I’m not very active in the NS Sports Forum, but considering the evidence of cheating by Vilita and Turori, I am obliged to support this proposal.

I'm not surprised that this thread exists, and I expect it to pass, but there are some of us who still feel that Vilita's positive contributions to NS Sports outweigh the negatives. The revelations of his puppetwanking were a shock and there has been a loss of trust. However, I still feel that some people have overreacted.

Vilita's puppets were not abusive or obnoxious enough to gain notoriety or get ejected from Esportiva on their own merits. They didn't have much impact on the region at all until we got the context that those nations belonged to an experienced player who should not being acting so dumb.

Vilita's childish behavior happened over a long period of time, and people seem very focused on how long it went on -- but it did not happen all that often. We're talking about someone that gets in some kind of mood once or twice a year and posts something totally dumb, not someone that goes trolling on a daily basis. It is common for NSG trolls to stir more shit in a month than what Vilita did over a period of 20 years. We're all still talking about "Vilita's puppets" -- not saying "Vilita is a puppet of [notorious troll]" -- because the legitimate RPs posted under Vilita, Turori, Tropicorp, etc. still represent the overwhelming majority of his activity on NS.

We don't actually know if any tournaments were rigged. There are reasons why people are questioning Vilita's integrity as a host, but it's still unclear how much he actually tampered with anything (or if there was any tampering at all).

I still expect this to pass, though. The original commendation would not have happened if everything was out in the open back then.

I'm not going to comment on the rest of your post given my extraordinarily limited experience in NS Sports. But, last I checked, we didn't give NSG trolls Commendations

There's nothing wrong with being mischievous, and the actions that went beyond the mischief are forgivable, in my opinion. Users like Vilita have certainly had a greater positive impact on the community than the mistakes that they have made.

But that's the thing, as Sherpa pointed out, it's highly unlikely that Vilita and Turori (and Crystilakere, and Raptor Claw, and Space, and Esportiva, et al) would have been commended in the first place had this been known -- and I say this as someone whose own experience in the community owes itself to VilTur, to some extent. I get that different communities of nations may have different feelings about the use of deceptive tactics in the sort of activity they're involved in, but I don't think I'm alone in saying that this was a serious breach of trust in the NS Sport community, and while he may be someday forgiven, that's a far sight different conversation than leaving up a commendation that was built on a wave of activity that was a significant transgression in the first place.

However, a few suggestions to some of the central portion's language to keep it "in character," so to speak and to prevent usage of words like "puppets."

Shocked by the revelation that the sporting organisations of Vilita and Turori committed a sustained campaign of deception in the sporting community, including entering undisclosed participants into at least a dozen tournaments in order to bypass permissible limits.

Appalled by the harassing behaviour of some of these undisclosed participants across multiple regions of within the sporting community.

I'd also suggest providing some additional information to the "Disturbed" line.

I like this as a way to translate OOC into IC, I'm trying to find a way to phrase that's a little harsher than 'undisclosed participants'. It goes beyond entering a single athlete into a competition they shouldn't have. I've decided against the use of 'within': these region(s) are open to all and are not limited to the sporting community.

I think the wording is fine; however I'm not convinced that the situation necessitates repeal for the reasons stated by The Sherpa Empire. That said, I don't expect one vote to have much impact on this proposal.
