That'd actually be kind of cool, like all those storylines you see about mirror worlds, but this one is paper. All paper counterparts are mostly like the real versions, but with subtle but important deviations.

Yes!

I pestered Cer after questions came up in chat. The cutouts aren't as potent as their hero counterparts. They have the magic or tech necessary for them to function. Sterling's horn allows him to magic food prep, and Sep's cybernetics keep running to keep him alive. But Romy's sword isn't the same potent weapon that the real Romy has. Nes can't snuff a large group with just a thought. And now I've forgotten the other examples Cer gave. Romy would be just as physically strong, though.

Basically, we can't abuse them by having them do our dirty work... no making them get boars, etc.

I wouldn't think they would be. It'd be interesting more for the self-reflection and questions about the self than using them for any abilities.

Cer, Co-OPs: Could I get somebody to keep Amanda, Marin, and Jeanne very distracted for this RL week? Something's come up, so I have to work this week, which means I don't have time to play two characters. I was gonna park Amanda anyway, so I could focus on Raiders. The current turn of events would get Amanda's full attention, and I'm just not up for that.

Heads up... we have players that haven't logged in yet. Some characters could/might at least say a word to encourage or dissuade Katya. Unless, of course, they sincerely felt there wasn't a reason to reach out to her. But I don't want to get too far ahead with Katya, thus cutting off their chance to post.

I did a short post for Maghrl for that reason, trying to help at least slightly. Mostly to help her realize there's nothing they could have done.

If this incident's made anything abundantly clear, it's that the Residents lack cohesion. Many of our characters are actively working toward divergent or even opposing goals and the apartment functions more as a shared space for different groups than as a base of operations for any real resistance.

The God War arc might be on-hold for the time being, but it's still this RP's ultimate end. And between our characters and the final battle, we still have a long way to go to acquire weapons, supplies, and allies. If this is the sort of front we're presenting, we're completely fucked. And somehow I doubt Cer really cares if he has to go on a mass killing spree for the final arc.

I would suggest a series of training missions after our little island stint is over, but we already have people executing missions to help level up and train our characters. Players, we need to get more involved in the meat and potatoes of the RP if we want to advance our characters and have meaningful interactions with the world. You don't get to be a badass, you get to do badass things if your characters are capable of them. And the only way to get capable is to train, get items, and make connections.

And we need to understand our characters' places in this world. No one is the hero of the story, here. Our characters all part of the nominal "hero team", but they're as good or bad as we make them out to be.

Mass genocide is not heroic. Putting people's lives in danger so you can rescue or protect them is not heroic. Overstepping boundaries in skill-set or in knowledge in order to be center-stage is not heroic.

Everyone likes to think their characters are somehow justified, the heroes of their story, even if that story seems dark and the heroes might seem villainous at times. But unfortunately, that's not how stories work. You don't get instant justification, you have to show your characters have earned it.

Just to be clear, we... the players... aren't apathetic towards the situation. We feel for you, Torsi. Having a character die isn't fun by any stretch of the imagination, even when we plan it out in full detail and kill them over fifty posts. But her death doesn't mean we want you gone. If you leave, we'll hunt you down and superglue your ass cheeks together in revenge.

And then Agy ninja'd me. The only thing I'd add to that is I'm seeing some pretty common reactions from the battle-hardened characters. You look away when death happens lest the memory revisit you during the hour of the wolf. It's the difference between a medic doing triage in a field and a family member shouting for help in an ER bay. Different mindsets, different motivations.

We have players that haven't been able to post yet. Gio, Mon, Bran, Carly, etc.

And... there's that potential mass killing spree for the final arc. We've got to play to our strengths if we're hoping to come out ahead in that final chapter. Cer doesn't care. If he defeats us all, it's still the final chapter. He can retire. I don't aim to let him win.

Cyanoacrylate sells cheap here. I can buy it on the street, done it before *nodnods*

I remembered the God War is still there, in the background. I retooled Dora as I did because I didn't have much for her to do otherwise - and I figured it would be useful as part of a team.

I'm more than happy to help train chars and team-build.
