I wear a company ball cap when at work in the summer. A pith hat when out in the sun. A company beanie when at work in the winter. Or a safety helmet, if you count that as a hat.
And outside of work I have various ball caps, a Stetson, a beret, and an ushanka, depending on weather and activity.

I have a straw trilby and a panama hat for summer to stop my bald head getting skin cancer. In winter I wear a black thermal watch cap, and when it gets really cold a brown ushanka.

I have a gray Tirolean hat made of felt, a black beanie with the three arrows on it, and after my recent holiday in Portgual I have a cork baseball cap with an azulejo design on it. I'm thinking of getting myself a cowboy hat next.

I'm more likely to wear a baseball cap in the summer, at baseball games and other extended outdoor things.

Visors at the beach, simply to help cut glare, especially when in the water and wearing sunglasses is not terribly convenient.

I rarely wear hats in the winter. I'm rather infamous for losing hats and gloves pretty much immediately, for some reason. However, the normal close fitting ski-cap in either black, a matching color to my current winter coat, or a contrasting color to my winter coat is what I choose. Till I lose it.

If I am to be out in the sun a long time without a hat, I make sure to spray sunscreen onto my hair's part so my scalp doesn't get burned.

I prefer to wear a wide-rimmed hat if I have to wear one. If I feel like being myself, though, I'll put up my hood or wear a baseball cap or a beanie.

I have a variety of flat caps/drivers caps whatever you like to call them. The one I'm wearing the most right now is a brownish one. I have a thicker one I tend to wear in the winter. Can't find the white one I wear in the summer because it's thinner and breaths. There's a faux leather one I stopped wearing because it becomes stiff and uncomfortable.

I had a black straw fedora that was destroyed by neglect that I kind of liked to wear in the summer. I'm even in a movie wearing it.

I had a black pork pie, lost it. Now I have a tan pork pie I wear now and then. Mostly when busking.

Had a green kind of pork pie, not really sure what the style is. Wore it at my brother's wedding. Got crushed in my car during a move.

For work I wear a boonie hat with snaps to hold the flaps up, previously I would just use the chin chord to hold the sides up. Because sometimes the work I'm doing requires me to wear big headphones but also be out in the sun for a really long time. Plus it was like $7 so if it gets dirty or knocked around it just ends up looking better.

I use to wear a bucket hat a lot. For some reason that just fell out of favor. I shaved my head, I think I liked the long hair and bucket hat combo and without it it didn't feel right.

Long, loooooong ago I use to wear a bowler. I miss the me that just rocked a bowler and didn't care that people thought it was silly.

I like pork pies more than they look good on me. But I like them so I keep having one on hand.

I want a John Bull top hat, the sort of lowrise top hat like Johnny Depp wore in Dead Man. I know this because every time I look for a John Bull top hat, the results are mostly selling me the Dead Man top hat. I haven't found one that fits or looks right. But also, I'm not dressed to support a top hat most of the time, so it's hard to tell. Saw a dude rocking a top hat, sort of a cross with a John Bull and a western top hat in the...whatshisname...Slash, that guy...wearing it in the Slash vein, long curly hair and everything. Not really the direction I want to go but thumbs up for rocking a top hat on a Saturday afternoon at a Coffee Bean.

I don't like baseball caps. Though for convenience I wore one for a bit.

On a lark I bought some eastern European or something, can't remember what the tag said, anyway, one of those hats that has flaps that button up over the top that can be folded down over the ears and under the chin. I wear it on cold days when I'm feeling goofy. I live in the LA area so that's like every couple years. I also have a cadet hat that I wear when I don't feel like the boonie but also am going to get the hat messed up. Because it was also $7. All of those make me look way more like a military fanboy than I am but fuck it, they have some okay hats. Plus I like green.

I live with Canadian winters,so a toque in the fall, winter and early spring. Don’t wear hats at all indoors as I find it to be bad manners. Sometimes I wear a sun hat in the summertime to keep the sun away.Don’t wear sports caps as i’m not into sports that much, save swimming and bowling.

In winter, I have a wool cloche hat in the same colour as my winter coat. I also have a beanie, but I rarely wear it.

In summer, I burn really ridiculously easily so, if I'm going out for the day (for example, to the coast), I'll wear a sunhat (not too wide-brimmed) that goes with what I'm wearing and shades my face and neck. And factor 30.

Hi Jim the Baptist, and welcome to General. It's great to see some new users really learning the ropes around here - speaking as a member of the veteran, Nationstates elite, I can say that we are thoroughly, thoroughly impressed with your effort, enthusiasm, and choice of hat.

In regards to your question, there are a few different types of hats that I'll entertain from time to time. For relaxed, sunny days, I have a black floppy. It sits comfortably around my crown but the brim is still broader than your typical bucket hat.

For more formal occasions, this is when I like to bring out the Grey Stiff. This hat has a broad brim, and sits on top of my head at a slight forward angle. This hat provides me with the confidence to successfully navigate most business meetings and blind dates.

At all other times, except for when I am sleeping (in which case I would use a sleeping cap), I choose to wear my maroon baseball cap, with the Arsenal football team's logo embroiled on the front. This cap has certainly seen better days, but I believe its experience adds character and playfulness.

All the best.

I can't remember the last time I was wearing a hat, honestly. :p Not even a baseball cap. I mean, for the most part, I don't need a hat, unless it's either heavy rain, snowing, cold, or a combination. And even then, I have a winter jacket with a hoodie, so I don't need winter hats either.

If I wear a hat at all, it's a gray baseball hat thing for work. It's whenever I've been too busy to get a haircut.

I don't usually wear a hat, but I do have a couple that I'll wear occasionally when it makes sense with my outfit and/or the weather.

One is a green cap with a little brim and a strap in the front, but not all the way around. I'm not sure exactly what the style is called.

Another is one of those knit hats to keep warm in the winter with blue, gray, and orange stripes.

I might wear hats more often if it wasn't awkward to wear them with my hair up. If it's really cold and I don't want my hair loose, I'll braid my hair and then wear the winter hat over the braids.
