Not really a big deal, it's one of those places where plague is endemic among animals. I imagine there are at least a few cases every year.

It pops up pretty regularly in the Southwest deserts of the US. Only remarkable because of the current pandemic.

Oft times spread by armadillos and prairie dogs.
It's not new here.

We got some press when someone brought it back to NYC after a trip to the southwest back in 2002. The two tourists, who had been in New Mexico, were diagnosed and treated for it.

Bubonic plague is also endemic in the Western US, and a couple of other places. It never really went away.

This is unnecessary hysteria as this "outbreak" has so far infected one person and is endemic to many places in the world, furthermore, we have antibiotics to treat it.

There are daily cases every year in China, it's a common occurrence. Only reason you should be worried is if it spreads, usually with cases like this they quickly shut the area down for a few weeks and test everything just to make sure the place is clean, once it is they open it back up. I'm still worried about the Alien Invasion in September, I have enough canned food but I'm worried I don't have enough Bottled Water to last me.

Black Plague is treatable nowadays. It does go up from time to time but it's fine. But it's not really going to help Chinas bedspace any.
