During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? Ankuran believed the entire ordeal was dangerously foolish, but in the interest of self-preservation and loyalty to certain other countries, Ankuran sided with the West.

If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? Yes.

Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? Of course. Ankuran's proximity to the east coast of the United States made its decision an important one, and even if its military was lacking compared to world superpowers, the Ankuran government has always held a keen interest in the research and development of advanced technology (even in literature, weird science and science fiction were always popular). Further aggravating issues are the obvious effects that socialism have had on the nation's government and culture; protests were staged against Ankuran's government with every decision made, as a considerable number of citizens believed that Ankuran was obligated to side with those of socialist and communist mindsets, and during this time there was even a surge in Nazi sympathizers and national socialist activities. Combining these factors with the shadow wars engaged on Ankuran soil by both Eastern and Western covert agents and attacks on the weakened nation by its northern neighbor made Cold War-era Ankuran a chaotic place with a volatile political climate (though nothing like Berlin in those days). Ankuran also engaged in shadow wars, proxy wars, and intelligence and propaganda campaigns, though instead of targeting the Eastern Bloc directly, Ankuran's aim was to protect the Non-Aligned Movement from Eastern influence and sway their opinion in favor of the Western Bloc.

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? Terra Novam openly supported the West, though not without strong criticisms towards its social policies.
If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: N/A
If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? No, because we would not, and still will not allow any foreign and/or multinational body decide anything for us. The Federal Armed Services did pledge to support NATO in case of conflict, and Novan troops have served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars from start to finish.
If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact? N/A
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? N/A
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? There were Socialist and Communist movements in Terra Novam that attempted to persuade the State to join sides with the Soviet Union, but the IFS being a non-totalitarian socialist nation their demands went mostly unheard.

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on?
Northland was and still is neutral.

If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: -

If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO?
No.

If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact?
-

If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East?
Northland being a democratic capitalist welfare state, the country was therefore more west leaning.

Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side?
Smaller groups who wanted more west and more east leaning foreign and internal politics, none was ever large enough to gain any real power though.
NS stats are not to be taken seriously...

If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: Cuban Syria was never part of the military side of the Cold War, but we supported the Soviet Union
If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? N/A
If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact? Economically yes, militarily no
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? East
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? Cuban Syria, during the Cold War, was openly neutral but still leaned over to the east. Thanks to Cuban Syria's location 6,106km away from the United States, the US sent telegrams and such more often than people think. There were also frequent protests wanting Cuban Syria to side with the West and even JOINING in with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? The Capitalists
If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: We didn't really change sides, but we were "working with the enemy" (That "Enemy" was the West). Basically, we went into battle with the Soviets, but we switched sides early in the battle.
Once we started the battle, we would fire at the Westerners, but intentionally miss. We would say that we couldn't get a good shot from where we were, and that we needed to move closer. We would "sneak" over to where the Westerners were, and then join them in battle.

If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? Yes, but not until 1975, two years after our freedom from the U.S.S.R.
If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact? N/A
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? N/A
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? We initially thought that the Soviets would pass off our "betrayal" plan as us having bad aim, but we eventually realized that they would discover our strategies sooner or later. And they did, so they tried to attack us, to scare us into helping them. But when they attacked us in 1973, we had been preparing for the attack for five years, and within a month, we had pushed them back, and taken over most of Siberia.

We would've been able to defeat them in January of 1918, had we known they were going to attack. It was the element of surprise that defeated us that year.

We won this battle because we prepared. There was no surprise here.

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? None, the People's Republic of Zhouran has been following the policy of non-aligned neutrality (not siding with any alliances, ideologies, etc. except for Zhouranese national interests) ever since its formation in 1956

If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: N/A

If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? Zhouran is not a member of NATO, during the 1990s following the collapse of the USSR, NATO did try and attempt to have Zhouran as a non-NATO ally since by that decade Zhouran had the world's largest defense budget and a world-class battle-experienced technologically-advanced military, however the Zhouranese had no interest in joining NATO as that goes against both national interests and non-aligned neutrality, not to mention that the US strongly opposed the idea of Zhouran as a non-NATO ally since that would mean competition from a powerful non-western Asian rival

If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact? Zhouran was never a member of the Warsaw Pact

If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? None, during the Cold War the PRZ enjoyed great relations with both the former USSR and the US, thus the country didn't worry too much about taking sides, also unlike countries such as Sweden, Switzerland or former Yugoslavia, who tend to be pacifist neutral, Zhouran's non-aligned neutrality doesn't mean non-interventionist but rather interventionist-for-Zhouranese-interests-only

Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? No, if anything it's always been the opposite, unlike with the former USSR or the US, Zhouran has always presented itself as the non-ideological Third Alternative superpower and still does ever since the end of the Cold War, however both China and Zhouran are currently in a stiff competition over Africa with Zhouran having a large permanent military presence in the continent while China invests heavily in infrastructure building

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on?
Neutral.

If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with:
The Federation was founded in 1981, the doctrine being 'neutrality' from Day One. Previous predecessor states were all-in-all neutral, too, yet leaning towards West or East depending on their political ideologies, the most notable ones being the Rathenian People's Republic and the Free State of Terra Bianca, both of which were rather East-leaning (despite the former rather being socialist in name only), the Lillorainian Federal Republic, the Marranian Free State, and the Republic of Vedjading, the three of which more leaned towards the West.

If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO?
N/A.

If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact?
N/A.

If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East?
Non-Aligned Movement, without notable tendencies, at least not after 1981.

Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side?
There were militant groups during the 1970s Civil War indeed, but in general, most people in and out of power agreed, that neutrality should be the way to go.
