For us there is multiple providers. Anyone can make a firewall and many operators and anti-virus programs suppply them. The government does not control the internet, though it does subserdise basic connection for poorer households. Porn is lawfully allowed and very prevalent on the internet, however some households, private schools and workplaces have parental locks and theres support for programs to block sites considered mature. However, this isn't too popular in Schwabenreich due to its population being less conservative in comparison to some. A lax policy on violence, mature language, sexual content on TV has led many to not only be de-sensitized but to not at all be offended by such content finding its way to children. Schwabenreich, like your nation has its own version of Netflix, however this is not in protest of Netflix, only a matter of a program gaining a monopoly on the internet rental service before the population ever heard of Netflix. People can have any computer they can afford as far as the government is concerned.

WHY!

-Internet is almost completely out of government jurisdiction
-There are some laws and government supervisions mostly over the topic of child pornography illegal dealings and other things in that category
-Many different privatized email and internet provider companies
-Movies and music can be downloaded freely online from government sites, its going to happen any way we might as well control it, but there are some catches to it, you still have to pay for it but the price is reduced drastically, musicians can decide that their music cannot be downloaded online but they lose a great opportunity to cater to a larger clientele
-We have mac, pc, and linux, we also have many other electronics companies but the two largest computer producers are
1. EP (A Rustik computer software, hard ware and electronics maker)
2. PC
3. Mac
-No censorship over the internet (unless its illegal of course), this includes things over television, were ranked pretty highly in our region for most swearing on media outlets

Thanks to this, we don't have to deal with pesky civil rights issues like banning websites or fighting illegal porn. Nah, we just make the technology so that they can't view it even if they wanted to!

See, the Internet in TurtleShroom has its original utilitarian purpose in mind. We don't use the Internet for leisure, we use it for why it was used in the 1970s and 1980s: for sharing and communication, file distribution, and networking computers to each other to store and obtain information.

SHADY is solely for file and information sharing. It is an ad-hoc item, pretty much like a gigantic Lime Wire. Also, it's much faster to load! On what was 56kbs dialup Internet cables, SHADY goes well over 50mbs on the exact same infrastructure.


Besides, we never had a need for the Internet. Only 22% of the population had Internet access, while 69% had a computer! The Internet was a waste of money to maintain. The infrastructure was simply copper wire strung on existing telephone cables, creating a frequently crashing and painfully slow 56kbs dial-up system. Who needs it?
