Should the United States become a dictatorship?

I know it was necessary to give an opinion, but I prefer instead to remind everyone to discuss with peace of heart and spirit, not emotionally, even though politics can be steeped in showbiz.

Thanks for reading this - if you think you're about to be blown away by someone's orthodox opinion, then it's better to listen to some music for a while and do something else to calm your turbulent emotions.

Personally, I find nothing inherently virtuous about democracy. It is a means, just like every other system of government, not an end in itself.

But it's been a decently effective means.

It's imperfect, but a regular old absolute monarchy/dictatorship is a whole lot worse.

I have my own ideas on how a psuedo-monarchy plus an overseeing body could work (they're used in my IC nation, detailed in a factbook, if you want to see them), but I don't think that we should revolt or anything like that to implement them. It's just a cool idea I had and I have no clue if it would actually work.

TLDR; no, but I only support democracy until somebody comes up with something better

Well you can’t have freedom of speech if it’s illegal to question the government. That’s not freedom of speech. So if you want freedom of speech then that means you can question and criticize the government freely

Think of all the paper wasted on ballots though! I mean it's not much compared to the fact that autocrats have incentive to not provide for their citizenry, but still.

It's simple. People who cheer for an authoritarian dictatorship do so under the assumption that such a government would support their own values and stances while suppressing the values and stances of their opponents.

Democracy is also good at providing safety, and it has more incentive to protect its people instead of neglecting them.

I cannot think of one single authoritarian dictatorship where I would feel more safe than... pretty much any other type of government.

No, absolutely not. Democracy, and the debate that comes with it ends up with a law or bill that is fair to all the people's interests in the country. A dictatorship while in theory could achive this, its highly unlikely.

Also, most dictatorships are in reality are an Oligarchy who would be interested in thier own interest than that of the people.
