We need a young priest and an old priest.

Alrighty, I owe posts. Fortunately for me, I've been dragged into the year-end chaos. That means a paycheck! Unfortunately for you, it means I'm not home during the day to write posts... and I have to be a mommy when I get home from work at night! It's going to be hard to cover for Cer while also working, so please have patience with me.

So it's almost 1 AM here, and I have to be in by 8... bedtime for fennecs. I'll knock out a post after work tomorrow.

In terms of making roles, would having someone be somewhat of a pawnbroker (discerner of materials, and thereby their worth) be okay? Seems like something that he could easily and broadly find employment in when not doing missions (Of which, I assume this iteration of PL has some sort of Hub like Galimefury)

Implying I have enough funds to buy stuff to sell them again. But yes, that is indeed a thought.

If it's a common item (electronics, basic jewelry) pawnbrokers typically go with market set prices (weight of gold etc), average price of a used tv. They'll call in appraisers if they need finite valuations (art, intricate jewelry etc).

Understood, but it's not like you have a spare shop lying around for my dude to make a livelihood in.

And if he's a fence rather than/in addition to being a legal pawnbroker, he might know interesting ways to make money quickly.

Also, if he goes on missions where he understands the value of goods in the mission setting, he should be able to make money by arbitrage.

I placed it under "Ply a trade", as he would have no idea what's common or what is coveted in terms of goods, or really anything.

Alright, an update.

As very few of you know, we were in Ontario (Canada, eh). Cer's dad had a massive heart attack and then underwent a triple bypass. It's serious and he's not out of the woods yet. We came back briefly during the Thanksgiving weekend to sort life here, but NS was the last thing on our minds. Cer took off again this evening to be with his dad and to help out his mom. We're hoping he can return in the next week. "No promises" is our mantra at the moment.

I'll be as active here as I can. I'm still working on year end deadlines, as well as the only parent at home for our kiddo. Miss M comes first in life... always. It's anything but a party. I'm so fucking exhausted. I have Cer's password, so I'll be able to log in to check for mentor help requests. I might get some coding done (building upon the setting and transferring bios over to the archive) but... *snort* no promises.

Thank you for keeping PL's IC moving. Please don't let the game die. I think about it, and all of you, daily. <3 For now, park my characters so I don't stall anyone.

Alright, the Best of P2TM 2017 nomination thread is up. We could use some judges, too! If you'd like to sign up (or nominate), the thread is viewtopic.php?f=31&t=429864.

I'd rather not be nominated for anything. I've won several years in a row, and I don't need or want the attention. It's better to nominate new people for the romance and worldbuild categories, please. I realize there are a few other "slice of life" RP out there, and PL has won that category too often. Perhaps we should keep it out of the running this year. Your call. That doesn't mean we can't nominate our awesome players! Plus I don't think the butthead badger has ever won "best OP"... probably because he's a butthead.

I'm not sure. I honestly haven't been able to track PL much. I know Cer wanted me to work on new char bios, since we have new apps. I'm not really in any mood to work on worldbuilding... I just don't have the spare energy needed to be imaginative. I want to RP, but I've fumbled the story with Giovenith and Nick, and can't recall what I was doing with my other characters.

With Christmas around the corner, would players like to bring characters to the Island? We can skip it, or we can embrace it. It's a familiar setting for many, and allows people to go off on their own fun adventures. Plus Christmas... and Mon's characters tend to make the dinner.

If folks want to go to the Island, that's fine by me. I'd like to finish the scene in the holodeck, though. If we cut it after we finish introductions, we're almost done. I can meet my original goal -- Amanda finding out just how ~~crazy~~ dedicated her husband is -- with a single plost.

Alternatively, if people want to explore holo-Alexandria, the Island could sprout a holodeck/holosuite/holo-it just works because we want it to.
