Description

It is the year 2677, 500 years after the nuclear apocalypse that ruined the old world. Humanity survived either as Independents; settlements that avoided the bombs due to relative unimportance, luck, or successful missile shields, or in underground settlements called Burrows. The Burrows, owned by eight 'Nuclear Security Firms', became hotbeds of corporatist ideology, where the CEOs of the Firms slowly took power. all the while taking transhuman enhancements even they barely understood. Disaster ensured as these plutocrats took over the Burrows, forgetting even the notion that a happy and content populace was more productive. And so, when the 'Eight Ruling Corporations' arose to subjugate the Independents, the world shuddered at the cruelty of fate.

The instruments of subjugation were the unique humanoid machines known as Neural Combatants (NCs). Constructed with special technology that even the Corporations cannot duplicate, these Mecha linked together the brains of their users with the metal body of the vehicle in order to accomplish feats that bordered on the supernatural. While Independents had these machines as well, the Corporations had more of them, and better weapons. And so, it appeared as though the world was going to be put under an iron yoke...until one Corporate CEO, Katlego Kgosi of Tshwane Mining Inc., received a new set of transhuman enhancements, ones that undid the side-effects of his previous ones, bringing him back to sanity.

This coincided with the rising of the Hidden Burrow, Haven. Haven, unlike the other Burrows, was created by the United Nations as their last gift to the world, and developed differently than the places the MegaCorps ran. Embracing principles of Democratic Confederalism, Syndicalism, and Limited Capitalism, Haven stayed hidden from the rest of the planet for centuries, hoarding a great treasure that can tilt the balance of power between the MegaCorps. But now, things have changed; Haven has determined to free the world from the bondage of the 'Ruling Corporations', and Tshwane, now turning against its kin, has sided with it. And in their struggle for freedom and justice, they will find another treasure, a treasure that will change the balance of power...

Description
Mikado City, Japan
Population: 280,000 Person
One day, a gate to another world opened in the city. And from the gate, these invaders, Neighbors as they're called, poured through. The city trembled in terror. The Neighbors' technology rendered them immune to most, if not, all of Earth's weaponry. As they continued to invade and abduct people here and there, and everyone expected the city to fall soon, a mysterious group revealed themselves, and repelled these invaders. They would then announced the following message: "Leave the Neighbors to us. We've trained long for this,".

They've studied the Neighbors' technology, and created an organization to protect "this side", or in other words, our world from them. It's called: The Border Defense Agency. The group built a massive base in a very short time, and prepared defenses against the invaders.

It has been four years since then. Despite the fact that the gate still opens from time to time, and the Neighbors still coming through it, most of the citizen have chosen to stay. Perhaps it's due to their faith in Border, the people living in Mikado City were barely even fazed by the regular explosions and flashes.
