Eh, Iam Dutch, we do not have local and state officials, and my PP has voted to outlaw it.
I just mean I wish I was a religious official.
Anyhow, back on topic:
I am happy I get to work on my book today.

I'm confused as to why anyone would buy it though, because it seems like it costs about ten times the equivalent volume of actual Guinness that you could just take a whiff of.

Ah, well, I have an answer for this now.
Watching the documentary again, they keep describing the site as 'Tanis' and in 'the desert outside Cairo'; and clearly the site that the Nazis are excavating is primarily from the peak of the New Kingdom. In real life, Tanis is in the lush Nile Delta, not too far (as you point out) from the modern Canal, and primarily dates from the Third Intermediate Period and Late Period.
Knowing that Raiders is in fact a documentary helps us identify that 'Tanis' in the film is not supposed to be the actual Tanis, but was rather chosen to obscure the site of ancient Heliopolis, a major centre of worship of the sun god (hence the Greek name) Atum/Ra that was occupied through most of Ancient Egyptian history, and is today located in the outer eastern Cairo suburb of Ain Shams - which is Arabic for 'Eye of the Sun'. The connection between the Greek and modern Arabic names of the city and one of the key points of the documentary involving my manipulation of sun's rays hardly needs to be explained further.
It was courteous of Spielberg, Lucas, and Kasden to change the name of Heliopolis to 'Tanis' in order to obscure the actual site, and avoid the type of looting that I'm sure we would all condemn. And knowing that they've transposed the name of Tanis to the actual site of Heliopolis helps to explain away that gnawing great big plot hole of what an experimental Nazi airplane is doing so close to the British-controlled Suez Canal in 1936. It's actually much closer to Cairo, where British security no doubt welcomed the opportunity to spy on and study the latest Nazi technology.
So all sorted, then.

This is a thread for posting and discussing nothing but good news, or something that's cheered you up recently. It doesn't need to be national or international news of any particular significance; it can just be something that makes you happy. It doesn't even have to be sunshine, daisies, or lollipops. Come to think of it, in the wrong hands lollipops could be creepy.
Discussion of coronavirus or any topic relating to COVID-19 is specifically banned in this thread (though we'll usually let pass things like 'while I was in quarantine, this really made me smile'; we're happy that something made you smile while you were quarantined). You will also do your best to stay positive and supportive about things that cheer other people up.
(Yes, yes.... I know there's no thread ownership in NSG, but assume that I'm openly abusing my moderator powers in order to help cheer you up; you will be happy whether you like it or not, dammit; if it doesn't work, I'll just lock the thread).

The Easter Bunny comes hopping by, if you believe in that stuff. I mean, it's Easter and I did Easter eggs.
So, to get us started.....
Last night I watched the film Mindhorn, about a washed-up actor who once played an Isle of Man-based detective with a truth-detecting bionic eye in a terrible 1980s television programme, and has to recreate his most famous role in order to help solve a murder.
It's passingly amusing, but I did really like setting the start of the climactic chase sequence at a deliberately crap island parade; I laughed. It was a rare film of its type where the end of the film was likely better than the opening (though there were good early cameos from Kenneth Branagh and Simon Callow). So for 80 minutes this cheered me up tremendously.
What's cheered you up lately?
