Sorry to hear. That’s sadly a very real consequence of getting CoVID19. A lot of people only talk about lung damage, but this virus can affect so many organs and systems... I’m really sorry you’re this affected and I do hope you can recover. :/

Thanks. i think the fall out of this will be with us for many many years.

I read that it will take the lung damage experienced while sick a while to heal. Some doctors claim it can be years.

Apart from the obvious good news for those people in particular, the T-cells seem to be very similar between SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2, in a way that's very different to the common cold coronaviruses. That is: it's likely that SARS-CoV-2 behaves more similarly to SARS-CoV-1 than to other coronaviruses, immunologically speaking, so it's very likely that SARS-CoV-2 immunity will be long-lasting in much the same way as SARS-CoV-1 immunity. There's also hints of significant amounts of these betacoronavirus T-cells in people with no contact with either SARS-CoV-1, strongly suggesting that there are unknown zoonotic coronaviruses in circulation making people immune (but presumably, without killing them, or we'd have noticed).

Does that mean that a SARS vaccine would work against Covid?

If we had one, probably (depending on the type of vaccine). Sadly, the funding for research rather dried up once SARS went away.

Yep, my mate who's a paramedic called when I was ill, he was keen to keep me out of hospital if there was a chance to do so. At the time only 66% or so came out once they went in :o .

Why is Rosie Perez part of Cuomo's press conference?

EDIT And Chris Rock?

"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

I called my state legislator and left a message about where the authority for all his regulations came from a week ago and they have yet to call me back. I think that's very telling.

It almost certainly will. The economic effects will last years. There is a decent chance as a result of this I leave New York. I know others who will likely do the same

Caught plain old pneumonia a couple years ago. Antibiotics stopped it pretty quick (after I got knocked on my ass by a high fever and mild delirium) but It took me several months just to get back to where I had been beforehand. Lost some 15-20 pounds in the two weeks I was sick, too. With that in mind, I have no problem trusting claims that recovering from the stuff this virus can/will do may be a years-long process. Just one of many reasons I'm terrified of it. :)

By the way: High fevers not at all a recommended experience. It's about what I imagine trying to walk while borderline blackout drunk is like... combined with sound constantly fading in and out, the occasional thing you're not sure you really saw or not, trouble understanding what others are saying, a sense of being doomed but unable to gather your mind well enough to freak out about it until much later, and feeling like you just came out of a swimming pool and decided to try air drying.

Had a really bad disease in 2018 that almost killed me in my apartment. I couldn't go out for a whole day, was bed bound, suffered horrible delirium and hallucinations, had a fever of 104 and threw up when I got out of bed. Not a fun experience. I'm guessing that's what COVID is like for those with weekend immunity.

I really don't think anything could be worse than that without being deadly. I'm pretty certain I narrowly dodged death, because it was hellish, and my body was so weak.
