A P P L I C A T I O N

Vitals

Name: She has been dubbed "The Assistant" by some, "The Custodian", and other "The [Insert Helping Role Here]" names.
Gender: Female
Age: 19 (from what she has said)

Alignment: Hero

Build: Depends. Her "designed for maximum communication potential" form, a statue with a simulated larynx that allows her to "speak" is roughly 2.5 metres tall made of bronze.
Appearance: It's really whatever she is inhabiting at the time, be it smoke or a statue.
Image
Image

Abilities

Equipment:
- None

Primary Ability:
Consciousness - She can fill up inanimate objects with her consciousness, as she herself does not have a form. However, she always "exists". She can inhabit only one type of material in an area at a time, or a single building. If they are connected she can inhabit multiple buildings. This goes the same for trees, books, statues, and almost anything. She can also inhabit air, but only if it is in someway contained, as she does have a large limit but open spaces are simply too big for her to fill. She doesn't know her upper limit, but she has tried before to fill an entire 60 story building and felt a bit strained, so it is most likely close to that. She can only control the mass of what she is controlling, and cannot form entirely separate parts and operate with them as well as the original object. If whatever she is controlling is destroyed completely before she can escape it she will be "destroyed", essentially rendered unconscious for several hours. It is thought IC that she can't be permanently killed, but if she were to be hit by a nuclear bomb or the equivalent power to the point whatever she is inhabiting and the air around it is destroyed, she too would simply cease to exist. Her unique state leaves her vulnerable to mind powers, impossible to be outright controlled or read by them, but easily suggestible and eager to please. The best way to beat her is to get into an open area where she will have to inhabit something smaller and more beatable to get to you.

Other Abilities:
Awareness - She is able to spread her attention into thousands, even millions of separate fragments within whatever she is controlling and only what she is controlling. If she is in a building, for example, she can cause thousands of hands made of whatever the building was made of to emerge from the walls and move each individual one with an equal amount of attention as if she was only moving one. This appears to be a safeguard her power has put in place for her so her mind is not shattered by the sheer data input that faces being something.

Details

Nationality: American(?)
Hometown: Discovered in New York City
Sexuality: ?

Skills: She can't really be skilled in anything except her power, as she is essentially a sentient power.
Flaws: Indoors, she is a nightmare to fight. However, if an enemy is out in the open with no large objects nearby they can easily evade her or even defeat her. She is also susceptible to letting herself follow those with mental powers (or those who she thinks know more than her) without question.

Personal

Personality: She doesn't really care about keeping herself safe, though this might be less about selflessness and more about knowing how difficult it is to get hurt. She also thrives as a subordinate and receiving orders. She can seem alien to some, but that is mostly just because of the unconventional forms she takes.

Biography:

Though she does not often communicate about her past, she has said that she was once just like everyone else with a physical body and family. When pressed for information she refuses to respond. She is fairly young but lived her entire life under the radar, working on her own and for various powered people over the years. When she was discovered by the Commission she was working for a Superior who worked under the radar by having the ability to essentially brainwash people and control their minds. She was a custodian and security guard, inhabiting the building and the air within it to keep it clean and safe. There was a brief battle in the building where her employer was killed, and the Commission subsequently attempted to "find" her. Seeking this opportunity to flee, she spent several years travelling the world, directionless. That is, until Spectre found her. It was a chance meeting really, her having taken control of a car an agent who happened to have a power to sense other powers rented from a rental agency that happened to be the only one opened at the hour. Despite the sheer chance of it all, it was surely meant to be. Realising that she was some sort of disembodied Superior he brought her to a local base, where she was able to vaguely communicate with them by embodying their building and shaping letters out of the wall. Glad that after such a long time doing nothing she would be able to do something, anything, she quickly agreed to join whatever academy they wanted her to go to.

After this there was a whirlwind of activity to get her "ready" to interact as a normal person might. A Superior with the ability to create anything was tasked with coming up with something for her to inhabit that could both fight, look human, and allow her to communicate without a giant charade game or morphing of campus property. They came up with a tall bronze statue with a sort of larynx. After several weeks of training to learn how to move the different strands of bronze to make certain sounds and create words, she can speak with a modicum of ease in this body. However, despite how well suited it is for battle, she is loathe to fight in it or allow it to be damaged because she has yet to figure out how the entire complex larynx system works together. She has now been deemed ready to join with everyone else in a more acceptable and accessible form.

Vitals

Name: Samantha Watts (Nicknames include Sami, Sparky, or Sparks)|Negawatt
Gender: Female
Age: 18

Alignment: Unaffiliated

Build: Medium|Well Toned
Appearance:

Abilities

Equipment:
Shock Gauntlets: Home made gloves that help channel and direct her electrical abilities, each finger has a built in adapter to help her absorb electricity, though too much use and she risks shorting them out.
Powerpack: A set of two car batteries she's fashioned into a make shift powerpack to help augment her abilities as well as to help her store excess electrical energy, while she's been able to streamline many of it's functions, it's still heavy as hell as it's two car batteries strapped together with a multitude of wiring and insulating materials.

Primary Ability:
Electrical Conductor: Sami has the unnatural ability to channel electrical energy into devastating physical and short ranged attacks, provided she's had enough time to charge.

Other Abilities:
Plug-In: Sami will search any sources of electrical and "plug" into it by jamming her fist into any socket or transformer and absorbing the resulting Electrical flow. It also gives her a bad case of the frizzies, shame she can't carry a can of hairspray.

Paralyzing Strike: Due to her father being former IDF, Sami was essentially forced to learn and master various forms of martial arts including Krav Maga, combine this with her electrical discharge, anyone who crosses her is in for a rather en-lightning experience.

Surge: Sami has the power to siphon off store electrical energy that she can harness to great powerful electrical pulses, essentially turning her into a walking, talking, localized EMP/Electro-Shock Bomb. Though this is mainly a passive build and last resort card as it has the unfortunate effect of leaving Sami "fried" for at least 15 minutes.

Details

Nationality: American
Hometown: Stedson, Ohio
Sexuality: Bi

Skills: Sami is a decent problem solver, when it comes to school work. Her High Functioning Autism gives her a better grasp of concepts such as chemistry, trig, physics, or other subjects involving numbers or math. She's also found that coding and electrical engineering seems to come naturally to her (I wonder why).
Flaws: Sami is short tempered and when she was little, her father used to say her emotions were that of a bolt of lightning on a clear day. While she's developed a somewhat thick skin, if someone pushes her too far, she'll come back at them swinging both fists and hurling lightning bolts until she feels safe.

Personal

Personality: A shy and somewhat unsociable person, Sami prefers to keep to herself, not out of fear of her powers, but out of fear of other people. Due to years of bullying and abuse at the hands of her peers, Sami's social skills have been rather blunted as she's used to defending herself from taunts and jeers, she never really learned how to take complements or criticism and will take any attempt to correct any action as a personal attack on herself, though she tries to be less combative and defensive in her responses. However, should someone actually succeed and manage to get Sami out of her shell, they'll find a rather hyperactive individual who is more than happy to put her life on the line for anyone she considers friend or family.

Biography: Born in the small town of Stedson, Ohio, Samantha Watts is the only daughter out of a family of 6, including three boys of various ages, and as a result, she grew up more of a tomboy than anything. Her father, a former member of the IDF, was more than happy to indulge her daughter's boyish tendencies, though her mother, a retired high school teacher, was more concerned with her behavior, finding her to be overly impulsive and too quick to anger when things didn't go her way. However, these proved to be the least of the family's problems as Sami seemed to have a dangerous fascination with electrical outlets and plugs. On top of that, things started randomly shutting off whenever she was around and wouldn't turn back on until she left the room, but they mostly chalked that up to coincidence, at least at first. Concerned, her parents took her to the local hospital to have her tested for developmental disorders.

Even though her tests game back inconclusive, thanks in no small part to the computers randomly shutting down, her doctor recommended she be taken to a specialist and tested for Autism. Unfortunately, the family had to go all the way to the other side of the state to do so, but by the end of the trip, they understood what was going on with Sami, at least from a behavioral standpoint. She ended up diagnosed with both Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and High Function Autism before she entered the third grade. This was also about the same time her powers began developing as well, starting out with her sticking a fork inside an electrical outlet at school and laughing because "it felt funny" before she learned that she could store the electricity she gained form the outlets and use it to shock people. Multiple suspensions and an expulsion threat followed her though out her time in the fourth and fifth grades and she would have been expelled completely had her parents not pulled her out and home schooled her for her entire middle school career.

This proved to be more of a problem than a solution as her time at home stunted her social development as the only ones she had to interact with were her parents and her brothers. She couldn't understand other people, nor did she want to as she became the target of harassment and bullying by the several of the cliques. Soon, she began to grow distant from everyone else, preferring to sit by herself and keep away from others, even her own family. And as the bullying worsened, Sami found that her powers became easier to harness and control, and she began using them on those her bullies.

It started out as harmless, the popular girls who taunted Sami because of her cloths, her family or her tomboyish attitudes found themselves constantly having to charge their phones in order to stay connected to twitter, facebook, and snapchat. The boys who called her names found themselves randomly getting shocked even if there was no one around them. And for a time, she felt better, she felt she had found a way to vent her frustration at her detractors and found that she was starting to gain control. However, things began to escalate. People began calling her a freak and rumors began spreading that she was a Superior, which made her more socially isolated. Soon, death threats, viscous rumors, and theft of her stuff began piling up until one day, she snapped.

She didn't know what caused the outburst, but one day she found herself standing in the middle of the hallway, shaking uncontrollably with smoke rising off her skin and cloths. Around her, almost everyone in the hallway was lying in heaps, their faces contorted in a state of agony or shock. Anyone not in the hallway found their electronics going dead, even if they were at a full charge, and their hair stood up as if the air had suddenly been filled with static. Days after the incident, Sami found herself expelled from school, though she counted herself lucky she wasn't charged with anything, despite parents of those who tormented her demanding she be locked up for good. Her own parents weren't even sure what to do, and slowly, Sami found herself drifting away from everyone she knew, including her family. Eventually, she decided it was best if she left her small town and ran away, hoping to find someplace where she fit in.

I don't think it works, non human characters already have higher standards than human ones and I'm not really fine with a character that's not so much a character as it is a force that inhabits other things, for multiple reasons.

Hey, Forest - I realize that you're probably busy and still reviewing my app among the others. I was just curious if you'd gotten to my app in your reviews, yet, or not. Not trying to rush you or anything, just wondering how it's going. I really hate sounding impatient and so I hope that I don't come off as such. It requires prolonged contact. They can't just touch someone briefly and then they instantly die, or even only a few times - an absolute worst case from brief contact with them is that the opponent gets minor burns (at worst, second degree). They actually have to hold an opponent to give third-degree burns or worse.

It takes concentration to spew fire from their hands or mouth, and even then it won't go magically more than a few feet. Brief contact with their fire would in most cases cause second-degree burns if it was a glancing blow. Only if you stand there and try to tank it would third-degree or worse burns occur.

As for using regular fire, their regular fire is regular fire and can't spread without fuel and can be picked up/used, but it isn't any more deadly than regular fire. As long as people can either tank regular fire or know how to use the stop/drop/roll method, their use of regular fire should be rather countered. Or if the opponent's powers let them snuff regular fire out.

Plus, due to their personality - unlike the cliche 'brooding pyro' - Jack wouldn't try to burn someone to death in a fight unless it was life/death or unless they were extremely pissed off. And the latter is hard to do unless you're actually trying really hard. Sure, in a fight, Jack wouldn't mind the opponent getting burnt - even a bit crispy with a couple third-degrees if they could give the opponent some. But they would not kill unless not killing meant they were going to die themselves.

The primary limitations are needing line of sight (it still works if their eyes are closed, but only if they've got a mental image of the area in their memory, and its not as reliable), limited to less than 1km, and that more complex, larger, and intense field geometries and higher particle energies require more concentration (i.e., a simple wall of EM field to block a hallway is trivial to produce and maintain for a reasonable time, but, say, creating a 50ft christmas tree-shaped electric field requires a level of concentration so intense as to effectively be impossible). The precision of the manipulations is also dependent on Clover's perception (a practical limitation of 0.1mm, or close to the thickness of a human hair, or piece of paper).

Other Abilities: The ability to levitate objects (the difficulty of doing so scales with the mass of the object, with heavier objects requiring more concentration, and nothing more than an empty 18-wheeler would be practical to attempt to levitate), visualization of fields and particles (even those not being manipulated by them), and limited transmutation (more of an act of breaking down complex things like atoms and molecules into their constituent materials, and potentially rearranging and recombining them into other things like different atoms or molecules), again limited to smaller objects (anything more massive than a brick would be too complex to transmute).

Details

Nationality: American
Hometown: New Orleans, Louisiana
Sexuality: Pan

Skills: Physics, math, tinkering, etc.
Flaws: Lacks confidence in social situations, not really an athletic person.

Personal

Personality: Somewhat introverted.

Biography: Clover had a relatively normal life growing up. They'd never exhibited any signs of Superiority, and was by all considerations a fairly bright child. They skipped 3rd grade and 6th grade, allowing them to graduate high school at 16, and college at 21, with a BS in Particle Physics from LSU. They would've graduated at 20, if it hadn't been for the accident.

In their second to last semester, they were working in one of the labs with their professor and research group, fine-tuning and testing some hardware that was designed to improve particle accelerator technology. During one of the tests, the rest of the team left the room to fire the beam, thinking that Clover was right behind them. In reality, they were still in the lab, having been distracted by something else. As the beam fired, they were directly in front of it. The resulting radiation sickness put them out of commission for the next semester, but they survived. Apparently, the dosage wasn't intense enough to be seriously life-threatening, and they appeared to have recovered with no ill effect. After being cleared, they were able to finish their degree and graduate. However, not long after, they began seeing weird things. Patterns they'd only seen from datasets in the lab. They dismissed it simply as a side-effect of their exposure. Then, one stormy day, it happened. They noticed some lightning, and briefly imagined it striking a nearby cellphone tower. To their surprise, almost immediately, it did. Out of curiosity, they visualized it hitting a different spot on the same tower. Once again, it did. Next they visualized it hitting a tree about 500 feet away, to their left. And it followed through. After a few months of trial and error on a smaller scale, they realized they could manipulate various fields and even particles.

They had also began researching Superiors. What was known, what wasn't, the legalities surrounding them, etc. Clover figured if they were one, it probably wouldn't hurt to know more, and it might help. And then, on the dark web, they found it. A meetup listing, and it was (relatively) close by, in City Park. They figured it was either a government or Commission trap, or the real deal. Either way, they'd at least see others like them, and they were confident in their ability to deal with any trouble. As it turned out, it was a trap. But it was sprung before Clover was close enough to get caught up, and they walked away as nonchalantly as possible. As they exited the park, they were spoken to by a mysterious figure. The figure claimed they weren't with the Commission, but they were a friend, and knew of a place where Superiors could hone their talents, and without fear of persecution from the Commission. Curious, Clover took the stranger up on the offer.

Name: Regina Turner
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Alignment: Villain

Build: 1.9 metres tall, slim and willowy
Appearance:

Abilities

Equipment:
- A skirt of panels similar to paint swatches with different materials on them
- Rings on every finger made of different materials

Primary Ability:
Material Manipulation - She is able to manipulate any material in her surroundings, as long as she is touching it. She can only manipulate things made of the same thing she is touching, cannot touch two things to manipulate two types of material, and can only do two things at a time when she is manipulating. For example, if she is touching a piece of concrete, she can manipulate the concrete in her surrounding area. She could cause a spike of concrete to emerge from a building made of concrete, or have a hand emerge. The bigger it is, the longer it takes to create. While she can create as many alterations as the given space will allow, she can only move two things at a time. So if she touched a piece of asphalt and created 100 hands on the street, she could only move two of those hands at a time. She doesn't really have a set range, but she is really only quick enough to be effective if she can see what she is doing or it is within 10 metres of her. This is strictly limited to non-sentient or dead things. Wooden doors, yes. Plastics, yes. Bones or flesh, no.

Other Abilities:
Material Sense - She can sense where whatever material she is touching is in a given environment within 10 metres of herself, allowing her to "know" what is going on around that specific material. This helps circumvent her line of sight restriction within a short distance of herself. This acts as a cylinder of power rather than a sphere

Material Meld - She adopts the properties of whatever she is touching and manipulating. So if she was touching steel, in a minute she would be solid steel. If she was touching wood, she would be solid wood. This is an automatic response, and takes active attention to suppress. When she is like this anything she touches made of the same material becomes absorbed into her, and takes a while to do so, slowing her down. She can break it off, but it is like sloughing off her own skin. If she was made of metal and you threw a metal table at her legs, she would have to wait until the table was fully absorbed before she could move again.

Details

Nationality: Turkish
Hometown: Istanbul
Sexuality: Who wants to know?

Skills: She is excellent at art, music, and using her powers. She is also fairly skilled at picking up languages.
Flaws: She is a coward at heart, which is what really prevents her from being a hero. She will avoid getting into situations that could get her hurt, unless escape would get her more hurt. However, if she thinks she can defeat someone she often goes too far and gets overconfident, leaving herself vulnerable.

Personal

Personality: She is generally pretty average, though can get a bit single-minded when fuelled she gets in a fight. She seems to be repressing her emotions about the death or capture of almost her entire family.

Biography:
Regina was born to a loving and well off family, her mother a Turkish Commission agent and her father a brilliant scientist, working in every field at one point or another. She had two older sisters and a younger brother, as well as a globetrotting grandmother who often came for visits and showered the children with gifts. She had a privileged childhood, never wanting for anything but her wildest dreams. She enjoyed spending her days riding her bike around the streets of her ancient city, seeing the sights and hearing the sounds. When she turned seven her grandmother took her on a trip of Europe, introducing her to what her grandmother called "true art". While initially reluctant to spend two weeks inside dusty museums looking at old paintings, by the end of the trip Regina was begging for more. She began to take private lessons and soon discovered she had quite the talent for all manner of artistic expression. Quickly outgrowing her first tutor in skill, she slowly grew as an artist. Eventually conquering (as well as one can "conquer" art) the traditional styles her grandmother lauded, Regina launched herself into understanding fashion and music as well. By the time she was 14 she knew she wanted to be some sort of artist, but couldn't decide what. By 15 she was receiving letters from several universities in Turkey, wanting her to apply to their art programs. Then she turned 16 and it all fell apart.

During her birthday party, a little over a week after her actual birthday, she found herself moving slower. Looking down, she discovered she was turning into stone, and several floor tiles in their family apartment were merging with her. Overcome with confusion and horror, she fainted. By the time she woke up her mother had called the Commission to report her. She, her father, and her older sisters had been tied up by her mother. Her father and eldest sister were solemn and wouldn't answer any of Regina's questions, but her other sister did. It turned out their father was a Superior, his mental faculties greatly enhanced in scientific matters. It was how he had become so successful, but was subtle enough to not be easily noticed. Her sisters had each been living with knowing they were Superiors for years, the eldest since she was 13, discovering she could read minds, and the one speaking to her since she was 9, with the ability to extrapolate an extraordinary amount of information from even a gesture. Due to the innocuous nature of their powers, their father had been able to keep it hidden from their mother for these years, until Regina had messed it all up by having such a noticeable power. They had not been able to hide from the fury of their mother who was heartbroken she had been lied to all of these years. She sat by, waiting for her fellow agents to arrive, cradling her son, the only normal child she had left. That is, until he exploded. A solid wave of flame burst out from him and everything went dark again. The next thing she knew she was running, her father, mother, and oldest sister consumed in the flames of her brother discovering his powers. For a year they were forced to run, encountering the Commission several times. Over the following months her brother was killed and her sister captured, leaving her alone. That is, until Spectre found her. Now she is set to attend the Academy, perhaps the first safe place for her in a long time. At least, that's what she hopes.

Right off the bat I'm going to suggest it should be limited to artificial objects because otherwise you get to manipulate flesh or bone and that's stupidly powerful if you can just cause someone's shoulder to sprout a bone shard straight up into their brain.

Right! I didn't even think of that. Thank you!

Anything else?

Its already pretty specific. Most of it is just detailing the few abilities (all pretty closely related), including limitations.
