Also, for the purpose of the RP, I plan to devise personal mechanics for my character, would that be cool?

In principle, that's no trouble. Functionally, that depends what you're planning.

Personalization is good. Just not too much of it.

Phew. Only two more sections remaining about the wildlife and the economy, and then I can start writing OOC matters. With that in view, I'll probably start taking applications on Friday folks :)

Goodness gracious.

The OoC is barely three pages long, and already Farholme has a would-be dictator with evil henchmen.

Already the only settlement in the Lands may just be overthrown? I'll take my risk starting a mining town in the Gasping Lands for the goods.

Probably not going to work, honestly. The Wardens don't just hire whoever walks off of the boat to join them.

No thanks. I'll probably be too busy braving the Gasping Dust to play games of stab-and-run in Farholm's alleys.

I was planning to become an actual, competent hippie. Not like the American 1900s hippie communes. The American 1600s hippie communes. The ones that actually knew how to grow food, whilst also looking dashing in their Louis Vitton jeans and flaunting their Parisian sunglasses by a manufacturer you've probably never heard of, because he's underground, where the Gasping Dust cannot take him like it took his three children last season.

So then who will they hire and how can I fit that description?

Likely nobody, to start with. If they need to expand their outpost or something like that, time will tell. You can certainly still work for the government though; they'll always want more silver miners.

Also, I find it quite funny how the most inhospitable region I created is where everyone wants to live.

Got it, make openings by murdering soldiers and erasing all evidence.

That would probably make them get reinforcements from the mainland :P

They also might want to hire more soldiers. Think about it.

Sure they would- but they'd be likely to pull garrison troops from actual Empire barracks and trainees, not arbitrary pioneers.

If it's so easy to access troops from the actual Empire, can I just go there?

Not really, no. I mean, you can, but the reason your characters have left is that they faced a distinct lack of opportunity in the Old World for one point or another. Returning to the Empire is essentially leaving the RP, as you go home and live out the rest of your life in ignominy out of focus of our setting.

Damn. In that case, what if I steal some silver from one of the mines and then use it to bribe a recruiter? That could work.

Hmm, might be a tavern owner to some small hunting and beast taming settlement or guild in the endless forest or perhaps just a simple mining town. Don't know what to do.

Anyway folks, I've finished the OP! Finally! Feel free to begin signing up, and I'll get around to putting together the IC once we have a few folks accepted.

Sure, you could try that. They will be hiring silver miners in Farholme, where you can make a decent wage.

G, need some help. I don't know if I could try to be a tavern owner in the Endless Wood for hunters, lumberjacks, and those who like nature, a gunsmith, or some upstart miner trying to start a mining town. Just don't know what skills to start with but can you help with that?
