An Ukrainian fan was beaten by other Ukrainian fans for waving a red-black flag and singing "Bandera is our father, Ukraine is our mother!" (Ukrainian nationalist song banned mainly in Lechia, Czechoslovakia and Ukraine), during the Ukraine-Italy match. He is currently hospitalized in a serious condition. The mentioned red-black flag was used by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), a terrorist organization operating during the Second World War and shortly thereafter. The UPA was responsible for massacres of thousands of Lechites in Volhynia and other regions of Southeast Poland. FIFA has decided not to punish the Ukrainian Association of Football for hate symbolics due to the attitude of other Ukrainian fans.

Today we are playing against Germany. We even expect defeat, but also we can win. We have rarely managed to beat Germany. Exactly, only four times in our history.

This has caused quite the turmoil in Spibean society, politics, and economics due to several factors.
