Well, Kavanaugh was tapped in July, but was confirmed in October. When the Democrats decide to make this hearing a circus, there's a (slim) possibility that it drags until after the election.

I would say that the country suffers when politicians adopt this sort of mentality.

Senators should act in the best interests of their country and state, necessarily in that order. Over the past few years we've seen them not do that in favor of partisan brinksmanship, this whole class of career politicians is incredibly petty and party-oriented. I want a new one.

Let the bastard dispute it. I'd love to see the USSS drag his orange ass out of there. Let his supporters riot. Then we'll see how loud the "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" crowd whines. Let them rage, let them cry, let them feel failure, frustration, and defeat. Let them scream, bitch, moan, and wail about it. It won't change the results.

And I'll fucking relish every minute of it.

And if Trump wins, there will be protests and riots again, like there were on 2016, and impeach Trump signs. It has been reported a lawyer for the Democrats, posted during that time, the impeachment of Trump begins now.

I don't know that, actually. They did it for Kavanaugh and the stakes are way higher this time. They're going to scour all the potential candidates for saucy dirt. This would be particularly easy if Trump sticks to his word and nominates Cruz or Cotton.

Though with Cruz it might be unanimous just so the Senators can finally be free of him.

Nah nominating Cruz in an election year is not a good idea as the democrats could take both Texas seats.

It’s gonna be Amy Barrett

The chances have increased, certainly, not least because I don't think I'm alone in saying that this signifies, for many on the left, the end of any hope or faith they may have still had in governmental institutions now that SCOTUS is well and truly Conservative and will remain so. Ideas like packing the court will now become mainstream in liberal circles out of sheer desperation.

I can't help but feel that if Trump and McConnell try to ram through a justice on the supreme court, it's gonna turbo-charge drive out on both sides. I also wouldn't be surprised if it winds up biting vulnerable senators like McSally, Gardner, Tillis, Collins, Ernst, etc in the ass big time.

I would just impeach and remove Kavanaugh, it's the most legitimate out of a series of increasingly illegitimate options.

The Democrats tried to destroy Kavanaugh for political reasons against him, with anything they could think of, so he would not become a US Supreme Court Justice, which he is highly qualified for.

Murkowski said she wouldn't confirm a justice until after the election according to the talkie box.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

This might prove to be the opportunity for a calculated move. McConnell can go back to his 2016 stance in an attempt to rev up the Republican base for Donald Trump, if he loses, then be a hypocrite and shove a justice during the lame duck.
