I’m honestly not really pissed that I got my vaccine early and didn’t get anything. Having protection from getting seriously sick from a virus that can kill was enough for me.

As a virus, I am not picky about the nationality of my hosts, or their attitudes. It is a little annoying when their pre-existing health problems cause their body to go haywire during my visit, but such is life.

The first dose is mild at best. All it did was make me tired which passed in about 12 hours. The second dose was one of the most miserable experiences of my adult life.

I personally found the second dose way easier than the first.

That's what I found. First time round, my joints flared up and I felt absolutely dreadful for a few days.

A lot of people, especially Americans, still believe that for young and healthy people it is just a flu. They are wrong but that's what they believe and you aren't going to get them vaccinated without incentive. My parents are in their early 60's and both say they wouldn't have bothered if not for the fact they want to travel abroad.

I would have got vaccinated no matter what but even in my case it was wanting to go to restaurants that made me call months back and be like "if you have AZ that people don't want I want it now" rather than just wait for Germany to open all the categories.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez on Thursday accused the U.S.-backed international financial system of blocking the country's access to Covid-19 vaccines under the COVAX program, even though Venezuela has paid all but $10 million of the $120 million it owes. Appearing in a televised address, Rodríguez said Venezuela was unable to pay the remaining $10 million because it was being blocked from transferring funds to the Switzerland-based GAVI Vaccine Alliance, which directs COVAX.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza tweeted a letter from COVAX stating that it "received notification from UBS Bank" that four payments, totaling just over $4.6 million, were "blocked and under investigation."

Arreaza said that "Venezuela has paid all of its commitments," adding that "the bank has arbitrarily blocked" the country's final payments and calling the situation "a crime."

The vice president and foreign minister's remarks follow accusations from Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro last week that "organizations of U.S. imperialism" are engaged in an effort to stop vaccine producers from selling doses to the country.

Oxygen crisis comes to Afghanistan

Oxygen is in short supply in Afghanistan as the country is battling a third wave of COVID-19 cases and its hospitals are being overrun.

Health ministry spokesman Ghulam Dastigir Nazari told The Associated Press that the government is working to install more oxygen supply plants in 10 provinces where up to 65 percent of people tested in some areas are positive for COVID-19.

According to the AP, Afghans are banging on the doors of suppliers, begging for their oxygen cylinders to be filled for suffering loved ones; however, the country is running out of cylinders as well, with Iran sending 900 on Saturday and Uzbekistan sending 1,000 last week. Afghans wait outside oxygen plants to get their tanks filled, as doing so costs roughly $5 there versus roughly $50 in the market, AP noted.

The reported case count is more than 100,000, and reported deaths number more than 4,000, but health officials say they're much higher.
