No. I don't want to improve my gaming experience and thus I'm selecting this option because you've pretty much boxed me in to it. I know I don't actually have to select anything anyway but I'm compelled to cast a vote. I know I can go to viewtopic.php?f=31&t=268404 if I really wanted to voice my opinion.

Psssh, I sent in a stealth puppet a long ass time ago and you all still haven't figured it out yet.

I don't remember many of the people that left.

It's still around. It pops in from time to time.

I actually have no idea, because I lost control of it awhile back. That's right, my puppet has become self aware and it might be plotting the robot apocalypse. God help us all.

Swith Witherward wrote:To be fair... when was the last time you allowed the OPs to give you something to do? (Other than the helicopter thing, Natiya going in to Atosh's lair as a spy, Swith asking Bran to teach her how to shoot a camera, etc.)

I promised you that Bran and Swith would hang out. But, when I tried, my character was pushed away because I was at work. Instead, it turned into this silly "they should catfight" stuff over Bran. I couldn't interact with Bran like the old days because you and Torsi started fast posting and that excluded Swith while I was offline. I did my best to set up "isn't this just like the old days?" on the airplane to Urran. But then my character encountered Torsi's jealous character and, as a player, I wasn't online when you guys were posting. I don't think you realize how often you've excluded me from your stuff simply because I wasn't online to post.

And that brings up another point. Scene management. There's still some trouble with that, I think, because handling timing isn't completely precise yet. As in the recent limo discussion scene with Yuri and Swith away from the others.

And furthermore, side stories. It's perfectly fine, and in fact very good imo, to branch if one's characters aren't interacting with other people's. Cliff does this quite well. On the other hand, if they're going to be started, they should be finished. Who besides me remembers that Yoshi was doing psychological profiles of some sort on all the building residents? Anyone? I'm not sure if even Cliff remembers, in the aftermath of Yoshi's many deaths.

The BranRiech wrote:The explosion is the exception, the only major thing any of my characters have taken place in since Swith and Cer had Natiya and Aleki go in dressed as Gestapo agents. That was fun, that's something I'd do again in an instant. The thing is though, and like I always say, there's always better character suited for the job. People want something repaired, they either do it themselves or go find a tech-priest. People want someone to do something action-ey, they go for someone else.

You get where I'm going with that. If I don't fit into any adventures, I expect people to bring the adventure to me, when I post what a character is doing, I'm hoping that something cool will arise out of it rather than simple, boring conversation.(1)

And Swith, you're right about that, seriously, you are. I never liked leaving people hanging, especially if I want to wait for you but I get a "Is [Insert character here] going to get a response?"

It makes me feel obligated to post for them, leaving your character behind.(2)

I still want them to hang out, and I still want things to do from the OP's, because you all know what you're doing.

1 - To me, if someone starts a line of interaction, that person runs the scene and is responsible for coming up with ideas to put into it. I don't know. Is that reasonable? To go back to the old example of the orbital skydiving thing, I had no idea what Dora and Bran could do together. I just pulled that out of thin air to give them something to do. It needn't be that extravagant. It could be Bran (if he knows how) challenging Luce to a game of darts. It could be daring Chrys to dress up like Voldemort and follow Fortu and Monique around. It could be asking MB to watch Rachelle and Tolya for a day.

2 - This is tough. Balancing conversations is hard, even when the participants are all in the same timeframe. Just learn to communicate in the OOC, I think, is the easiest way to deal with that. Ask the RPer to pause.

I wanted to do something a bit non-mashed up. Something amazing with an established background. Something dialed a bit back. Something I loved that was not as crazy but still pretty out there. And I just love Portal.

Aks, Natiya left because she got burned, and figured someone else would do it, that's how I feel as a player as well, that when things are seemingly too powerful, it's not worth my time to stay and try finding a solution. She'd probably just end up sitting back and watching the others deal with it anyways.

It's a damn weed in the lawn.

To clarify: I don't know what Op-Front is. If it's tied to another nation, then no.

Strip away all the game context. The OP and Co-OPs have asked players if they want to join together to work as a team to help the game setting. Simple as that. The "city" (government) is and forever will be a personification of your OP and Co-OPs. But, it's also a sovereign state and, as such, it's not going to allow foreign militaries or governments in. Why? Basic: because we're trying to get the player involved and not the player's nation. You people honestly don't play Diplomacy well, and this is P2TM. It's a whole different skill set and knowledge base that comes from real world laws.

The embassies went the way of the dodo when players couldn't respect the spirit of that element. This isn't a Diplomacy thread. I have zero tolerance when it comes to lack of realism regarding politics and embassies. By rights, Torsi and Bran's nations would have been holding their flaccid cocks in their hands and begging for mercy as the world moved in to curb stomp them when they grabbed land. If you want embassies, you'll play them properly or fuck off. And that, Peeps, is how I address my players in Diplomacy.

Hey, my embassy is still up, although nobody ever really uses it and I keep it around primarily as Ozzall's main employment and a realistic reason why he isn't immediately dragged back to the frontlines.

Also, on the subject of superheroes, eh, kinda sort them as a kid. I only ever liked Spiderman, and my favorite things were almost always the villains.

\m/ \m/

The Marvel Symbiotes for the damn win, always loved those things.

And Swith, I'll be posting. Ceril, I promise to post by the end of Sunday, I just can't think of what to post.

Also out of a personal request, could people just slow the fuck down? It gets irritating when people rapid-fire their posts, and I'm lethargic when it comes to posting (sitting around as ideas swim through my mind), and with rapid posting rates, it gives me even less motivation to post. I'd love to have Volt interact with some of the normal characters, simple for the hilarious disparity between the two beings would make for some funny situations. The problem though is that there's two 'groups' in this RP, and feels like there's two separate RP's. Tilt, Swith, and NVE bridge the groups, but, me, Ceril, Bones, Swith, Tilt, NVE, and some of the newly joined chaps fit into one group, where our posting rates only allow interaction with each other, and trying to do so with anyone else demands time from our hands in order to simply keep up.

Then there's everyone else, which include Urran, Tori, Bran, NA (although he varies as well), etc. There's two distinct groups of people in this RP, and it's getting annoying how this is essentially several separate RP's mashed into one with very little order.

Aeten, that's because you post about once a day. We shouldn't need to conform to you, and you shouldn't need to conform to us. You write yourself into a corner by only interacting with Swith and Ceril, who usually have limited time to be on. You've downright ignored other people who approach your characters for some reason, even if they stated so in the OOC, as I've done twice.

I don't think it's an issue of rapid posting rates, but an issue of participation. Some individuals just aren't on PL very often, not to nitpick. Those that are post at what I feel is a normal rate for the amount of time they spend here. You're the guy who has tons and tons of characters, and yet they don't show up ever again after a few weeks (with the sole exceptions of Volt and Ozzall).

I have one character that I use on a regular basis, and another who is more of a story-helper. Then there are more that are more casual in appearance and aren't listed. I do this because it fits with the basis that I post on: I get involved in what I feel is appropriate, and post varyingly. From what I've seen of you, you've got a lot of cool concepts but you don't always see them all the way through. When you do come in, I don't know how to interact because you just aren't posting very often.

Also, in my opinion, it's important to remember that this is very much a casual RP. There isn't a need to make several paragraphs consistently, and it isn't much trouble to get your character grounded into a mini-story and make double or triple-paragraph posts (at least for me) in regular responses.

Bran....

Blinky doesn't do much. He's a cold fish. He can float. He can house fungus. He can stare at the tv until his eyeballs cloud over and sink into his skull. Blinky doesn't do anything. Blinky is a dead cold fish.

Image

Image

Steve can do a ton of shit. He's even got that mask and tank on. Silly Steve, you're a fish! You don't need SCUBA gear! But Steve can swim, and bob up and down, and look at the TV. He's a cold fish but he's a live cold fish. Steve is interesting because he's not dead.

Kei. A Steve. She can do things but she seldom appears. She hides in the bowl. Now she's back and was useful while Yoshi was dead but she's just tied herself up again with Ti. Kei's about to become a dead cold fish.

Bran. A Steve. It doesn't seem like he can do much. He's not a shark. He's just a regular gold fish. But he's just as interesting as all the other fish because he's alive. Stop trying to flush Steve. He's not Blinky yet.

Rylli. A Steve. She's goes for the worm people dangle in OOC (Anyone have a character free?)

Your weird winged characters: Blinky and Blinky II. Flush them or flesh them out.

You assume your characters are dead fish. Fact is, no one has gone to anyone for anything because no one knows what anyone can do. It's very hard to RP your concept in this thread. A mechanic? He has a shop. No one needs anything fixed. It's just like no one has noticed that Swith has a medical clinic with a door RIGHT THERE in the lobby. Well, Volt and Tipper used it.

Your Steves seems like Blinkys because they'd been nothing but cold fish. You've been trapped in the same drama cycle and they're floating at the top of the bowl. The same is happening to Torsi's sisters. The same is happening to Ti and Yoshi. Break away from it. Why don't the three mortals find a way to work together as a small cell? Slap some SCUBA gear on that fish with that regard. Break out of the cycle and let your characters swim.

Torsi, I'm still trying to figure out why the sisters hate the government. It's sort of like that time I sat down and listed every supernatural character and pointed out that Torii interacts with all of them so her "supernatural hatred" was really only targeted towards Swith and Minerva. Swith hadn't, at that time, manifested any powers in front of them and no one knows that Minerva isn't anything but human.

So what did the city to do earn scorn other than tell everyone "Hey, no foreign aid, thanks. We're like America in that regard!"

Aeten, the embassies went the way of the dodo because they were done poorly. Cer doesn't want them.

Last minute edit: Also, goodnight to Bones and Branny!

Mainly because those are test runs. I have to have motivation to run a character (due to being a depressed tired sod), and the only way I can check is if I run them temporarily as a character. Hence how I've said magnets on a fridge before.
Helps too when my internet works. This entire month I have to constantly disconnect and reconnect to load a simple HTML page. FYI, AT&T sucks, and even more if it was your technologically incompetent mother who's tasked with fixing it.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Actually, I really shouldn't have Katya be angry at authority....sorry on that one.

As for Torii: she's a teenager. She doesn't like being under the city government, when she's still used to doing things her own way, or the way she would under her own. She also didn't like hearing that they were watching the apartment dwellers. Even under a dictatorial leader, she wouldn't expect to be watched much.

As for supernaturals...she's more jealous, or angered, but she doesn't hate them. It will occasionally manifest in anger, or she'll later realize she overreacted. She's seen a bit of Chaos, and she doesn't like them.

She's like that one redneck that "hates" blacks or Latinos, but has a few black or Latino friends. The one that's like "I hate those n***ers, but you're alright for one. No offense."

Damn it, I don't know if I'm saying this well enough. I'm used to all that there colloquial speak.

That makes sense.

So why did your test runs get involved in complicated stories or not get introduced at all? The Chryssalid was there for one case. ONE CASE. And in fact, neither Ray, Dora or Albert were allowed to find out anything about what he was doing because of how you'd set up that case. You made it so that I could physically not find out anything about his activities without Metagaming, and that case that I was very excited about was essentially ended by NVE taking over and leaving it on a giant mystery blob. Perfect crimes aren't fun because you can't unravel them as players or characters. Players aside from the GM only get glimpses at what really happened if they're not allowed to uncover the truth. That case could have gone on much longer if you'd have let it. And why not? You never brought the character up again afterwards.

And really, internet's a fickle thing. But I've seen the excuse for good over a month. I honestly get tired of hearing the same things from the same people over and over again, and I just want to write on an internet forum about a bunch of crazy apartment people. I feel that when it's not your internet, it's WH40K. And when it's not that, it's Battlefield 3. It's a number of things that seem to keep you from posting, and I think I've seen too many magnets on the PL fridge get slapped on and then thrown into the plastic bin because someone didn't like the color or because they bought it on sale.

I still wanna try again....

Okay....

Torii likes the supernatural characters. However, as an entire force, she doesn't care for them. As for Chaos, from what little she's experienced of it, she knows that it's a major threat, and doesn't like it. In the future, she may even be hostile to it. Same with some gods.

She likes Swith and Naomi and Minerva, but if she knows they're Chaos, she'll be wary. That time Bones (before Mon left) had that guy try to blow up Lidev and Torii? She's not too find of mysterious men in suits now. Then again, I don't think many people would be.

Hmmmm....what about Gio? I don't know. Torii thinks of her as a friend. What if she became a god? Torii would still be a tad wary, and maybe upset that the other girl would have more responsibility, but she'd be very happy nonetheless.

Prim? She likes the Luxans, but hates the monsters. That's normal, though.

Conservators? She probably hates them. She's getting used to Dora, she likes Chrys, is wary of Tasia, and a bit creeped out by Luce.

Let's see....I'm starting to ramble.
