Senators should act in the best interests of their country and state, necessarily in that order. Over the past few years we've seen them not do that in favor of partisan brinksmanship, this whole class of career politicians is incredibly petty and party-oriented. I want a new one.

This is a weird election, it's going to get weirder, and who wins the election will only matter insofar as it informs who wins the transition of power afterwards. We're not used to that because America has always had peaceful transitions of power tied closely to election results, but there's every reason to assume this one will be disputed.

Let the bastard dispute it. I'd love to see the USSS drag his orange ass out of there. Let his supporters riot. Then we'll see how loud the "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" crowd whines. Let them rage, let them cry, let them feel failure, frustration, and defeat. Let them scream, bitch, moan, and wail about it. It won't change the results.

And if Trump wins, there will be protests and riots again, like there were on 2016, and impeach Trump signs. It has been reported a lawyer for the Democrats, posted during that time, the impeachment of Trump begins now.

I don't know that, actually. They did it for Kavanaugh and the stakes are way higher this time. They're going to scour all the potential candidates for saucy dirt. This would be particularly easy if Trump sticks to his word and nominates Cruz or Cotton.

Though with Cruz it might be unanimous just so the Senators can finally be free of him.

The Democrats tried to destroy Kavanaugh for political reasons against him, with anything they could think of, so he would not become a US Supreme Court Justice, which he is highly qualified for.

This might prove to be the opportunity for a calculated move. McConnell can go back to his 2016 stance in an attempt to rev up the Republican base for Donald Trump, if he loses, then be a hypocrite and shove a justice during the lame duck.

A large number of our problems would be solved if Congress reassumed its old responsibilities instead of shoveling them onto the presidency or the courts.
