"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Tell me more about it. What was it in? What is an mos? And what do you mean had?

By year five/six if you're not completely over university you're an outlier.

That is the entire question the OP asks you to consider.

The poll itself is only concerned with qualifications. Note that it has a different question to the thread title's question.

For anyone who doesn't know our quirky system, level 6 the equivalent of 3 years post-high school.

I put a graph in the OP to help people with this.

Well, I mean, it'd help people familiar with the EQF most but it does have the relative placement of stuff.

I've been an academic outlier in a lot of ways throughout my life, so I wouldn't be surprised. Taking classes in two totally different majors and doing research on subjects that I have a strong passion for keep it interesting.

Your postgraduate studies are unlikely to be like that. Formal Education is the march of specialisation. Even if you're able to do something that's technically multiple things... e.g. bioscience enterprise... that thing is still the only thing you're doing.

I'm aware. I'm just saying that it will still be varied enough by that point that I'm very unlikely to lose interest.
edit: Whoops, just noticed that I'm being too vague. By "that point," I mean at the end of my 5-6 years of undergraduate studies.

I tried having conversations with native English speakers before learning English and it was already a problem. It would be much worse on NSG.

It would, indeed.

My father came to the US in 1920, speaking no English. I asked him once what the first words he learned were and he wouldn't tell me, they were not fit for a child's ears.

Considering a funsies masters, but I've no need for additional professional degrees, and I'm not sure I qualify for masters programs in the areas in which I am interested.

I have a Juris Doctor which is technically a doctorate. You might want to change PHD to Doctorate to be more broad as there are several degrees that are doctorates but not PHDs.

Sorry, but in NZ the JD is worth no more than a BA (or, rather, an LLB)... it falls at level seven. Don't worry... MDs are also only bachelor's.

That's fascinating... a MA from, say, Harvard or even MIT is worth less than an MA from AUT if we take that literally. The former is worth no more than my PGDip (level 8 both) whereas the latter is a level 9 qualification. I suppose one could always appeal.
