Might be matter of opinion, but an outward opening door is safer than an inward opening one.

More than just opinion, that is why businesses are required the have outward opening doors. In an emergency, having to pull a door into the crowd of people trying to exit is difficult at best.

Well, sure, but the context was specifically a home invasion. There aren't crowds of holiday shoppers rushing my front door in a fire.

It's a lot harder to pull a security door open than it is to kick one in. In an outward facing door the frame braces the door.

But we digress

You win this round, having it turn into a debate over which way your front door should open is both new and will qualify as interesting. Don't spend your internet million in one place.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Right! The only limits on freedom that can be justified are if my actions harm another person, not if they make another person nervous that I might do something.

There is also the worry about debris inside the building. I a fire at your home, you can pretty much always pull the door outward, but debris from falling plaster and the like can block if you have it go inside.

Actually Disney is in the news, though not for anything they'd want to be in the news for. There may be a massive strike at Disney World later this year over insufficient pay raises.

Disney wants to keep their current raise of a dollar a year, the STCU wants three dollars right off because of the soaring COL in Central Florida.

Giving cast members free Disney+ subscriptions probably wasn't a good idea when you got 2 different versions of Newsies on there.

Yes, but rather an inwardly swinging door or an outwardly swinging door is safer, in the abstract, and in a private home, is hardly as clear cut as it was presented.

The first inevitable disaster after the strike was forced over really did swing for the fences. That mile wide explosion happens and this goes from movie of the week to major motion picture for the 'how the fuck did this happen' inevitable movie in 5 years.''

Also of course this is very sad and knowing full well what it's like to have to casually go about your day while a big ass fire is raging a short drive away. There are those that are in material danger or already injured or killed that obviously it sucks the most for but that 'just far enough' feeling is hard to describe. "If I drive 30-45 minutes north I'll end up in a fire bigger than the town I live in..."

How long is that contract?

Per the above linked article:
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the incident, 20 train cars were carrying hazardous materials and ten of those cars derailed.

Five of the ten derailed cars were carrying vinyl chloride, the NTSB said in a statement Saturday. The agency said it has “not confirmed vinyl chloride has been released other than from the pressure release devices.”

The cars involved were also carrying combustible liquids, butyl acrylate, and residue of benzene from previous shipments, as well as nonhazardous materials such as wheat, plastic pellets, malt liquors, and lube oil, according to the NTSB.
