The anxiety comes from having some of the symptoms. As for myself, I have allergies. Among them tree and grass pollen. Though it seems I may have had the virus in late March and anxiety came with those symptoms including fever & aches which lasted a week. This timing was after flu season had spiked (I had my flu shot last fall too). Unfortunately allergy season is going to make a lot of people ill at ease this year.

I'm almost as old as Farn... *shudders* ...so not going out anyplace. Don't need to and doctor said not to go but I have some masks in case. Good thing Costco delivers.

I do cut the grass and roam my property picking up sticks (not in that order). Also taking a drive around the neighborhood to keep the car running and wave at people walking dogs. The drive thru pharmacy window is the only destination I'll consider.

Not true. Stroke is how this virus kills young people, hell young people are dying of new strokes while trying to treat an old one caused by the disease. The old are dying of respiratory issues. There is a reason BARDA did not support the use of the two drugs, namely that they increase the risk of stroke, something that is already rather high due to this disease.

Riffing off a joke about how they look like candy a statistically insignificant number of kids bit one and since it conformed to the perpetual perception that 'kids these days are stupid' it became for a moment the defining feature of a generation. So the KCDC is reporting that the relapse cases are looking like the tests reacting to dead remnants of the virus, rather than a sign the patient has become infectious again.

I can relate to that. I have a runny nose. I've always had a runny nose! The damn thing could enter the Olympics, especially this time of years. It's no different this year, except that this year, I keep asking myself if it's Covid.

It's actually not a bad idea. You want to keep the number of people in public at any one time down below some threshold so that social distancing is nice and easy. If no more than, say, ten thousand people are out at once, then there probably won't be any big crowds forming. So, how to accomplish that? Well "out in public" isn't exactly a small area that the government can easily control access to. It's not like bouncers at a night club where they can count people coming in and going out. Best thing is to assign everyone a time when they're allowed out. But how to assign those times? Well everyone obviously knows their own age, and further dividing it by sex will half the number of people again. Convenient arbitrary categories.

My problem with this, besides segregation, is that PR’s government is not accounting for exceptions to things, and there are. Let’s say you’re a single dad, you have two kids. One of your kids is an infant that needs formula. You’re obviously their provider, you’ve been working a lot and you come home one afternoon to realize you’re out of formula (happens, we’re living stressful times). Your infant needs that formula. But since you’re a man and that day is not your day out, what will you do? You can’t go out. If you do, you’ll be detained, fined a hefty sum (some fines there fluctuate between $1K and $5K) and possibly arrested. Ditto with single mothers and I’m sure it’ll apply to the elderly too. And I know you’ll say “well what about family?” What if their family isn’t close by? Perhaps a neighbor might help but it’s doubtful. To me the license plate number restriction felt more equitable. This suggestion however? Knowing the clusterfuck a minimal change can cause in PR, it’s going to backfire monumentally.

Some allowances are obviously required rather than it being a hard and fast rule.

For the time being, America and Australia must lead the investigation. Getting to the truth behind the pandemic's origins and China's mishandling of it is the end goal. Once the facts have been ascertained, we can discuss lawsuits and sanctions against China, and reparations to affected countries. China must be made to pay, quite literally.

I don't know, but whatever we do, it should be something that will actually have positive results, not just international trolling.

China has been trolling the whole world, especially Hong Kong, Taiwan, and its own people, for decades. International trolling is the least China deserves.

I don't care what China "deserves", I care about what will actually help.

I'll say again that it is not remotely likely that any response by the Chinese government could have prevented the spread of the virus beyond their borders. SARS-CoV-2 is highly contagious and can go weeks without showing symptoms. What do you think China should have done, quarantined their whole nation two weeks before they even knew this virus existed?

This sounds very much like CCP propaganda to me, and it stinks. Maybe the CCP should allow foreign inspectors to freely investigate Wuhan and Hubei province if they want us to believe they're not to blame for this pandemic? Until then, we have every right to cast doubt on their dubious narrative of heroism and self-sacrifice, and how anything critical of the CCP and the WHO must be a racist conspiracy theory.

This will happen again whether you punish anyone or not. Punishment doesn't stop bad things from happening.

It's not about bringing back the dead or even deterring future offenses. It's about justice and accountability.

I would love for the government of China to be accountable to the people of China, but that's not really on the cards at the moment. And if you're not interested in preventing future pandemics than I don't think your input is worth anything, to be quite frank. I care more about saving human lives than sticking it to China.

I really don't like blaming the people who listen to Trump when there are absolutely vast media enterprises dedicated to boosting him. These people are victims of a scam. Incomprehensible resources have been deployed to get them to think than Donald Trump is actually a very smart man, and it's worked. It feels unfair to belittle people who have essentially gone up against the right wing media empire and lost, especially when there by for the grace of the gods go I. Much as I might like to think myself intelligent, and obviously I do, I can't honestly believe that I actually have a superior brain or something like that. I've just lucked into some advantages that "stupid" people have lacked. I can't see through the bullshit of Trump and Fox because I have a higher IQ or anything like that. I have been taught their tricks, and been in a position to accept that teaching, and been influenced by people I respected to internalise that teaching.

Honestly, no. I get you’re trying to be fair but in this instance that’s not the case nor is it about IQ. Just because someone tells you to jump off a cliff and promises you’ll fly, you’ll do that. Right? I think your common sense would dictate you not to do that because 1) you can’t fly, and 2) self-preservation. You know that if you fall from a great distance you’ll more than likely get seriously hurt or die.

Just because someone suggests you inject bleach to treat a disease does not cancel the warnings you and I and these people are perfectly aware of, and have grown up with, about the hazards of ingesting, or injecting such a substance into a human body. They’re right on the labels on the bottles. They also contain instructions on what to do if the substances fall in your eyes as well as contacting your local poison control center.
