Ponderosa might have made the map, but I'm not sure. Though, I did make my own map with help of Wikipedia map templates. So that could help.

Thanks alot

Make sure you have the file uploaded to the internet. Also, ensure that you have the FULL link, including the HTTP(s):// or else it will not work. And, for the sake of the wiki, try to make it small enough to fit in the template without stretching it.

Try using this image of your flag. Maybe that could work.

I see a lot of wiki factbooks with pictures of their flag and map filling out the entire screen so i'll suggest this website that can resize your images. It's made for gif but can also be used for png
https://ezgif.com/resize
Just set it to 300 in width and it will resize your image. You can also crop, rotate, add effects or text etc.
It automatically deletes your image after 5 or so minutes so you need to upload it on another image site like imgur before you can use it

Hi could someone tell me why the images in my factbooks are not showing up ?
I have used the guide provided and only got a grey box is there a easier way to display pictures ?

Do I need to use something other than imgur or is it because of the fact that my images are the wrong file type ?

Anyway figured this would be a good place to ask.

Thanks.

Well, looking at your dispatch... are your images removed? If not, can you see them on Imgur? I tried accessing them and it seems they've been deleted.

Anyway, I've noticed you've been using "https://imgur.com/5K138YK" as the image URL; however you need to use, for example, "https://i.imgur.com/5K138YK.jpg"

The correct URL should have ".jpg" or ".png" or such file extension at the end.

This is correct. I made the orthographic map in Microsoft Paint, editing the Wikipedia map for Mexico. If you look closely, it looks kind of shitty.

Not exactly that related to talking about the content of the factbooks themselves, but I would like to post here to remind everyone (including myself at times) that you should always, ALWAYS keep backups of your dispatches or factbooks on a Word file, or any other word processing program.

Nothing is more painful than accidentally deleting or losing a big chunk of your dispatch, only to realise that there's no way to undo the deletion. Especially your Wiki-style factbooks, because creating content for them is a long process.

On that note, here's mine so far. Any feedback on it would be appreciated. :D Still working on it.

Try smaller pics and hit "enter" behind a few words in case the lengthness of the sentence makes the box too wide, see if that helps.

Your [floatleft] tag is nested incorrectly. Both parts of it should be on the outside of the [box] tags, and right now the first one is inside and the second one is outside

It should be like

Code: Select all
[floatleft][box][/box][/floatleft]
