It strips the moisture away and can make the hair more prone to breakage.

Yes. A good trick is to plan your magistrates ahead, rush your first idea, then go straight to building constables as fast as possible. If you plan on building a lot of ships, press gangs will give you an early game edge. Mid-game money isn't such a worry, but pumping out carracks at half cost lets you kick all kinds of ass, especially as someone like England or Sweden, where you can deny access to your most troublesome enemies using your navy.
