That's what it's like in Phoenix as well, I've had 5 snakes in my house in the last four months.

San Jose is quite confusing. To say the least. Basically, the bulk of suburbia is in the west and center, the north being a massive commercial zone, and the east and south being hilly and full of houses. I'm in the south, so I get deer, turkey, hawks, vultures, rats and mice, snakes, multitudes of birds(<3 quail), lots of bugs, and coyotes. The temperature ranges from 40 in the winter to 90 in the summer. Rains a ton in February.
