Not that hard to field-strip, either. They seem to be pretty solidly-built from what I've experienced with them.

Wiki. has muzzle velocities within 100fps within one another between .38 Super and 10mm Auto. I also doubt ~1mm difference in bullet diameter is going to make that big of a difference considering 9mm HPs can perform just as well as .45ACP HPs anymore.

Are you looking at FBI loads, or proper loads? What about energy transfer? Well, considering the difference between an 7.92 and a 7.62 is considerable...

As someone who's handled a friend's civvie version at the range many times, not at all. It seems like a fine enough pistol. Granted, personal preference makes me pick an M1911, but the 92FS seems fine enough if it fills the role.

As someone who's handled a friend's civvie version at the range many times, not at all. It seems like a fine enough pistol. Granted, personal preference makes me pick an M1911, but the 92FS seems fine enough if it fills the role.

That open slide is practically an invitation to get foreign material into the action. Ever stress-tested one with sand?

Too bulky for my taste (again, 1911 purist), too heavy for a 9mm, I've seen better accuracy with a Hi-Point, not the absolute easiest to field strip, and I can't say too many good things about it's durability. Mine's been deployed twice and it's already looking like shit, jams after a couple hundred rounds, and is a pain in the ass the clean after a long day at the range. So all in all, not a bad gun, but I could pick 100 better 9mm's to start with (IMO).

I can strip and reassemble a 1911 blindfolded, but that doesn't mean it's still easier than the P.38/P1/92-series.

If I absolutely had to have a 9mm, it would probably be a Para-Ordinance M1911, or a SIG. I like the look of Ruger Pxx series pistols, but in my experience they stovepipe and jam regularly if not oiled religiously.

It's mildly cool-looking, but there are far sexier pistols IMO. Like a 10mm Auto, full-dust-jacket, slab-sided, underbarrel railed M1911 with Pachmyr American Legend grips, a parkerized frame and a nickle-plated slide.

I concur with the Sig, by far the best 9mm frame and design IMO. I'd have to muscle up the bravery to get near a 9mm 1911, so I'll let you know when that day comes what I think of it
