I'm surprised English players don't play in other leagues such as Spain and Germany that often. Getting international experience in international clubs definitely helps towards strengthening your national team, although Spain didn't need to from 2008-2012 since they were just a glorified Barca squad.
Top teams usually have their players based on the national league, England with the Prem, Germany with the Bundesliga, Italy with the Serie A and Spain with La Liga, ofc there's a couple of players that play overseas but it's only very few of them, France usually has players playing in other leagues, that I can name, Mbappe is the only French superstar in the starting XI that actually plays in the Ligue 1.
