Your nation's (IC, non-NS) population 3,200,000 (Latest Census)
Would you like to receive a TG updating you when your nation has been scored? Of course!

Corruption Prevalence
How many corruption-related arrests are made every year? Less than 20-26 arrests/year.
How many acts of corruption are estimated to go unchecked every year? More than a hundred.. Probably.
Do citizens complain about corruption via social media or other channels? Very often in Social Media but no action is regularly made except for extremely severe cases.
Have you (the official participating in this survey) seen corruption in the past year? Yes.. Everyday as usual..
Did your leader come to power via transparent, trusted and legal means? No, Pres. Charmie Mariane Olivarez took over the position as the former president suddenly left her position. She only took office by announcing it only on a few members of the party without consultation from anyone, even to the opposing parties and even to the people.

Corruption Prevention
Are there specific laws prohibiting individuals from participating in corrupt acts? Yes, but not enforced at all.
Are elections for national, state and local government free, fair, open and subject to inspection? Elections in Sabiduria-Sophiania are a complete mess.. At one time, the majority party made and split factions to make their own fake elections, the opposing parties (Including the ruling party and others) were not allowed to participate. And the candidate they are wanting to win on the fake elections were defeated by a well known candidate of the majority party despite the other candidate scoring 10,000 more votes than her.

If so, are they given freedom to report on confirmed and possible cases of corruption? Yes, at their own risk.

What is the maximum sentence for committing electoral fraud? N/A
What is the maximum sentence for misleading voters in an election? N/A
What is the maximum sentence for committing a conflict of interest crime? N/A

END
Are you satisfied with this index?Of course!
Any suggestions or comments on how to improve? More indexes like this, and sure I'll answer it always!

Postby First American Empire » Mon Apr 05, 2021 4:20 pm

Your nation's full name (including pretitle) Empire of the United States of America. (Use First American Empire in rankings or any other fields that list multiple nations.)
Your nation's (IC, non-NS) population ~500,000,000
Would you like to receive a TG updating you when your nation has been scored? Yes please.

Corruption Prevalence
How many corruption-related arrests are made every year? 109,315 as of last year.
How many acts of corruption are estimated to go unchecked every year? ~200,000.
Do citizens complain about corruption via social media or other channels? Yes, and they do so very frequently.
Have you (the official participating in this survey) seen corruption in the past year? Yes. As my position involves prosecution of corruption, it would be very strange if I had failed to find any corruption.
Did your leader come to power via transparent, trusted and legal means? Our Emperor inherited his throne after the death of his father. He was the firstborn child and designated successor. I personally don't think having an absolute monarch is a good idea, but the law's the law.

Corruption Prevention
Are there specific laws prohibiting individuals from participating in corrupt acts? Yes.
Are elections for national, state and local government free, fair, open and subject to inspection? There are no elections for national government, and several state and local governments are not allowed to hold elections. State and local elections, where they exist, are usually free and open, and are often inspected by international observers. Said inspection, however, often uncovers irregularities and fraud due to poor election security on the part of state governments, and thus elections cannot be considered "fair" in many states.
Are individuals standing for public office required to adhere to an oath or other agreement regarding corruption? No, though this does not impact anti-corruption laws.
Is there a framework for preventing corruption in all public sectors, including health, education, police and military? Each public sector has its own anti-corruption framework. The strictest anti-corruption standards are applied to the police, while healthcare is relatively free of corruption. We, unfortunately, have done a bad job at preventing corruption in the military and education.
Is reporting of corruption able to be done anonymously and discretely? Yes. The Ministry of Justice has an anonymous reporting form available to all citizens.

Corruption Monitoring and Reporting
Is there a government body in place to monitor and report incidences of corruption? The Ministry of Justice handles all Imperial-level monitoring and reporting of corruption. State crimes have their own agencies.
If so, how much authority does this body have? Can it make arrests? The Ministry of Justice has the authority to make arrests for any violation of Imperial law, and prosecute anyone who commits corruption, but does not have the authority to prosecute state-level or local-level offences.
Are there non-government bodies who investigate and report corruption? Yes.
If so, are they given freedom to report on confirmed and possible cases of corruption? Yes.
Are journalists and members of the public free to express their concerns regarding corruption in your nation? Yes.

Corruption Punishment
What is the maximum sentence for committing financial fraud via government means? Ten years in prison and fines equal to three times the income obtained through fraud.
What is the maximum sentence for committing electoral fraud? Not specifically an Imperial-level crime, but tampering with votes is a violation of the Government Transparency Edict and punishable with a jail sentence of up to three years, plus any penalties the state may also decide to enact.
What is the maximum sentence for misleading voters in an election? Not an Imperial-level crime, but many states have laws forbidding it, with fines or short jail sentences if convicted.
What is the maximum sentence for committing a conflict of interest crime? Ten years in prison, plus damages, and removal of the conflict of interest if possible. (For example, a minister who owns a business that has a conflict of interest with their position could see all their shares in that business nationalized.)
Are those suspected of corruption-related crimes stood down from office while the investigation takes place? Only in positions related to law enforcement and the judicial system.

END
Are you satisfied with this index? Yes.
Any suggestions or comments on how to improve? Make the corruption-related arrests and unchecked acts of corruption per-capita questions instead of absolute numbers.
The American Empire is a socially progressive absolute monarchy run by the heirs of Emperor Norton. It started off at MT but has rapidly advanced to PMT through interdimensional travel. All NSstats are used, except for tax rate and population. Factbooks are currently under reconstruction.

Postby The Municipalities of Antarctica » Mon May 24, 2021 8:44 pm

Your nation's full name (including pretitle)
The Stalwart Federation of The Municipalities of Antarctica.
Your nation's (IC, non-NS) population
N/A (Hasn't been determined yet. Al least over 100-150 million though.)
Would you like to receive a TG updating you when your nation has been scored?
Yes.

Corruption Prevalence
How many corruption-related arrests are made every year?
93
How many acts of corruption are estimated to go unchecked every year?
107, though estimates can only catch a glimpse of the depth of corruption, as no investigation can be perfect. Most of these acts are specifically related to one regional administration.
Do citizens complain about corruption via social media or other channels?
Only residents of Special Municipal Zone 17 routinely complain. This region contains a total of 3 million citizens, most of which have called out against the corruption of their local government, and in support of a non-governmental organization that suppresses it. Though other cases have appeared, especially during previous administrations.
Have you (the official participating in this survey) seen corruption in the past year?
Yes. A Municipality containing one of the country's largest non-state industries has routinely bent it's own rules and regulations in attempts to appease the industry in question, alongside attempting to enrich themselves. Leading to an odd situation where the company is the one enforcing integrity guidelines instead, due to not wishing to be connected to any wrongdoing that the regional government commits. This answer relates to the one above.
Did your leader come to power via transparent, trusted and legal means?
Yes. The Direct-Vote system utilized during elections has been verified as not tampered with, despite efforts from opposing candidates to skew votes through their own means.

Corruption Prevention
Are there specific laws prohibiting individuals from participating in corrupt acts?
The state maintains a significant amount of federal and regional regulations that forbid acts of corruption, with only SMZ-17 lacking these regulations, due to their regional government successfully overturning them somewhat. There are enough rules typically implemented that an entire book can be filled with them.
Are elections for national, state and local government free, fair, open and subject to inspection?
Most. Some local governments operate on a non-free electoral basis, but are only permitted to operate as such for as long as their citizens tolerate the system. Several cases of restructuring have occurred, and transparency protocols were swiftly enacted. An example of a non-electoral government that has survived, is the City of Kazo's meritocratic administration.
Are individuals standing for public office required to adhere to an oath or other agreement regarding corruption?
While there is no public oath or agreement related to promising against corruption, any employee of the state is wordlessly expected to conduct themselves in a manner best suited to their role, for the benefits of the people and state itself. Individuals considered to be of dubious loyalties are screened and checked additionally.
Is there a framework for preventing corruption in all public sectors, including health, education, police and military?
There are significant structures in place designed to ensnare any who attempt to corrupt the system... and any who partake in that corruption. Several government institutions routinely sweep through records and employee data to ensure compliance with these structural regulations, and all sectors have their own dedicated anti-corruption staff.
Is reporting of corruption able to be done anonymously and discretely?
Yes. Citizens, visitors, tourists and others are encouraged to report cases of corruption and power abuse, with each case being taken into consideration seriously.

Corruption Monitoring and Reporting
Is there a government body in place to monitor and report incidences of corruption?
Multiple. The Central Administrative Courts are empowered to act against corrupt individuals and order investigations against those suspected of it. A.M.S.I.O, the country's military intelligence branch, has been known to detain and hold non-compliant individuals involving anti-corruption regulations. The Ministries of Internal Security and Internal Stability are both capable of investigating and rooting out corruption, and finally, every other state ministry has it's own small team dedicated to anti-corruption operations.
If so, how much authority does this body have? Can it make arrests?
All of the bodies referenced are permitted to make arrests, though the CAC are the only ones permitted to sentence and serve punishments in the cases of corruption. (Unless A.M.S.I.O has probable cause to suggest that their detained individuals are threats to national security.)
Are there non-government bodies who investigate and report corruption?
A number of civilian-founded bodies do exist, though there are no major bodies present throughout the country.
If so, are they given freedom to report on confirmed and possible cases of corruption?
They are given the right to report and draw attention to cases of corruption, though are forbidden from directly attempting to do the jobs of the government bodies responsible for handling it.
Are journalists and members of the public free to express their concerns regarding corruption in your nation?
Yes. There are no regulations against free expression.

Corruption Punishment
What is the maximum sentence for committing financial fraud via government means?
Any interference in the financial system to a significant degree results in permanent imprisonment for violation of the state economics system, which carries an additional charge of sabotage due to it's electronic nature. All economic apparatus are electronic in nature.
What is the maximum sentence for committing electoral fraud?
While there is no official maximum sentence for committing electoral fraud, most cases of this usually result in being completely blacklisted from elections permanently... and typically 30-40 years, depending on the whims of the courts and the people's feelings.
What is the maximum sentence for misleading voters in an election?
Depending on the level of misleading that is conducted, the sentencing may be between 20 to 30 years, as well as being completely blacklisted from elections permanently.
What is the maximum sentence for committing a conflict of interest crime?
40 to 50 years, dependant on the nature of the CIC. Treason charges may be aimed against those whose conflict of interest relate to a foreign entity. Treason charges will upgrade to life imprisonment
Are those suspected of corruption-related crimes stood down from office while the investigation takes place?
Only if state bodies believe there is probable cause for such a disruption to their duties. Otherwise, they are allowed to continue duties. Some investigations may intentionally keep them in office to catch them in the act.

Additional Note: All sentencing estimates do not take into account rehabilitation programs, which will significantly decrease the time the charged individuals spend in cells, if proven successful.
END
Are you satisfied with this index?
Yes.

Any suggestions or comments on how to improve?
Unfortunately not.

OOC- Any other states presenting themselves as representing all or part of the nation of Tropico from the series of City Builders are not operated by me nor are they canon to Estado de Tropico's lore. The existence of such states as have been founded on or after the 18th of October 2021, seemingly in response to my activity, have done so without my consent, but are permitted to do so by virtue of Tropico as a general country not being the unique and original intellectual property of any NS player. Nonetheless, their existence, being conflicting with my own, should be interpreted as taking place in a separate universe, as Nation States is multiversal, and no claims of accomplishing or attempting secession or other seizure of power from or by Estado de Tropico are true.
