Hi, both of you!
Come to the light side.  We have teamwork, waffles, popcorn, grape juice, and way too much ramen.

Unless one is a genealogist, therapist, geneticist, or FBI agent - who is acting within the scope of their job - to claim that anyone is wrong about their own identity is not merely absurd but also extremely rude.

Speaking only generally, as a writer, I'd look to expanding description of the scene a bit; but then I tend toward description rather than psychology. To each their own.

I have this same habit.
I like going into all those little details about what my characters are doing and how the scene looks and feels, but I always am working to add more emotion and feeling.

A good thing to remember with any weapon is that arms and shoulders (and back) tire after repeated use unless the person trains regularly. Minerva might feel fatigue because she'd gone a while without heavy combat. Volt, a character that engages in and trains for it as often as possible, would have a higher endurance.

Someone with combat experience might be able to keep his head but would be at a disadvantage with an unfamiliar weapon. Septimus and his pike during the Battle in the Hall comes to mind. He retained the senses needed to tuck, but the weapon was awkwardly handled. (Nice job with that one, Agy.)

Firearms cause fatigue as well. An RPK is harder to fire than a M249 SAW. Both are light machine guns but the RPK is heavier to carry, the ammo load out weighs more and it has a heavier recoil. All these account for how long a character can go before they feel fatigue, both from carrying it and from firing. Some characters currently carry weapons that, although appealing because of their place of origin, limit their effectiveness due to the character's low endurance or activity level.

Players are loathe to have their badass character feel fatigue. They entirely skip it. Badassery isn't slaying every foe in sight. It's slaying foes until the body protests from the movement, and then pushing yourself beyond that envelope through seer will or a sense of duty or protectiveness. It's what allows char!Bran to be a hero compared to Volturious. Striving side by side, the marine is more impressive when it comes to damaging the foe, but the mundane human is heroic due to indomitable desire. If Bran takes time to write that struggle into his post, he'll have a character that draws our empathy. We inwardly find ourselves cheering the character on.

The above reason is why I frown upon senseless violence and gore, or in big magic. There's no challenge. There's no reason to take interest in the character. Their actions are mental masturbation for their writer but leave the rest of us stifling a yawn as we say, "Men. Big fucking deal." We can't empathize with the character because they're so far removed from our experiences. Worse, they come across as Mary Sue because nothing phases their psyche.

The more powerful the character, the more introspection required when writing. The grander the spell or power, the more catastrophic the fail. They loom larger than life but, when they fall, it should cause everyone on the battlefield to say, "Oh shit!"

Torsii, Tora wouldn't be with the group 5 kilometers away. She lacks the ability to run fast enough to keep up with them. I can't recall how fast exos move, but they can outdistance a thade, and out-of-shape Ocho's booking speed is roughly 70mph. She'd also be hindered by those lovely stone walls, pausing to clamber over them instead of vaulting them.

That group plowed through the first wave of creatures and ran 3 miles. It took a stand to allow the second group of humans time to reach the Building.

What about putting at least one of them in a situation that challenges them more than combat? They don't seem too social or reassuring. What if you had one of them unexpectedly drafted by an NPC or arranged to have a PC unexpectedly draft them into comforting/reassuring/calming down new arrivals who are hysterical but who, as they're uninjured, medics lack time to attend to?

@Cer: do I need to work on the things you mentioned?

Also, this is an excellent point, and one of the reasons why I wanted to set the triage up in the dining room. Exhaustion and fatigue is still a serious hindrance on a soldier. Even about as serious as a bullet wound. It puts them out of the fight because they can't operate to their full capacity. Brit would go around to those who were starting to feel worn out and take them to the dining room where they could sit down and rest and get some water in them. Maybe a snack to keep them going as well. Same as the refugees. She doesn't know how long they've been walking, and they may need something to eat and drink too.

Rather than redact, I'd have my character fall back at the first line once they saw the speed the rest traveled at. They could be part of the force that helped the xenos/others break through.

The point of moving Nes, FUBAR, etc off was so they didn't steal everyone's glory via fantastic feats. I intend to put these potent beings through their paces, perhaps smiting them. You don't want weaker characters tagging along. They'll be the first to fall.

Mon, triage is quick assessment at the cusp of a disaster. This person goes to surgery, this person is wounded enough to be put in holding, this one is a minor scuff and can move on. Theoretically, someone is rapidly filing through arrivals, saying "Library, Critical, Library, Dead..."

Brit can assess those that have gone to library or are under their own power, but taking everyone up a flight of stairs to assess them means those that don't need critical care are coming back down the stairs while those with wounds are climbing in order to be assessed. Assess them at the gate, carry them up the stairs if it's determined they're critical.

Edit: use the elevators as well, for those being carried. It's slower than steps but less awkward for the ones carrying them.

I don't mind at all.

Marcus will take the truck. The Belas have a Jeep, if Slo wants to have Amanda drive it. Myra plans to break into the old step van. And Klaus will borrow Charumati's precious staff car with its hammerspace interior. I believe a few other characters have vehicles. They'll need people to make a hole for the convoy to go through.

Dining room is linked to the communal kitchen, which isn't on the first floor.

The reason Septimus ordered triage on the first floor was to ensure that people would be sorted before moving into the elevator or up the stairs. Puts less strain on the critically injured and, as Cer mentioned, clears up the stairs and the elevator.

If the Fiends breach the door - unlikely given how many people are fighting and the way that the Fiends are being funneled toward one location and thus getting backed up - then protecting the wounded is a secondary priority since they're unable to support the defense effort and, if anything, become a liability over protecting the healthy ones who can work and fight.

Dining room and kitchen is upstairs on the second floor.

The lobby is huge, plus it expanded itself a bit more. One of these days I need to make a sketch of it. Anyway, the reception desk is right by the front door, but off to one side is a large seating area. The rest of the space is empty.
