Where it's based in Afghanistan, US soldiers have left Afghanistan, and we can play as either Taliban or Afghanistan.

As interesting as that would be to play as either insurgents or a poorly trained, under equipped force, I can't imagine too many people would be interested in that because there's no Americans.

So here's what's in my mind.

The setting is a mixture of Post Medieval and Steampunk.

The basic premise is this:

You are the personal guards to a King whom you serve loyally and protect from assassins on a regular basis. However, come night, your outlook starts to change and you start to become darker and murderous. This is your Sellsword Streak kicking in. Every night, whenever the moonlight falls on your eyes, the transformation kicks in and while you physically stay and look the same, inside, you become something else.

So Knight by day, Assassin/Mercenary by night. And the best part is that your memories are isolated meaning you'll remember your Knight memories only in the day and your Sellsword memories at night.

The question is, how long till the contract is on your own king?

So what say? Challenging?

Well, to be honest, the Boxer Rebellion was all about the European powers (and westernized Japan) practising the merry sport of Imperialism on China.

Admittedly, it wouldn't be exactly like China. It'd be a fantasy version, and so would hold a different name and different cultures and such.

It was inspired by my own personal novel, which can be described as an Indian fantasy epic (similar to Game of Thrones in some ways). So a way to describe this rp that never was is Chinese Game of Thrones.

Hell, I'm probably one of the worst offenders. My character in Postapocalyptia, Hiram Dupont, is a Jewish Frenchman, but I made him an atheist who hasn't been to France since he was a kid. I only realized this when I stopped to think about it, and it's because I can't identify with either Jews or Frenchmen.

I haven't had too much trouble playing different cultural characters. I just play normal people, because people are mostly the same from place to place. The rest I extrapolate from my travels and from Wikitravel/Wikipedia.

That makes sense, but I guess I'm subconsciously afraid of portraying someone in a way that would conflict with a realistic depiction of their culture. That's also why I don't RP as a woman, like, ever.
