"That night, the constable was heard running through the town. He was ranting incoherently, screaming obscenities at god and at the isolationists. The men of the village couldn't calm him, so they beat upon his head until he lost consciousness. They went to his home and found his son dead upon the floor, having bled tears from his eyes until he died.

"They immediately ran to the widow's house to check on her and the child. The woman and girl were both fine, and a bit put out at having been woken so late in the evening."

"Within the next few hours, the village had fallen into chaos. Not my kind of chaos, just the general sort that comes along when everyone you know and love is about to die. The girl was set upon, blamed for this unknown plague that would soon destroy them all, but the widow was adamant that the girl remained symptom free. She defended the child, barricading herself within her hut and firing a shot gun towards any who approached. Meanwhile, more people began to fall ill, coughing up blood before quickly succumbing to a high fever which brought on wild thrashing and hallucinations.

"Calls went out to the major city and the government, desperate pleas for aid. Given the time of night, their frantic phone calls went unanswered. By dawn, those who had not died while bound in their huts lay dead in the streets in their feverish attempts to flee. Only the widow and child, barricaded with the hut remained, but the woman was too terrified to leave. She held the child to her breast, cursing the plague that took her people away.

Bran drunkenly nodded, reminded of a Chemical weapon with similer symptoms that never made it to production before killing all the scientists involved, and warrenting the Branriech'sfirst use of Nuclear weapons outsde of a test.

"The coroner, meanwhile, had no new leads and wished to close out the case. He returned to the village that afternoon, and stood horrified at what he stumbled upon. He, too, covered his face with a cloth, and he clutched at a small crucifix worn under his shirt.

"He called out the names of people he had known, hearing no reply. But the widow's wails answered him and he ran to her hut to investigate. She did not fire upon him, but flung her door open wide."

"You're just too drunk . . ." Muttered Bran, shushing him so Swith could continue. Bran clearly didn't know that he too was also drunk.

The four brothers turned in unison and shushed Tsu.

"The coroner stepped inside and the widow frantically explained that it started with the constable's son. She begged him to not harm the little girl that her heart had fallen in love with. She fainted into his arms, her grief too great to bear. He set her down upon her bed and went to find the child. The girl was standing in the bathroom, her catatonic face staring out the window.

"The coroner suspected the child of being ground zero, a host of some undetectable disease, but it didn't make sense to him that the widow wouldn't also be ill or, by now, dead. He approached her. The constable's son had brought the disease to them. It had to be the answer. The girl looked perfectly healthy, except for her emotional trauma."

Giovenith nodded.

"Swith is telling a story..." whispered Giovenith.

"The coroner knelt on the floor and called the child over to him. She whimpered but allowed him to hold her.

""Poor child, sweet child," he said to her and brought her to the widow. He walked down the lane and called his contacts in the city, explaining the situation and asking for the government to come involve itself quickly, and then he returned to the widow's house with fresh water.

"The widow was still feeble and incoherent from her grief and worry. The coroner focused on the little girl instead, washing her tears and offering her water to sip.

"The child accepted his attention. She leaned close to him, hugging his neck, and then stood on her tiptoes to whisper into his ear.

""I remember what happened," she said in her small voice. "I remember what happened to them all..."

""What happened, child?" the coroner asked, wiping her tears and offering her more water.

"The child trembled and stood by the widow's bed, seeking comfort from a women too fraught with pain to respond. The coroner approached them both and knelt once again, eager to hear the tale.

""It was the monkeys," the girl whispered. "They chattered and howled and came into the village. They stole food and wet in the water. They were a bad thing, and the chieftain wanted them gone. I always loved them because they made me laugh. They were so funny. But he killed them all and then told everyone to eat their meat."

"Her sad face turned to the floor and she whimpered in anguish."

"The coroner nodded, understanding how easily disease could be transmitted. "So it was the monkeys who did this," he stated bitterly.

A jolt hit Bones as all the dots connected. It was all too obvious who did it.

What was his name again? N- something... Nurtle?

Mon was somewhat surprised, but was still saw it coming. She was still listening to the story anyway, as it was very interesting.
