While no restricted items were noted in your application of declared goods and possessions, the flower pots containing Viridian white lillies will be subjected to standard agricultural screening procedures by the Border and Customs Control Force upon entry to Meridon before it can be delivered to the embassy grounds or the ambassadorial residence.

Sirs, Ma'ams;

I did not think I would be writing this letter, to be frank. To some extent, I hoped I never would have had to. But we're here now, I suppose. And my cousins tell me that this will be 'therapeutic' in some way.

Attached is an initial form listing out the basic information & logistical requirements envisioned for the embassy of the Commonwealth. Much of it has carried over from the previous ambassador; some of it will be new. (He will be staying on too. Really, in practice, he'll probably still be running the show. I'm just here to shadow him and rubber-stamp what he does, I suspect.)

I took some attempt to understand what went into these things, as the incoming mission head - but I may have missed some. Please review the attached form and reply with issues or suggested changes. I have also been given materials on Meridon by my new - 'staff'. I will likely not have learned everything when I arrive. Please do not laugh too much at this old woman when she inevitably slips.

The origins of Jadwiga Stoliska, like all other nature-spirits, are shrouded in mythology and half-truth. What is well-established, however, is that she enters the record relatively lately - around 3000 years ago is when archeological evidence - as well as eyewitness accounts by older nature-spirits - begins of her existence, and she is not attested to in writing until the Middle Ages, roughly 1000 years ago. From there the record becomes more firm, but Stoliska and Stoliska's Peak remain a relative footnote until the Partition of the Commonwealth.

Existing records of House Stoliska and it's holdings prior to the Partition already indicate that it was only moderately wealthy; however, Stoliska's dogged refusal to accept the Commonwealth's new occupiers sent her house, as well as the general area, into full-blown generational poverty. The protracted, on-and-off, two-centuries long insurgent campaign reached it's peak during the Second War of Adraestian Hegemony(AWII), 70 years ago, and continued up until the August 15 Uprising and the overthrow of the Blauveldter-Ryszanan People's Republic. All in all, the prolonged insurgency saw scores of Jadwiga's Stoliska's family killed or missing, including six husbands, 60 sons, 84 daughters, and hundreds of nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and other relations.

In the present day Stoliska has generally advocated xenophobic policies, and has additionally made common cause with human politicians that argue for greater ethnolinguistic homogeneity within the Commonwealth. With regards to foreign policy, she has argued for a more cynical and critical approach with the Commonwealth's allies - with a particular contempt for Adraestia. Meridon has not been spared her ire either, however, and her pressure on the Sejm lead to a slew of (temporary and now-repealed) measures in connection to the Advent Island incident.

In a stroke of irony, however, her arrival to Meridon during the Advent Island incident warmed her opinion of it considerably, though she remains fundementally uneasy about how the depths of it's commitment to the Commonwealth. This, combined with personal issues involving her family, has recently caused her to seek the position of ambassador to Meridon, in order to distance herself from electoral politics.
