Praise be BBCode. While I do in part agree with Anowa, it's a shame to see a good RP concept have an OOC that looks bad cause the OP doesn't know how to BBCode.

2017 - the US Government is promoting settlement of the lawless "Dead Zone;" a portion of the American interior dominated by the undead, raiders, and hardship. In Dead Man's Stretch, you embark upon a unique game of Oregon Trail. Are you up to the challenge?

I need to get some more specialists and other members of the convoy. Anyone interested?

I am typing this on my phone, so excuse the brevity.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

I must say, I'm a little surprised that people are looking for more RP, given the number and variety of existing RP in P2TM.

But the RPs that are failed will fade to the back of the P2TM board eventually, making sure those without activity will not stay alive to clog the board.

Journey of a Thousand Worlds

Theme Song
OP: Anowa
CO-OP(s):

As you awake, the first thing you compare your surroundings to is a hospital. Except a few things are... different. Instead of mildly brick like the bed you lay upon was very soft, comfortably so. The smell of something unrecognizable permeates the air, though it wasn't sterile like hospitals normally were.

As you lay up, you see various potted plants around the room, something instinctual inside you just knows they aren't endemic to Earth. Other oddly structured beds crowd the back wall of the sterile white room, in a semi-circle pointing towards the doorway; they too were occupied. There was no discernible door knob or opening on the door, although there was a notably raised section in front of it, likely pressure operated like those in supermarkets.

Suddenly it slides open, and in walks a taller being, notably feminine if you hadn't gone fully insane. But she was clad in what looked like a duster and a fully metal helmet, with no discernible eye holes. A design oversight which stumped you on how someone was able to walk through a door, much less one that was pressure operated and likely on a delay.

She spoke in a remarkably distinct voice, as if several people were speaking from the same mouth. "Welcome to the Chrononavigator Corps."

A part of you knows this'll be an adventure.

The Chrononavigator Corps. An Assembly of the most mentally fortified beings from across every universe, dimension and creation. From the Earth you read this from, to the works of fiction written by those that frequent fan-fiction sites. All are known by the Corps, and any can be recruited. The goal of the Corps is to avoid universes merging and in turn becoming veritable black holes, sucking in other universes and dimensions until everything is merged into one chaotic amalgam of creatures, gods, empires, and destruction on an untold and unfathomable scale.

The Corps is hardquartered in the Neitherium, a location outside of every universe, and not entirely bound to any single laws of physics, simply the ones that make most sense to it's denizens. Within it's hierarchy are the Recruits, those who are either fresh to the Corps, or have served a few decades, ranging all the way up tp the Elder Shepards, those who have been members for multiple dozens of millennia.

In between the two to some degree are Shepherds, the essential squad leaders to the Corps' members, having spent so much time between universes they can travel between them on demand, they are the sole being that can do so, and as such they are very experienced in their jobs. You will be a Recruit, starting out your life as a Chrononavigator, under the watchful and helpful tutelage of one Shepherd: Aliana Seyvita.

It's bound to be a journey.
1: OP/Co-OP have final say. No exceptions.

2: OP/Co-OP reserve the right to deny any application for whatever reason.

3: No God-modding or Meta-gaming.

4: No directly controlling another player character unless given permission to do so. As stated above you may freely control any and all NPC’s that are not central to any major plotline.

5: Posts must be a paragraph minimum. One-liners are unacceptable.

6: Try to use correct grammar. No walls of text that are not broken up into paragraphs.

7: Be courteous to one another in the OOC. Feel free to be as much of a dick in the IC as you desire.

8: Be active should you apply. No need to be online 24/7 (as I certainly will not be) but don’t go through the effort of joining and never post anything. If you will be gone for any significant amount of time please leave a message stating that you will be gone. Those who do not risk having their characters killed off.

9: You character cannot be overpowered. You can die and every challenge should be just that, a challenge. Any overpowered characters will bring forth the wrath of the OP in the form of even worse obstacles and outcomes.

10: Have fun.
  • Chrono: Shorthand for a Chrononavigator.
  • Tether: An object or trinket that is spiritually and dimensionally bound to a Chrono. It can never be lost, destroyed, or misplaced so long as the Chrono is still alive.
  • Wean: A wean is a Chrono who has found love in a dimension outside the Neitherium. The name comes from having to wean them off their love, as not only is the Chrono immortal, but also because they cannot visit their beloved without major risk to the seperation of the multiverse.
  • Gwevith: Rooted from the Kyrisi word for lost, a Gwiveth is a former Chrono who has since started wandering across the multiverse, no longer bound to the code of conduct that they once followed. Very rarely are they lower than mid level Shepherds, making them hazardous foes should they be crossed.
  • As mentioned, the more powerful the character, the harder things on your end get. Unless you want your compatriots to get completely destroyed in a fight, keep the power level close to theirs.
  • One character only please.
  • It is up to you to keep track of equipment.
  • Remove everything in parenthesis.
  • Use Metric and Imperial units for measurements.
  • A minimum of two paragraphs is required for the biography.

So Fantasy I guess, in the least fitting use of the term.

Yeah, as well as the people who just so coincidentally get launched from one dimension into another, like self-insert fan-fictions.

ROLE PLAYING
How long have you been role playing?
Twelve, thirteen years

Did you learn to role play on NationStates?
If you count tabletop things such as D&D, then no. This was the first RP forum I've been a part of, though.

What methods of gaming do you enjoy the most?
More narrative things always feel really nice. My favourite part of mechanics-based adventures is the worldbuilding that inevitably happens.

What RP Genre(s) do you play?
Science fiction, fantasy, nation RP. . . honestly I'm willing to do anything if I'm sold on the concept and the people.

What RP Franchise(s), if any, do you play?
I haven't really had a habit of RPing with any franchise in particular. I like original settings just because there're often more surprises for me, but there's also the fact that I just haven't tried as many franchise-based things in the past. Dune or Ender's Game would be really neat though.

Do you have GMing/OP experience?
Sort of. Never with very many people.

What is your area of expertise?:
Worldbuilding/conlanging, writing.

Would you feel confident teaching others this skill?
Not sure how well I can teach writing at least via the Internet as opposed to in person– at any rate not as neatly as you lot can (@Swith). The conlanging I'd be happy to help with though.

In your own words, what is role play?
Role play for me is written acting. You're coming together and creating hopefully not just characters but people, who may be similar to you and may be utterly foreign, but nonetheless you're getting yourself inside their head and thinking differently. Sure, you're writing well and putting on a show for the folks you're with, but you're also hopefully finding that your characters surprise you and pose questions in time, and I think that's singularly neat.

Why do you RP?
I think narrative has a power to it; I think stories are capable of moving people in a really profound way that simple facts and observations never can, and so I love writing those stories and trying to move people. This isn't to say all writing has to have a point per se, because doing things just for the fun of it or without any sense of direction is totally fantastic as well, but I think that still counts as moving people to laughter. Writing collaboratively with other people in the environment of an RP just means I have people to tell a story with, which makes it all the more likely to surprise me and teach me something, and I love that.

ARTISTS
Are you an artist?
Yes, though I do mostly music instead of visual arts these days.

Would you consider doing commissioned work?
Entirely dependent on time. I'd be happy to, but I can't guarantee I'll ever be available enough to make that a reality.

DeviantArt account?
Don't have one at the moment, mostly cause of the aforementioned focus on music. No SoundCloud either, sorry.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Why would you like to join Madhouse?
I've been out of the loop in P2TM ever since the old Elfen High / Elementals crew closed up shop, but I've still lurked around. Joining my current RP region reminded me how important getting to chat with and know people in an OOC sense is for building stories and community, so I figured it was high time I join a group to get that back and have people other than me to listen to. I know (or at least know of) a lot of the people you have around here, and they're all good writers and fun people. Seems like a place I could do well in, so I'm giving it a shot.

Oi you gits, I come bearing new material.

RP URL: viewtopic.php?p=31666003#p31666003
RP Name: New Civilizations
Offered by: Republic of the Cristo, but, yknow, also G-Tech Corporation.
Status: Active
Subforum: P2TM
Theme: Tough to say. A bizarre mix of past-tech faction/nation building, adventure, action.
Premise: You, yes you, have been cast adrift on the sea of time, returning to the physical world in the year 2937 BCE. You, actually you, have also been gifted with the quality of agelessness. In this primitive past, the course of our planet has already been changed merely by your arrival. But it can change oh so much more. What shape will you forge history in to, mighty Author? Step forward, and put pen to paper to write the story of the New Civilizations. (roll credits)

Also, Swith/Cer, you can probably declare LotR: The New Age inactive andor purge it from the rolls. With a new RP in the offing over in the Tolkien Group, I am unlikely to apply the voltage needed to resuscitate it.

There's three that I'd choose in the poll, but I can only choose two.
