Felicidadia doesn't have an official language however the "de facto" language is english and is the native tongue of most of our citizens. However our citizens speak a lot of other languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, Bengali, Hindi, Chinese, and Felicidadian Sign Language.

A lot of our towns are also in Spanish due to spanish countries having a big influence on the country.

Language(s) of Tsarstvo Alyaski.
Being a colony of the Russian Empire foremost, and then the sole lands of the Russian Empire upon the Bolshevik's rise to power, it's no surprise that Russian is the most popular language in the country, and the official language of the country. Around 86% of the population either call Russian their first language, or are fluent in it, three percent of the population can only speak Yupik/Inuit, and 10% of Tsarstvo Alyaski's citizens can only speak English. The last one percent speak other languages, such as east Asian languages.

Portuguese (called Lusitanian in world Eden) is our official language, spoken by most native Neotopians. However, four languages are recognized as national languages. These languages are spoken in certain regions by a substantial part of the population and are historically significant. These languages are Spanish (called Orroestallian, spoken in Southwestern Neotopia), Ikelian (spoken in Northeastern regions by both Ikelian and non-Ikelian people), Mutese (spoken in rural areas of the Southern states), and Turkic (actually a variant of Tatar, spoken in the Desert of Olpalonga).

The three official languages of the North American Union are English, French, and Spanish, reflecting the colonial heritages of the NAU. Indigenous languages are used in some general functions, such as Crown-Native treaties.

The commonly spoken language is English, followed by Spanish and then French. Language policy allows for monolingualism and bilingualism in all provinces, with a few local areas and the general government using trilingualism as official policy.

Katas does not have any official languages, but in practice almost everyone speaks Katasian, and unlike other countries that don't have official languages, we do not do much to help those who don't speak the most common language except for offering translators for those accused of crimes, so their is a lot of pressure on immigrants and tourists to learn the language.

Katasian's root language is unknown, as it has been influenced by every major (and many minor) languages across Afro-Eurasia, resulting in a gestalt language that technically belongs to every language family at once

There is very little in the way of wholly different dialects of Katasian, due to our country's small physical size and high population density, though the language itself tends to change and evolve more rapidly than others, and there is a lot of slang and euphemisms, most of which seemingly changes overnight

Like many countries, English is the most commonly spoken second language, with French, German, and Italian more or less tying for third (those are 3 of the 4 official languages of Switzerland, our only official ally)

Katasian technically has it's own alphabet, historically it was a messy combination of various, very different systems, but over time it has morphed and condensed into an extended Latin system with a few Cyrillic letters thrown in
I use all NS stats (even the dumb ones like weather) except for population

Catarra island in the South Western Mediterranian. was inhabited mostly by Arabs and local arabized Christians. It was conquered by northern Christian lords (Mainly Normans and French crusaders) from the Century XI to XIII. The many Arabs warring lords fearful of Almorabit and Almohade empires. Started hiring Christian warlords and fell gradually to their Christian employees warbands. Those lords ruling the island called for settlers from their lands and settled their soldiers. The island was gradually converted back to Christianism.
Catarra ruled by the Kingdoms of Majorca, Sicily and the Aragonese Crown. It was a hub for Mediterranean trade between western Europe, North Africa and the Levant. from the XIV to XVIII century. In the XVII century Spanish Kings expelled the last Muslims from the island and many settlers from southern France went to the island. Then in the peace of Uttrech it passed from Spain to Austria, so many Hispanic habsburg supporters settled in Catarra, and then to French area of influence and French is still considered a "high language ".

Catarran, is difficult to classify as it's a strange mix between Semitic and romance language. Some consider it a pidgin. But most school are consider it a romance language from the Gallic group as it the group that influenced more catarran language.
It must be said that catarran is very influenced by Arab in average 20% 30% of catarran words are influenced by Arab. Then most other words are of romance origin words. Especially Occitan, Catalan, Castilian, Italic languages as modern Italian and Italic languages like, Ligur, Sicilian and Sardinian and Modern French. Catarran is written is Latin characters. Grammar is influenced by French grammar. Depending of the context. You can use Naut Catarrès or Bas Catarrès.

Bas Catarrès is the everyday colloquial and vulgar language, is used more in rural areas, it uses about 40% of Arab words and sentences tend to have a. This one is the one with more arab loans. And, could be classified as a romaniced semitic language.
While, Naut Catarrès is used in more formal uses, like higher education, businesses, etc. And it has the less Arab loans and sounds more European. The sentence construction is romance.
And is used more in urban areas.

Technically the same catarran concept tends to have at least a more Semitic form for colloquial use an a romanic higher or technical form.

Does YN have national, official or regional co-official languages?
Bunkaiia's national language is Bunkaïan. It is a Middle Persian derivative that was creolized with Old Sakalava Malagasy 1500 years ago. Overtime the language has endured steady Swahilification, both due to the economic interconnectedness between Bunkaiia and East Africa as well as centuries of being a safe haven for runaway escaped slaves.
Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and English all played a role in terms of colonial influences which can still be felt - including in the main Bunkaiian language.
Regional minority language with official status include Yabuneïan (a Tulu-derived Dravidian language), Pinoni (Yemeni Hebrew relative), Mewen (Dutch creole) and Hashadoomani (Mandaic-Soqotri hybrid)
How many speak them and are they sub-divided in dialects?
Notable Regional Bunkaïan dialects include: Bolongashi, Doleishi, Shawotsishi and - albeit controversially - Ponaigashi
Yabuneïan has two distinct dialects: Maleibidulan and Samberitian

What's your favorite word from your national/official language?
Trot apaa toi (troht uh-pah toy) = "Blessing upon thee" is a common greeting toward strangers
What's the alphabet used and is the language standardized?
Latin alphabet since Italian colonization, however the original script is still being deciphered.

More information to be added later.

Andocarian English

English is the de facto language of Mainland Andocara, being primarily spoken by 80% of the population. Andocarian English is a variant of North American English, so it shares most features with general american english such as, but not limited to, rhoticism and sandwiched t's that sound like d sounds. It's hard to distinguish an Andocarian accent from that of a general american accent. However, there are notable differences in word choices. Examples:
While the most common words used to refer to a bubbly carbonated beverage in the U.S is soda, or pop, in Andocara the standard term used is soft drink. Andocarians occasionally use soda or pop, but for most part, the term preferred is soft drink.
Mall is a term that is uncommon in Andocara. The primary word used to refer to a mall is a shopping center. People in Andocara sometimes refer to a plaza, or area with alot of stores as an arcade, which is a unique trait of Andocarian English. Andocarian spelling, unlike other English speaking countries, mostly follow American conventions. Color is used rather than Colour, Center is used rather than Centre, realize is used rather than realise, defense is used rather than defence, and so on. There are rare cases where the non-American spelling variant is used, particularly in words that are spelled differently in British English but the same in American English. For example, like British English, 'tyre' is used to refer to the ring-shaped component that surrounds a wheel's rim on a vehicle in Andocarian English. And instead levels to a building are referred to as storeys rather than stories.

Andocarian Spanish

Andocarian Spanish refers to the variant of Spanish spoken in South Andocara (known by locals as Andocara Sur). Andocarian Spanish is very much a variant of Latin American Spanish, and its accent is similar to the Baja California accent. Though the vocabulary is largely the same, the main distinction between Mexican Spanish and Andocarian Spanish is in the use of some vocabulary. Mexican Spanish has been influenced by prominent Indigenous Mesoamerican languages, while Andocarian Spanish has been influenced by Indigenous South Andocarian languages. Andocarian Spanish is somewhat different from the Spanish taught in Mainland Andocarian schools, which is a more neutral form of Spanish. Though this type of Spanish is widely used in San Marcuba, South Andocara's largest city, while the real distinct Andocarian Spanish is found outside of that area.

Andocarian French

Andocarian French is the French spoken in North Andocara, also known as Andocara du Nord. Andocarian French is very, very similar to Metropolitan French and closely matches the French taught in Mainland Andocarian schools. Andocarian French however is on the decline, and a new dialect that's on the constant rise is Andocarian Franglais, which has become a relative standard in Menetou.

The Gohulian Republic of Bunkaiia's official languages include Shibàñ (SHEE-bung) and English. There are also the four regionally recognized minority languages of Yabuneyan/sheïabàneïa, Pinonimic/Shipinonimi (aka Shipino), Doyan/Shidoïan, and Hashadoomani/shihašadumani (aka Shihaša or Shiduma) and the four protected minority languages of Italian, Miwen-Dutch, Boloñgaši,

Šhibàñ - SOV
Main language and is spoken by nearly 60% as a first language.
Derived from Middle Persian but creolized with Old Doyan and Insular Swahili. Loan-words or influences from Tulu, Italian, Arabic, Portuguese, Dutch, French, Soqotri, Somali and English exist.
Example: Mai toïomka doši = I love you
Mai denaïanašena doši = I love mathematics
Boloñgaši is a Bunkaiian sister language and is spoken by a 3 isolated undeveloped villages deep in the Bàràñnoan/Burungnoan Cloud Forest. Only government-certified personnel are permitted to enter the Boloñgashi villages. The language maintains an equally strong Middle Persian-Malagasy double identity and hints that early Šhibàñ may have lost some Malagasic influences through the years.

Sheïabàneïan
There are two dialects, Shimalei and Shisàmberi, both are spoken in the Maleibidulu-Sàmberiti Autonomous Collectivity. The language is closely related to the Dravidian language of Tulu, spoken in the Southwestern coast of India.

Shipinonimi
Spoken in the Chaykàroš Autonomous Region, which is situated almost completely in the historically-isolated Shaimosi Valley. It is closely related to Yemeni Hebrew.

Doïan languages (aka Safiloafushian/Shisafiloafushi, named after the two main languages)
This language family spoken on the Doïan Islands Tribal Collectivity, is closely related to Old Sakalava Malagasy (especially Kibushi on Comoros) and is the oldest recorded language on Bunkaiia. Eight dialects exist, but most are spoken by only a small group now and many are threatened of going extinct. The two most spoken dialects are Safiloan (aka Shisafi), which is spoken in the regional capital of Safiloa, and Fushian (aka Shifushi), which is spoken on the Southern Doïan islands/Doyan islands.

Shihašadumani
Spoken on the Autonomous Nestorian Christian Theocracy of Hašadooma, Shihaša/Shiduma is another creole language albeit between Soqotri and Aramaic. Many Portuguese loan words exist as well due to continued cultural ties.

Italian has been spoken by an urbanized community primarily in Portolentia since the Italian colonization attempt in the 1870s and continued immigration thereafter primarily of East Africa colonies.
Miwen-Dutch is spoken by a small isolated community living on the island of Miwen/Sañ-là Meuen. They are descendants of the old Franco-Dutch pirate Republic that existed there in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

Official Language
Pirusavia is a home to many different languages and their dialects, but only uses one language, Pirusavian, which is a standardized version of Lower Mervalian dialect. Since regional languages are still very prevalent, Pirusavian around 45% spoken as a second language.

Pirusavian uses both Cyrillic and Latin. Latin is much more widely used in daily life, but Cyrillic is mandatory for writing official documents. Therefore, sometimes Latin is called as "street script", and Cyrillic as "library script". Pirusavians are taught both alphabets at early age and can understand both alphabets. Cyrillic came into usage due to influences from Pirusavia's Orthodox communities and neighbouring countries in the 15-16th century. Latin only came into usage during the early 19th century due to influences from Western countries, but never seen widespread use. Pirusavian, along with both of its alphabet systems were standardized in 1838 by the Society for Literate Pirusavia, which has substantial influence in the Pirusavian government.

Pirusavian belongs to the isolated language family of Pirusovic language tree, which did not relate to any other language families. Pirusavian, along with their linguistic cousins, shares the similar grammatical characteristic of being capable of agglutination and polysynthesis to some extent, putting two or more different morphemes into one long word with a sentence long meaning, although this is not grammatically arbitrary, and can be split into different analytic words.

Pirusavian (and Mervalian) is different from other Pirusovic languages as they employ a wide usage of vowel harmony.

My favourite word is "Zash" (Заш). It generally means "unity", or "federation", which is the core values of Pirusavia.

Example of Pirusavian:
Marḡ parveši gornĕ rovirnĕ u semaldĕ uz aūdarĕ u geršĕ. Une gazumarĕ sĕ ḡersarzĕ u imare u sĕmĕ raūs anḡušarĕ u zaštervelin̄.
Марѓ парвеши горнә ровирнә у семалдә уз аӯдарә у герше. Уне газумарә шә ѓерсарзә у имаре у сәмә раӯс анѓушарә у заштервелинь.

Pirusavia, being divided by its major ethnical boundaries, have their own languages. Mervalian, Samgurtian, Pecanian, Galennian, Mevanian, and Puronian. The state with the most usage of regional language is Samgurtia, and the state with the least usage of regional language is Mervalia. These 6 languages, along with Pirusavian, also belong in the Pirusovic language tree. There are plenty of local dialects in every states.

All of these 6 languages are taught in schools all the way from elementary to high school. However, since recent years, the usage of regional languages have declined in favour of Pirusavian and English, especially by the young populace.

These aren't taught in schools and usually only studied by a few linguistics students in metropolitan Pirusavia along with the traditional users of these minority languages.
