I saw the videos, I just don't understand why this is a big event. Why would people celebrate this?

I was CTE'd at the time of the Drewpocalypse, but I can definitely tell the difference between before and after. Overall, I think it was a good thing for NS. Sure, it was catastrophic at the time, but those of us who arrived at the time and have decided to stay are (mostly) great people who never would've found NS otherwise.

Huh never knew it was from April 20th. Anyways I do appreciate all nations that came from drew durnil. I’m actually surprised that they never got banned and even if they didn’t got banned it’s not like the owners of these nations would care less about them. They likely CTE like a few months ago because the large majority of these nations are probably little kids.

I think you do, but my opinion is very subjective and it always has been. My rule is: if I see someone around the forums a lot and instantly know someone whenever I see their name, they're established to me. Of course, we hang around the same forums, so other people may not know you was well as I do.

Say maybe 1% of all new nations have delete-worthy names/fields/etc overall. 1% of 100 nations/hr is going to be a much smaller number than 1% of 10,000 nations/hr. But we'd never ban a bunch of innocent players for the "crime" of all joining at the same time. Just... the site might be laggy for a bit until the tidal wave subsides.

Also, holy fuck it's been a year already? I swear time has just been completely fucked up since the pandemic got going last year. I do think we had a higher level of player retention from the "Drewpocalypse" though; I mean, there was a decided die-off of short-lived nations about a month after the two videos, but I think that one-two punch of the first video and the followup a week later got more people who might otherwise have been a one-and-done login to check their nations again and poke around long enough for NS to get its hooks into 'em.

The Reddit and Imgur ones? Not much to elaborate on really. A Reddit thread about NS gained some traction and sent a flood of new nations in, and somebody got a post about NS to the front page of Imgur for a bit (for awhile there were a couple of users who were really good at manipulating Imgur that way to try and recruit for their region) that sent a flood of new nations in. Both were immensely dwarfed by the first Drew flood.

Looking at that, it would have been funny if you put “Drewpocalypse 2: Electric Boogaloo” instead of simply “Drewpocalypse 2”. Drewpocalypse: The Reawakening would have been a better name too.

I actually joined because of Drew's videos on NS. Not during the whole Drewpocalypse thing, though. I saw Drew's vid on CyberNations and was deciding on whether to join that game or NationStates. Glad I chose this game though, the community is nice ^‿^.

Cybernations seemed too serious anyway. NationStates is more laid back, I think.
