought more than enough food on the table for the family. Neither was the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire as his father mainly just kept his head down during the entire period. As a result Werner was able to have a relatively normal life during the chaos that succeeded the Great War.

Werner went to a mostly Czech school, and was bullied by his fellow Czech students. A fact that made Werner take even more pride in his German heritage later on in his life. The 20s were a golden era fo his father's business, as optics were in extremely high demand all across the land by foreign nations. His father rather unwisely decided that the good times were going to last forever, and in 1928 invested in a major expansion of his shop from a relatively small workshop to a large factory taking a large loan from a bank to finance the expansion. However, that year the Great Depression hit the world. As a result demand for optics dropped off a cliff and the bank repossessed his father's factory. Despite, the fact that the bank was owned by fellow non-Jewish Germans Werner and his fathers would blame the Jews for the misfortune that befell them.

In the 30s Werner joined the Sudeten German Party where he met his 4 best friends: Dietrich, Heinrich, Gunther, and Hans. The 5 of whom met during a gathering of the youth league of the SDP. and were inseparable afterward. Dietrich was known as the gentle soul of the party is the nicest member of the posse. Heinrich was known as the voice of reason and caution. Gunther was known as the blood of the gang always driving the party, and Hans was known as the womanizer who cannot help but seduce local girls. During that period Werner's father re-establishing himself after the Great Depression taught Werner a lot about optics.

As the SDP gained in power the young boys marched and attended various rallies. Finally, in 1938 where Sudenteland was reunited with the Fatherland once again, Werner has elated. One year later on September 1st 1939 Werner decided to volunteer for the Wehrmacht as an officer. While his friends all decided to volunteer as enlisted men. After an 8 week course in the Kriegschule, Werner signed up for the Panzertruppe while his friends joined the 27th Infantry Division. Training in Panzerschule I Werner's time there proved unremarkable. Werner completed his training and was assigned to the 2nd Panzer Division they too late for the invasion of Poland, but arrived just in time for the invasion of France. The platoon that he was assigned did not see much action mostly being used as a potential rearguard.

After the French Campaign, Werner was reassigned to the soon to form 17th Panzer Division, where he would meet his old friends. With a few bribes to the admin officer of the division, the 5 friends were all put together into the 1st Platoon commanding a tank apiece. The 1st Platoon is made up exclusively of men from the Sudentenland, with most of the enlisted men being former SDP members as well. As a result of their extreme nationalism, and SDP roots the men of the platoon all have extreme cohesion and esprit de corps. During the formation of the platoon, a senior officer offered Werner to test out a state of the art new tank, and if Werner's men agreed they would be paid an extra 5 Reichsmark a month in terms of hazard pay! How could Werner refuse such an offer!?

Thus, the platoon all got Flammpanzers, and as a result of the perceived inhumanity of flamethrower tanks the crew if captured would all be executed. Thus explaining the hazard pay. Werner was made the butt of many jokes for agreeing to such a silly offer, but the platoon came to quite like the little Flammpanzers.

Character Application
Name: Karl von Volland-Emden
Age: 24 (Jan. 8 1917)
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: German (Hessian)
Rank: Leutnant
Unit: Attached 2nd Battalion/ 7th Regiment/ 17th Panzer Division - 2nd Company/ 1st Platoon
Skills: Offensive Doctrine, Mechanic School
Appearance (Picture, Description, or Both):
Standing at 6'0, with a lean build, Karl fits into his uniform. Black haired, blue eyed, and with a wedge of a nose, he is decidedly German. His hair style is typical army short, but darker on the sides than standard. It is also soft and finely textured, with it prevalent on his arms and legs, as well as creating bushy eyebrows that dress a shading brow line. He looks older than his 24 years, but retains large, youthful, and bright eyes. Despite numerous code violations, he wears a full, close-cropped beard whenever the opportunity arises and tends to grow the mustache longer for a layered effect. Peaked tanker caps and googles are his go-to choice of headwear and heat is never much of an outfit factor.
Personality:
Karl can be summarized in three concepts: dignity, elan, and a calm disposition. All three he has spent most of his life cultivating and expanding upon, and what was an influence of his idols versus that in his own being is something that only the Creator knows. He deeply values proactivity, in both himself and his men, and as a result always tries to keep the fight on his terms. A partial academic, Karl loves knowledge and learning, and is highly skeptical of the nazi party, though wise enough to remain quiet on the matter in public. His father, and especially his uncle, shaped his views on racial theory and as a result Karl is not a supremacist and does not underestimate his enemies' capabilities. He does, however, believe in the superiority of old Prussian ethics to the emergence of a new German identity created by the nazi party. Though not at all devout, and in fact cynical, Karl recognizes his nominal Catholic faith. Despite an educated upbringing, Karl has a bad sailors mouth and can be openly brash and abrasive, particularly to those he dislikes. He is fluent in English
History:
The story of Karl's family remains general obscure and unimportant for most of history. The Vollands had been granted a knighthood sometime in the middle ages, and some of Karl's ancestors had served in the Prussian army during the 18th century, but nothing of significant note. That was until Karl's grandfather, a successful South Seas merchant, helped lobby for the annexation of Samoa and later worked on the colonial staff of Wilhelm Solf. This brought the family financial founding and a smaller degree of social prominence, but it was the work of two men that shaped the course of Karl's life and views — his father and uncle.
Both men had served in the Great War, and both in the overseas service. Karl's uncle, August, had served in the East African Schutztruppe until his capture in 1917. He instilled in Karl the ideas of ruggedness, conduct, and with his tales of the remarkable Askari, an understanding that anyone no matter the color can be a deadly soldier. Karl's father, Alfred, had come back the true war hero. He had served as a petty officer on the SMS Emden under the splendid Karl von Müller, his eldest son's namesake, and had been party to Helmuth von Mücke's great escape. Showered with medals and honors, Alfred von Volland had taken the unusual dignity that had been offered to the surviving members of Emden's crew, and along with a hundred other families, added the name of the ship to his own family name. From his father, Karl had been given his patriotism, proactivity, and mind.

Born in Braunfels, Hesse-Nassau (then and now a province of Prussia), Karl's childhood was generally unremarkable. After the war, his father and uncle, local heroes of a broken and defeated cause, pooled together to start a business. This, together with the built wealth of his grandfather, netted Karl a comfortable childhood, fit even with trips to England where his father went for business. The ride through the depression was close, but not rough. The stories of overseas from his two role-models sparked an interest in the greater world in the young Karl, and he soon began consuming copious books and writings on various international subjects. In particular, the writings of Malinowski turned Karl onto the idea of anthropology, and as the boy grew more into a man, Karl entered university intending to become an anthropologist. Unfortunately for those dreams, the ever greater rise of the nazi party and the political turmoil of the age meant that many of the racially charged ideas purported by his professors did not exactly align with the experiences of his father and uncle, nor with the writings of the Americans and the Brits who he had exhausted already.
Disappointed withe university, Karl exited with a lower degree. At this time, Germany had decided that it desired the former German lands now owned by the state of Poland and a greater war fervor was sparked up across the nation. Recalling back on the glory of his ancestors, Karl turned his mind to a military career instead, at least until the war was over. He had contemplated the navy to follow the steps of his father, but instead opted to remain on dry land. His younger brother Helmuth enlisted into the Kriegsmarine, but Karl instead turned to the Wehrmacht.

Educated, intelligent, and dutiful Karl had no trouble moving his way to Lieutenant, especially with aristocratic ties (even if the new Germany claimed equality among the classes). Mud-mucking was not preferable, so to the armor he went. Though he had participated in all the campaigns one of his position would find themselves in, his career had been relatively quiet and even his participation in combat spotty and rare. This was a fact of circumstance rather than any flaw from himself or his commanders. What Karl was able to show, however, was his ability to place talent where it was needed. He recognized early on that his panzer crews needed to be specialized, perhaps even more so than German doctrine already demanded, and with some tough work Karl ensured his crewmen all were at least partially familiar with their machine. At first they hated him for it, after all, why should the radioman spend his few relaxed minutes going over the intricacies of the tank engine? But soon, the young man's theory proved itself and field maintenance to the panzers became second-nature, allowing Karl's platoon to keep up and running when others failed.
Now he finds himself in beginning stages of Barbarossa, the great operation against the Soviet Union, and Karl is eager to put his crews to the test.

Character Application
Name: Paul Weißmann
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: German
Rank: Leutnant
Unit: 1st platoon 3rd Company / 1st Battalion / 1st Motorized Infantry Regiment / 29th Infantry Division / XLVII Panzer Corps / 2nd Panzer Group
Skills: Artillery spotter, skilled troops
Appearance: Paul is physically quite average, with the exception of a few strands of grey hair, which he claims are genetic.
Image

Personality:
Paul is a phlegmatic man. His speech varies from laconic to pedantic, but were he not an enlisted man one could correctly guess that he would have spent his life without raising his voice, plunged in intellectual pursuits. His time in this Earth has been tough, hard and often disappointing, and a crust of cynicism has grown on him, though it has been softened by the successive German victories.
History:
Weißmann was born in Gera, at the eve of an inconvenient period to a family of skilled watchmakers, rooted in tradition and tied to the old notables. Thanks to their connections they had lived rather comfortable lives, and were spared from much of the war. Its aftermath, however, left a great scar in the family. In the economic crisis, not many had the money for finely-crafted luxury goods such as handmade watches. Food was sometimes scarce on the table, but apparences had to be kept at social events. Weißmann grew accustomed to this state of affairs as he was gradually exposed to the harsh realities of life.
However, the ‘Goldener Zwanziger’ ushered in hope as the economy boomed once again. After a decade of misery, Weißmann lived the mid twenties prosperously, captivated by pleasures he had never seen before. Yet, as he grew more perceptive, he noticed that pleasure didn't bring him much consolation. His family was bound to the old aristocracy, to the old Imperial Germany, and though they could feign and act, there always lacked a sense of belonging, as of they were being displaced by a new upper class. To add to the uneasiness, deep in his heart, he knew of the depravity inherent to this new way of life, and he saw the degeneracy shown off in Berlin, under the guise of ‘art’ and ‘liberty’. These growing pains were further punctuated by the market crash of the thirties, and every day of that dark period was hardly spent without some episode of sorrow or some doubtful thought. Nevertheless, he found a glimpse of hope in politics.
Paul had often dipped his toes in the matter, but always found everything to disappoint him. A burgeoning party, however, tapped into something deep in his soul – a desire for reform, for revolution, for justice and punishment. And in 1933, that party’s leader was named chancellor.
The year of 1933 was like none afore it. Never before had Weißmann been swept away, among flags and speeches and the party rallies, their soaring flight culminating in the coup. It was a flash of hope and pride and triumph, and yet clouded by doubt. Would they keep their promises? Politicians never did. The NSDAP, though, kept its promises – as many as it could. Reforms came quickly and the economy once again recovered, stripped this time of the dreadful pitfalls of the twenties, and after that, a place in the sun! As the Fuhrer turned his eyes to the Sudetenland, war loomed on the horizon. Seeing an opportunity to fulfill his duty to Germany, Weißmann enlisted into the Heer, climbing the ranks quickly thanks to his diligence and family connections. In 1939, war broke out, throwing him to the frontline, where, after weeks of fighting in Poland, then France, Weißmann was overcome by that euphoric realisation: this was victory! Victory of the purest kind, snatched from the maws of the mightiest army in the continent!
Now, the crusade has been turned to the East, towards the wretched Soviets. Though he is still drunk with triumph, Paul prays that this joy won't be snatched away like the others felt afore in his short life.
