I googled your name and location and it brought up all the rest.

The only notable thing I found about myself was an art award I won in high school.

Interesting fact: our HR department checks FB. They want to see what affiliations an applicant has. Does their resume match their profile? Further, they look to see what we employees are up to. By listing your employer, you're promoting your employer to the world. In many states, some personal posts could be just grounds for termination if that employer is on your profile.

High school and college grads are a dime a dozen and the market is saturated. Think of your FB page as your extended resume.

If you've submitted an application somewhere and then sat through an interview, and you suddenly feel you were dropped like a hot potato, your prospective employer might have spotted your personal page. I always recommend making pages private. Have a public one where you shine. Be cautious if you and several friends apply to the same company. Potential employers can see you if you post on their public pages.

-nods- My FB page is on complete lock down and reserved for friends; I also make sure not to tag any affiliations and if I am tagged, only those friends on my list can see it and no one else. If an employer needs to know my business in the cyber arena, they need to explain in full to me why it's their business to be privy that a background check couldn't screen. And if they insist, you're more than welcome to still decline their request: your privacy is yours no matter how publicly (or not) you may be in social media and therefore they have no authority to demand you compromise it.

That's correct. You can make certain info private but people are still allowed to see into your profile, it'll just be very bare. So if someone finds your name and knows your picture, they can stalk your profile. I mean, they won't be able to see anything you post, but if you allow outside messages they'll be able to message you.

I have two old Facebook accounts, one with my name and nothing more, that was made by a girlfriend because, middleschool relations ships weren't real if you didn't have a facebook. And another my mom got me to make which has a picture of me before prom and that's it haha, not even friends.

Thankfully where I live most of the jobs are a handshake and a bit of paperwork away, in fact I will be attempting to get a second job on Tuesday at a local cash-loan place, good pay and flexible hours to work around my weird work schedule at my main job.
