Many in China frankly do not care, but those with even slightly different opinions from the government should watch out because they are being monitored by the government. Also there is the oppression of Uighurs, Tibetans, Hong Kongers and their desires for greater autonomy, return to regular life or independence. Though the examples given by you are apt for this, the difference between them and China is that they (France and the US) no longer do it anymore. China actively does this in the modern day. The other two governments aren't trying to cover up the fact that they did this and that, China however is doing that.
