What's really funny though is that I have not attempted to tie this in with the whole of the Republican party, nor have I attempted to steer conversation to that, I simply found a rather funny comment by a man running for political office and I knew would tickle the funny bones of NSG given it addresses, as GnI put it, the holy marriage of cookies and girl on girl.

Not much chance of that. Guide organizations around the world are pretty inclusive (allowing boys to join in most cases) and so are Scouts. The US Boy Scouts are the outlier for homophobic bible-bashing intolerance. It's the US branch of the boy scouts which is the exception to the rule, not the Girl Guides.

Interestingly, my mom was a Boy Scout in the US back in the 50s and 60s...she had 4 brothers, her dad was a scout leader, and so she was a scout. Left before Eagle for the Masons, but then, so did her brothers.

I wonder if such things still happen or not.

I was an unoffical Girl Scout for a while. My sister joined them like ten years ago, and our mom became a troop leader. Thus, I ended up going along as I couldn't just stay at home alone at that age.
