Backstory: About a billion years ago, The Guardian appeared on a planet, now know as Oshivia. The primitive natives of the planet began worshipping The Guardian, and united the planet as a theocracy. The Guardian taught them how to use magic and build technology, and at about 50 million BBY they first encountered another sapient species, and conquered it. They now control three Outer Rim worlds; Oshivia, Kotun, and Garinium. They avoided detection by the Galactic Republic and the Empire by hiring smugglers to transport goods to random planets close to their conquered worlds, and then bringing the goods to the planets themselves by themselves. They also have agents spread across the galaxy.

I assumed you mean the Nightsisters which yeah, that was a voodoo thing and a undead army was raised. Though it is connected to the force.

Well, everything is connected to the force. Even higher-plane entities are force users though they are rare if you count the Father, Daughter, Brother and the Bendu as higher-plane entities. And the force is really considered magic to those that know what it is.
