1 - What is the legal drinking age? - 14 with parental/legal guardian supervision, 16 in a private location under adult supervision, 18 otherwise

2 - Driving age? 16, but many debates are questioning if it needs to be moved up to 17 or 18.

3 - Age of sexual consent? 18

4 - Voting age? 18, which is also when one can join the military. Voting is mandatory and Election Day is a holiday. Only those with mental deficiencies, felons, and those with valid reasons may not vote. Anybody not voting without valid reason may be penalized by a $500 fine and up to a year in prison (but prison time is very, very rare for not voting).

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? 18

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? Khat, alcohol, and tobacco are all legal, but there are restrictions. Khat has very few restrictions, but not many people use it. Alcohol can be used, but a conviction on a DWI is grounds for never driving again. Tobacco is legal, but smoking in a public area is not permitted. LSD, Cocaine, Meth, Weed, etc... That's hard time and dealing them will execute a mandatory fifteen year sentence.

7 - Can people have guns? Yes, and most people do carry guns in their homes. Some people have concealed weapons, and that's fine with a license. One may not brandish a weapon freely though unless they are a peace officer or military personnel.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called? Formal: The Grand Commonwealth of Oswaldia// Informal: The Commonwealth of Oswaldia, The Commonwealth, Oswaldia / Citizens: Oswalds

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes, but to be executed you have to be sentenced by a jury of your pears, then must be unanimously condemned by the High Court of Oswaldia, then be warranted by the Chief Executive. Pretty much, you have to be less than dirt, and that's why there are on average 1.3 executions per year based on info for the past 100 years.

10 - What is the speed limit? Nationwide on the Oswald Highway System it is 80 MPH in rural areas, 70 MPH in city areas. Local roads fall under local jurisdiction.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? All religions are permitted, but may be subject to review by the High Court of Oswaldia (so far, none have come up for review). The Oswald Church system is the most popular with 81% being part of the church. All church goers are free from the sin tax. All atheists and non-church goers are taxed an additional 5% off their income.

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn - Legal, but frowned upon.

13-Prostitution - Illegal.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - Illegal.

15-Homosexuality - One may be homosexual, but same-sex marriage is not legal.

16-Stem cell research - From ones own cells? Go for it.

17-Human Cloning - Witchcraft. Not really, but no, illegal.

18-Cock Fighting? Legal, but frowned upon. Not advertised and restricted to back alley ways if done.

19-Slavery? - Unless you're talking about the chain gang in prison. Otherwise, illegal

20-Hunting? - If you don't hunt, something is wrong with you.

21-Fishing - Considering that naval life is a right of passage for an Oswald, yeah, legal.

22-Eating meat? - Everybody eats meat. If you don't, then you're not really Oswald.

23-Littering? - Why would you ruin this great land? Illegal, but mostly fines and community service.

24-Unisex bathrooms? - Gross...

25-Suicide? - Legal - Euthanasia / Right to Death with Diginity - Illegal. If you really want to do it, do it yourself. Everybody has a right to die by their own hand; if you do it by your own sword (not metaphorical, a real sword), then you are honored. If you do it by drugs or "suicide by cop" or what-have-you, you are a coward and deserve to be forgotten.

26 - Gay marriage? - Illegal. You may go somewhere that has legal marriage and be happy there, but getting back into Oswaldia is difficult after that and that marriage is not recognized in Oswaldia.

27-Abortion - Legal only when the child would be born with great disability or the health of the mother is in sever jeopardy.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal? - Anything that kills one of the participants. Otherwise, legal.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Wear what you want, but if you are not wearing sear-sucker in the summer, or not wearing a nice hat, or without a suit and tie at work, then you will be out of place and rightly mocked by your peers.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? This is up to local jurisdictions.

31-What system do you have for taxes? There is no income tax unless you fall under the sin tax as stated above. There is a national sales tax of 16%, and local taxes can go up to 8.5% on goods and services. Corporations must pay a flat 15% tax unless they are non-profit (and 92% of entities are for profit).

31aSales tax? See above.

31bImport/Export tax? Varies, but most goods coming in and out are taxed around 2.8%

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? By the following ways: 1) Born with two Oswald parents, 2) Serve four years in the military (no dishonorable discharge), 3) Graduate with distinction from one of the eight Oswald Universities, 4) by Order of the Chief Executive of the Grand Commonwealth of Oswaldia.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? It is tough to become an Oswald by choice, but if you serve in the military you become a Citizen by Service. If you graduate in the top of the class of an Oswald University, you become a Citizen by Excellence. If you are born into citizenship, you are a Citizen by Right. If you are granted citizenship by the Chief Executive, you are a Citizen by Order. If you can't get in that way, Oswaldia really doesn't want you.

34-What type of government are you? Semi-Presidential System with considerable powers held by the leader of the legislature.

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? Not by much in times of peace. In times of war, things can get a bit tricky but the media is always independent.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Must live in the Khodoristan for a decade, possess a Permanent Resident Billet (PRB), pass citizenship test, display fluency in both English and Russian, and must be either enrolled in school, have a job, have a restitution of disability, or in the process of acquiring one of the three.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? People declared to be barred from entry run from religious fundamentals, radical nationalists, people convicted of multiple felonies, and diplomats declared persona non grata.

34-What type of government are you? Federal presidential republic/liberal democracy with a mixed-market capitalist economy.

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? The government typically censors media only in times of extreme national crises; natural disasters, large scale domestic insurrection, times of war, etc.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? There are many, but too numerous to name.

1. There's no legal drinking age. Parents stop stopping their kids from drinking when they see fit. Usually 13 is the age people drink for the first time.
2. There's no driving age either. There aren't even petroleum-powered vehicles, like cars or motorcycles.
3. There's no age of consent. Parents protect their kids from pedos and kids have fun with themselves however they like.
4. There are no elections. Skinia is not a democracy. It's all anarchy, baby.
5. It's how the kids' parents see fit.
6. All recreational drugs are legal.
7. People can have guns too!
8. The full name of our community is Skinia. Nothing else. No 'republic ofs' or 'kingdom ofs', no nothing.
9. We don't have the death penalty. Sometimes people go overboard when they're beating the living shit out of murderers and rapists, though.
10. There are no speed limits.
11. All religions are allowed.
12. Porn is legal.
13. Prostitution is legal.
14. Polygamy is legal.
15. Homosexuality is legal.
16. Stem cell research is legal.
17. Human cloning is legal.
18. Cockfighting is animal abuse and thus illegal.
19. Slavery AKA human ownership is illegal.
20. Hunting is legal.
21. Fishing is legal.
22. Eating meat is legal.
23. Littering is illegal.
24. Unisex toilets are the norm.
25. Suicide is legal.
26. Gay marriage is legal.
27. Abortion is legal.
28. Rape is outlawed and so is pedophilia. Fuck them.
29. If one doesn't want to be a skinhead, they don't have to.
30. We don't have obscenity laws.
31. There's no taxation.
32. Come here, speak English, follow our laws. Being an actual skinhead is optional. BAM, you're a citizen.
33. We allow all who follow our laws. Sometimes we like to be dickheads towards nazi and white power skinheads and not let them in.
34. Skinia is a communist anarchy.
35. There's no government and we hate censorship.
36. People think Skinia is a skinhead-only community. It isn't. It's become the norm to be a skinhead since Skinia was founded as a skinhead community.

The Egalitarian Archipelago of Kanoria

Age values given are typical, and vary by up to three years, according to depth of reasoning capability, as independently assessed twice a year using the most widely recognized psychological and sociological means. Certain individuals are not granted full choice making capacity on grounds of being unable to support themselves, though this is rare.

1 - What is the legal drinking age?: Drinking legal at all ages, purchasing at 16, excessive consumption (drunkenness) at 17

2 - Driving age? Driving in conventional sense is rare, operating a vehicle varies by vehicle type.

3 - Age of sexual consent? 16, with exemptions, before this age, consent can be granted by an individual where little or no age and maturity difference exist.

4 - Voting age? 15 for national and Truast Leysa elections, with voting on some matters and in some elections granted prior to this, and regional voting at 16.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? - Typically 17, with some responsibilities granted beforehand.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? - Anything with a societal harm/ addiction quota considered to be 70/100 or below, but taxed accordingly, with addiction therapies offered, and heavy regulation

7 - Can people have guns? Lethal objects without function as a tool are rare, guns are heavily restricted requiring very intensive training, and licensing even in the police and armed forces, however there are a variety of approved stun weapons that are available with an easily available licences, as well as tools that could be lethal that are freely available.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? The Egalitarian Archipelago of Kanoria

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Under no circumstances

10 - What is the speed limit? No formal theoretical limit, tough laws on generally unsafe driving

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? All religions are legal, though some are considered abhorrent. Attempting to preach on religious grounds (not moral or ethical) to a child is illegal. It is considered bad practice to preach to anyone who has not requested it, and the non-consenting individual having requested that it stop more than once, continuing to can be considered harassment, but good practice to attempt to enter into a debate on moral, ethical or religious grounds.

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn - Legal, usage encouraged in a limited manor, any legal sexual act may be depicted if actors over the age of 18.

13-Prostitution - Legal with tough regulation

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - Legal with written consent and knowledge of all persons involved

15-Homosexuality - Same status as any other relationship

16-Stem cell research - Legal, subject to double ethics committee approval.

17-Human Cloning - Legal, may not reach stage of development where recognized human thought patterns develop.

18-Cock Fighting? Illegal under generalized cruelty to animals legislation

19-Slavery? - Illegal under all circumstances

20-Hunting? Legal for any invasive pest species, subject to cruelty legislation, legal subject to quota for some native species under little or no ecological threat, subject to cruelty legislation. 80% plus of any hunted animal must be used, and the remainder disposed of in a manor that is environmentally beneficial.

21-Fishing - Covered under hunting legislation.

22-Eating meat? Legal, typically done in 3-6 meals a week

23-Littering? Highly illegal, classified as purposeful environmental damage.

24-Unisex bathrooms ? The norm, though with privacy

25-Suicide? - Legal, including assisted with regulation

26 - Gay marriage? - Same regulations as any other union

27-Abortion - Legal until recognized human brain activity occurs (some time in the THIRD trimester).

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Any non-consensual.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Any form of clothing is permissible anywhere where there is no urgent need for other practice to be the case

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene"? It is considered an obscenity to attempt to enforce your will on another (as an additional offence to any others committed) where the person is engaged in a legal action that does not harm another, or to discriminate against them on matters outside of their control on any non-personal matter. Nothing else is considered obscene legally.

31-What system do you have for taxes?
Multiple systems. Income tax is applied on a curve centrally, and a system of universal grants is in place. This means that all persons have the amount required to live on, and that an increase of pay means an increase of amount available to spend, however the higher the level of pay becomes, the less of an increase is gained. There are also profit and gains taxes, as well as a gradual wealth tax, and a very significant inheritance tax.

31a
Sales tax? Based on level of harm to society consumption of that product entails, legally must be included in posted price.

31b
Import/Export tax? Based on environmental damage of that import/ export. Note: Imports only permitted from sources that meet our own labour, environmental and safety standards or are supplying a resource for which we have an urgent need.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Must sign and consent the three universally required agreements: 'Environmental and Circumstantial Betterment', 'Rightful Acceptance and Tolerance' and 'Citizenry'. As well as completing the short integration course, you are admissible to do this if you have been in the country for one year out of the past three.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Any who have not committed a crime under our laws in any jurisdiction and have yet to render the offense spent. In addition we prohibit any known to be an immediate security threat, and any who refuse to sign and consent to 'Environmental and Circumstantial Betterment' and 'Rightful Acceptance and Tolerance'.

34-What type of government are you? Fractal Serratic Democracy

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? Only when an active lie has been perpetuated (third offense or more on any given lie), or when there is clear evidence of deliberate misrepresentation (5th offense on any given misrepresentation), or when incitement to hatred against a non-voluntary group is committed (2nd offense). For-Profit media is more heavily regulated. Free speech is considered sacrosanct and so the tests applied are very rigid and overseen by multiple regulatory bodies.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? Various, including others that are enforced.

The Grand Duchy of Evethia

1 - What is the legal drinking age? Provincially legislated, generally 20-21.

2 - Driving age? Learner's permit at 15, restricted license at 18, full license at age of majority.

3 - Age of sexual consent? Varies by provinces, mostly legal at 18.

4 - Voting age? 18.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? Age of majority is considered 18 years of age.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal?

-Pot - legal, moderately popular. Operating under the influence of marijuana is a criminal offense, much like driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Tobacco - Popular in some provinces, legal nationwide. Nationally grown tobacco is popular during national holidays as a sign of celebration, though watchdog groups warn against it due to health risks.
- Cocaine - legal, but highly regulated. Requires a license to sell, and only in regulated doses. Operating under the influence is considered a felony offense.
-Alcohol - legal, moderately popular- but operating under the influence is, like many drugs, a criminal offense.
- LSD - illegal.
- Caffeine - legal, popular nationwide.
- Heroin - illegal.
- Other? All other substances are considered either illegal, or highly regulated. Some drug laws vary by province, but are usually uniform throughout.

7 - Can people have guns? Provincially legislated, but concealed weaponry is allowed under a yearly renewed permit. Gun purchasing laws are tough and strict to prevent the weapons from entering the wrong hands, but guns themselves are not illegal in any province.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? Formal: The Grand Duchy of Evethia // Informal: Evethia

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes

10 - What is the speed limit? Varies depending on the street, but the rule of thumb is 20 mph in business, 25 in residential. Normal speed limit for highways is 65 mph.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - Not illegal by any law, but highly discouraged by cultural opinion.

15-Homosexuality - Full rights as straight citizens. Some cultural bias against them in the more rural communities, but this is NOT an agreed upon norm for Evethians as a whole. Homophobia is considered a disgusting act by most.

16-Stem cell research - Some cursory research into the topic, but Evethia isn't the most scientifically advanced or motivated nation.

17-Human Cloning - Unheard of.

18-Cock Fighting? Illegal under animal protection and cruelty prevention laws.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - Public indecency is illegal, as is sexual conduct in public areas.

31b Import/Export tax? Varies on the product and where it is going to or coming from.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? All those seeking citizenship must pass a citizenship exam, which concerns topics of Evethian history, government, current laws, and culture.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country?
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me.

34-What type of government are you? Democratically elected republic.

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? Censorship law is a contentious issue, but is regarded as an issue of provincial right, more so than one of federal law.

1 - What is the legal drinking age? 18

2 - Driving age? 14

3 - Age of sexual consent? A tiered system. From ages 13 to 14 a "two year rule" is in effect (ie consent is only considered possible with individuals up to two years older than the person in question); from ages 15 to 17 a "four year rule" and from 18 to 20 a "five year rule". From age 21 onward there are no restrictions.

4 - Voting age? 15 in most elections. (Democracy exists only on the local/municipal level in Dvardis)

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? 21. However, parental control is never absolute. Children have the same rights as everyone else in society, more or less, and have legal means to revoke parental authority at any point before turning 21.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal?

- Pot - Legal & common

- Tobacco - Legal, but taxed. Somewhat common

- Cocaine - Legal, but taxed and regulated

- Alcohol - Legal & common

- LSD - Legal & rare

- Caffeine - Legal & common

- Heroin - Legal, but taxed and regulated

- Other? Although most other drugs are legal, many are heavily regulated, methamphetamine probably most of all.

7 - Can people have guns? Yes, and many do.

8 - What is the official full name of your country?
La'kazhitara Dvardi'a (The Citadel [or "Guardian Queendom"] of Dvardis)
What is the informal name?
Dvardis
What are people of your nation called
Dvardi'i (individual and adjectival), Dvardi'a (plural)

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes. Crimes such as murder, rape, paedophilia, human trafficking, and treason may be punished with execution if the evidence is sufficiently strong and the crime is of a high degree.

10 - What is the speed limit? There are no speed limits outside city municipal boundaries, where it depends on the kind of road (generally 100 km/h on highways and 50 km/h on all other roads)

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? All religions are permitted, though certain religious practices (e.g. human sacrifice) are legally restricted. The only religion that is granted government financial support is the official one, the Holy Temple of the Inner and Outer Gods, via its headquarters in the Diocese of Datsikhra.

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn - Only on the following grounds: all parties must have consented freely, not under the influence of any drug, and without financial coercion (i.e. no one was paid to participate); all parties must consent to the release of the material; the material cannot be degrading or objectifying towards women; the material may not contain verbal or physical aggression; the material may not simulate rape, child abuse or any other crime. All pornography must pass a censorship board. In practice, this makes porn illegal within Dvardis, although there are perhaps a very small number of images and videos that manage to pass this test. (Written erotica is much less restricted, mind.)

13-Prostitution - An important legal axiom of Dvardi'i common law is that consent cannot be purchased. All prostitution is viewed as rape of the prostituted person on those grounds. Anyone who attempts to or successfully buys sex from another person will be prosecuted for rape in the third degree (i.e. rape in which the rapist received verbal consent despite circumstances rendering that consent invalid)—sometimes higher—and anyone who attempts to sell the sexual services of another person is prosecuted for the more serious crime of rape in the second degree (i.e. causing rape to occur, without necessarily committing it oneself).

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - Legal. However, prenuptial agreements are mandatory.

15-Homosexuality - Legal.

16-Stem cell research - Legal and pursued by many educational and medical institutions. Much has been done with stem cells including the creation of artificial organs, rejuvenation of ageing bodies, repairing damage caused by degenerative disorders and even cures for certain cancers.

17-Human Cloning - Theoretically legal, but has not been successfully done yet, and ethical considerations prevent many scientific organisations from pursuing it.

18-Cock Fighting? Theoretically legal but might fall under animal abuse laws. There is no common law precedent as of yet, since there have been no reports of cock fighting occurring on Dvardi'i soil.

19-Slavery? - Illegal. Slavers (human traffickers) are harshly punished, often with long prison sentences and occasionally the death penalty depending on the scale of their activities.

20-Hunting? Legal & common.

21-Fishing - Legal & common.

22-Eating meat? Legal & almost universal, although there exists a reasonably large vegetarian/vegan market.

23-Littering? Illegal. A misdemeanor, and usually punished via community service focused on cleaning the streets. >_>

24-Unisex bathrooms ? Exist in some places. Laws mandate that every facility used by more than five men (males) per day must maintain sex-segregated bathrooms. Unisex bathrooms are common within facilities that are female-only and often are installed as third bathrooms in some larger institutions in addition to the standard two.

25-Suicide? - Legal & uncommon.

26 - Gay marriage? Legal & common.

27-Abortion - Available on demand through the entire length of pregnancy, with no restrictions.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Rape, paedophilia, incest, animal abuse, BDSM

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Optional, but due to the cold climate it is rare to encounter a nude person

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene". - Yes: material that promotes the degradation and sexual objectification of women, children (since 1527) or men (since 1958), and encourages or condones sexual violence. See "Porn" above.

31-What system do you have for taxes? Income taxes use a progressive system. Annually the Ministry of Finance sets a poverty line, below which citizens do not pay income tax, and a wealth line, above which the tax rate increases by .5% with every additional 20,000 marks of income, capped at 80%. The flat tax rate for citizens between the two "lines" is 25%. Taxes are automatically deducted from one's pay and citizens do not need to file tax returns unless they live overseas.

31aSales tax? VAT is levied at a rate of 15%.

31bImport/Export tax? Only imports and exports worth 10,000 marks or more are taxed, at rates that increase with the value of the import/export.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? First one must get to Dvardis—acquiring a visa is difficult and usually only granted to skilled workers, university graduates, someone sponsored by an employer, or anyone else who will add "value" to the nation. After living in the country for a year, one may apply for permanent residency, which is based on one's initial qualifications plus what one has accomplished whilst living in Dvardis plus qualification in a civics course plus fluency in the language. After five years of residency, one can then apply for citizenship. This requires a more arduous examination and also delves into one's entire life history.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? The only people expressly not allowed are those with criminal records or known/suspected to be affiliated with a terrorist group. That said, the Ministry of Security will often find reasons to prevent people from entering the country, as above. Dvardi'a don't trust foreigners much.

34-What type of government are you? Quasi-absolute monarchy (power is checked through the judiciary: although judges are appointed directly by the kajirit, they serve for life and she has no influence over their decisions)

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? To a limited extent. Under Dvardi'i law material that criticises or threatens the kajirit or her family may be censored, as may material that falls under obscenity laws or material that criticises religious institutions. In other respects censorship has generally been viewed as unreasonable.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? For example –
Though Dvardis has full gender equality under the law, the society is often thought of as matriarchal, including by Dvardi'i themselves. Social norms still favour women. Men continue to occupy relatively disprivileged positions in society, it's just that now most people believe that's simply because they choose to.

The kajirit has been historically viewed as semi-divine. Some were never seen by the public or, indeed, anyone other than a few trusted officials. That said, the last few Dalbhrani kajiria have specifically cultivated an image of themselves as more down-to-earth and approachable—that is to say, they make official statements once every few months and sometimes even speak to journalists—and ka'abhdhan Luna Celestis seems to be following in her foremothers' footsteps.

Although Dvardis is mostly "modern tech" it is very common for people to believe in the existence of supernatural, magical, or otherwise anomalous objects and creatures, and hardly remarkable. These beliefs are completely accurate, but it is rare to find evidence corroborating them; rumour has it that a secret government department captures anything supernatural that can be found and hides it away in a warehouse somewhere. That rumour is also completely accurate.

Please do not call adherents of the Temple "Cthulhu worshipers" or "cultists". That's just embarrassing. The Temple worships Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, Shub-Niggurath, etc. Obviously. Cthulhu is a mere Great Old One and exists in relation to the Outer Gods the way a bacterium exists in relation to a human.

The usual prejudice against foreigners is greatly lessened if Dvardi'i find out you work in high-tech industry of any kind, for some reason obvious reasons of money. Note that other industries don't work quite as well, and also that any computer technology you try to develop in Dvardis may wind up with government-installed keyloggers and other information collecting devices attached.

There are probably more.

9. Do you have the death penalty?
No.
10. What is the speed limit?
On motorways, 70mph. Otherwise, no road exceeds 60mph.

34. What type of government are you?
Unitary directorial republic
35. To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media?
Not at all.
36. Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have?
- By tradition, the government does not hold a major role in Callipolean society; as such, most laws tend to be unwritten and understood and enforced by social contract. When a law is formally written, the proscriptions tend to be of high importance and not effectively enforced by the community.
- There is a general fear amongst Callipoleans of life outside the cities; the country has only existed outside the capital since the 1500s, and the people have been brought up on fairytales about the dangers beyond the walls. The few people who live in agricultural communities outside the cities are held in high esteem.
- Callipolus is a directorial republic, which means the position of Head of State is held dually by two Consuls. Each one holds the power of veto over the other, and they alternate their function as ultimate executive authority monthly to avoid necessary conflict. The Consuls are not directly elected but appointed by the Senate from one of their own; the senate itself controls the treasury and so holds de facto power over the government.
- The National Assembly is the primary democratic organ of the state, and is organised into 35 committees to which every citizen belongs based on political affiliation, geographic location, economic status, among other concerns. No law can be passed without approval of the Assembly.
- The motto of the country, Beauty and Thought, doubles as a manifesto for most Consuls. The government is expected to take an active role in the education of the people and the protection of the environment.
The Republic of Callipolus - Beauty and Thought
A republic based on Platonic principles of philosopher-kings. Selectively uses NS stats.
Callipolus does not necessarily reflect my views.

The further down the social class you go, the more women are servants. In nobility, wives and daughters of prestigious families are usually eye-candy, though they are often used politically as well. All the way down to those living in rural areas and women are nothing more than unofficial slaves. Exception is the military, where as long as you can shoot straight, only rank matters, and the imperial family, which are considered beyond human.
