Kyrgyzstan loses 1,000 vaccines after a refrigerator was turned off to charge a cellphone

A clinic in Kyrgyzstan had to throw away nearly 1,000 doses of the Sputnik V anticovid-19 vaccine after a person turned off the refrigerator in which they were stored to charge his cell phone – local officials said.The now useless vaccines were part of a batch of 20,000 doses delivered as humanitarian aid by Russia to this poor country in Central Asia.

The vaccination campaign started in March and so far the Russian immunizer is more popular than that of the Chinese Sinopharm.

The incident took place in April at a public clinic in Bishkek, but it has only been reported. This delay sparked criticism of the government.

According to Health Minister Alimkadyr Beyshenaliyev, a maintenance worker may have been responsible for the error when looking for an outlet to charge his cell phone.

“If it is the fault of one of the staff, the cleaning lady, or someone else, the clinic will have to respond financially,” he told the press.

What pisses me the fuck off is that a lot of these folks call themselves “common good” conservatives, meaning that they’re critical of individualism and laissez-faire capitalist polices that the GOP have adopted the last couple of decades. However, during a pandemic, they refuse to wear a mask for the common good and they refuse to get vacationed for the common good. Even though mask wearing and more importantly, vaccines benefit them personally.

If you poke through the store reviews on Google Maps, you can find this one from five years ago from a customer complaining about her being racist to them too. So it's apparently not a new thing for her, she's just never managed to get international attention before.

It's not the full Holocaust experience, and I had no intention of implying that it was. Obviously we're not going to gas her or send her to a concentration camp.

But it is a lot more disruptive than being offered a vaccine.

CDC says summer camps can reopen

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday summer camps no longer need to require masks or social distancing if everyone is fully vaccinated, including the campers, in new guidance issued just ahead of the holiday weekend.

The new guidance says masks and social distancing are not required if everyone at the camp is fully vaccinated but said camps with unvaccinated campers or adults, including any camp for kids younger than 12 not yet eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, should still encourage or require masks indoors. The new guidance also recommends that even in camps where everyone is fully vaccinated, campers should be assigned to groups that remain together the entire session and mix with other groups as little as possible.

The updated CDC recommendations say people generally don't need to wear masks outside, unless they are in a crowded setting or coming in close contact with others. Walensky has previously cited unvaccinated kids playing soccer at camp as an example of an activity where close contact and breathing heavily could increase the risk of transmission.

But CDC says camps should still follow state or local health guidance and could choose to continue to require everyone to wear masks if it's unclear who is and is not fully vaccinated. Agency health experts said camps should encourage vaccination for everyone over 12 and should still support campers or adults who wish to wear masks.

Though personally, I think this is one of the more justifiable "cancellations." It's a recent event, not some tweet from 10 years ago that someone dug up. It's really obvious why it was obnoxious. I just can't bring myself to be upset on her behalf.

People do not buy that merely because an organisation states "yes, it's safe" that it is indeed so because in any other circumstance such medicines require years more trials, etc. in order to gain approval. I feel these are legitimate concerns and any citizen of a democratic state should be absolutely concerned when their government attempts to limit the unvaccinated from participating in society.

They had already started the development process before COVID even came about because people in the public health community were wigged out by SARS and MERS. The vaccines were put through clinical trials before being released to the general public.

So my parents just got their second dose, and now I am just hoping for the best. Now that is 3 out of 4 family members fully vaccinated - my parents, and my younger brother (being in National Service now helped).

Nice, just remember that it can take 2 weeks after the second vax for the body to be immunized.
