That's fair. Based on my experience, at least, that's why I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah it can see what you mean. Everybody is worried about “who’s president “ and while that’s important, local affects you immediately and affects you the most. So people tend to forget that.

Witiland wrote:So ever since I learned the words politics it has always interested me. Now I started my interest in 2016, although I’ll admit I believed everything that everyone said ( I supported trump because my dad did). I would say I really got super interested a couple months ago. When the pandemic personally affected me (school was made all virtual and my parents got sick with it) and Trump failed to control the spread, I sudd rly found myself watching CNN and the Covid-19 briefings everyday. I think I’m so interested by politics mainly because I enjoy history and and I wanted to create my own history. Now possibly in the mid 2040s/ early 2050’s I want to run for president. Of course I will have at least 20 years of experience in the senate, and 4 years in college. So what do you think? Any advice or comments?

Actually I would not be too surprised since some issues like global warming and such are becoming more bipartisan rather than being a party thing. Right now I’m a moderate Democrat who would be republican if they supported climate change and UBI

Before thinking about statewide office focus on learning local issues for county or municipal office. State legislature is also a good staring point.

Personally I'm not particularly for it or against it, all I care about is policy. If I had to choose between an asshole socialist and a well-mannered fascist I wouldn't have to think about it at all.
The thing is though, the people who care about policy are usually firmly entrenched on one side or another. The problem is the undecideds who are easily manipulated.
Anyway, I don't think Trump lost because he's a jerk, he lost because he spectacularly fucked up responding to a pandemic and the economic damage it caused.

The thing with state legislatures is most of them are part time positions so you have to own your own business or work for an employer who values the perceived influence ( generally banks and law firms).

I'd be an inspiring disaster. Probably resign right after the mid-terms, and for my parting speech sing the worst cover of House Of The Rising Sun that anyone has ever heard. Then shoot myself.
Being my VP would be a good gig though. You want it?

Exactly... abolish the electoral college and then we have a true democracy!

They don't forget, they just don't really care. It's depressing. Don't do that to yourself.
