Thankfully he's in Louisiana studying, miles apart. Apparently there's been a ghost outbreak there. Half his class started developing symptoms at around the same time, himself included, just a few days ago, and they're thinking of cancelling classes and shutting down the school too, same old same old. He's been studying there for several months now so who knows who or where they picked it up from.

I don't know, the person I care most about who could possibly be affected by the NBA season going ahead is James Harden, second is Russell westbrook, then we have Robert Covington, Austin Rivers, p.j. Tucker, Eric Gordon, Danuel House, Ben Mclemore, DeMarre Carroll, Tyson Chandler, Jeff Green, and Bruno Cabaclo. None of whom I know personally, so the NBA being cancelled is a net loss for me I think.

I honestly don't understand why your posting style isn't considered trolling.

The post I quoted was an appeal to affection for our loved ones, but mine could not be affected by sports going ahead in far away countries, so I listed the entirety of the regular Houston rockets roster because they are the players I care about getting infected if the NBA goes ahead. The way I see it really though is that the people who are worried about their loved ones being infected by coronavirus won't go to a sporting event, so keeping it going has very little effect, as the majority would avoid them anyway most likely.

You can be social without being crammed into a massive crowd of people in a stadium. As far as I know there haven't been any bans on going to bars, restaurants or other places unless it's really serious, and even then you could just get together at home or at a park or any number of other places.

I've got nothing against precaution. My wife is in healthcare, specifically serving vulnerable populations. This virus has changed little for me because the precautionary measures are largely things I already do(proper handwashing, disinfecting, avoiding the sickies, etc.). Considering the kinds of nastiness my wife could potentially bring back from work(MRSA, for example), Wuhan Coronavirus is barely a blip to me.

I think you'll be absolutely fine in that case. This coronavirus itself, for all of the mystery regarding its origins and its high mortality is still just a respiratory infection so the same protocols against spreading the cold or flu work well here as well. In reality, the vast majority of activity is totally unaffected with proper precautions, it's really just mass gatherings of people in close spaces that pose a threat.

I have a personal stake in this because my mom has been on immune-suppressing drugs for rheumatoid arthritis for the past few years and my dad is getting older so I want to make sure she's protected. I also have some close friends from my parish who are older that I want to keep safe from this as well.

Hey, my ma has RA too so I do share that concern. She's in her fifties now, too, so I worry about her health already. Wuhan Coronavirus could be deadly to her but so could...pretty much any bacterium or virus. So I'm worried about her but not that much more than usual.

My rule of thumb is to never buy flavored vodka. You can always flavor it later. I've been burned too many times.

Once during a security-related lockdown in college I had a life altering experience with a half handle of strawberry vodka and Coke Zero. I still get shivers thinking about it.
