If you haven't heard, this battle is over. It's now second referendum and remain, on the grounds that the soft-Brexit compromise is no longer something either side is prepared to tolerate.

Corbyn was initially doing the whole high ground unite the country shit and didn't catch the mood in the room that this was full blown Kulturkampf. This was the "We'll do the common market Plus deal."

Following this failing to appeal to brexiteers and his own party getting pissy it turned into gradually inching toward second referendum.

i thought it was second referendum and remain unless labour secures its own deal in which it might advocate for that but also possibly not??? in my eyes he's still holding out for his stupid fucking customs union because he's a lexiter.

Truly a sign of the dark times to come upon this nation when the UK politics thread isn't OPed by Arch. :p

EU needs to crush UK otherwise other people will try to escape. If we bend the knee and beg forgiveness, they will destroy us. Our only chance of survival is to escape. EU's only chance of survival is to punish us so severely that no-one else will dare to leave.

You know, a really easy way for us to avoid having to beg for forgiveness or get punished, or to make the EU feel like crushing us... would be to revoke article 50 and stay.

Nah he's been forced into second referendum and remain under any circumstances.

I'm pretty sure McDonnell made him do it because he seemed kind of sulky and McDonnel was doing eyes of doom at him then clapped like a madman when it finally happened and seemed to commiserate him.

Corbyn has also said it, trying to find it.

The shadow home secretary said her party was now supporting a Final Say vote – even on a deal that Labour has negotiated.

It has previously said it would only want a public vote on a Conservative deal or to avoid a no-deal exit.

I got it slightly wrong there then.

They're a second referendum party prepared to try and negotiate a Brexit and offer a referendum on a Labour deal, but will campaign to remain and second referendum under a Tory deal.

It just makes you wish for a forum where you could gather the governments of various friendly European nations to negotiate common solutions to mutual problems. Pool our resources, streamline solutions and get us all focussed on the bigger picture. It would be super helpful in presenting a united front. You know, like a union of European nations.

You're ashamed of supporting Corbyn because the UK might fall apart but you support Brexit?

Do you have any idea of what Brexit is likely to end up with?

The first part of my post and the second weren't linked, sorry it probably came across that way: I don't support the UK staying together. I have supported Scottish independence before 2016.

How can so many voters not care about this sort of thing. I know politics are all about aesthetics and emotionality and all the virtue signalling about rational debate and competence is just fluff, but good gawd, how can a sizeable portion of a country's population knowingly choose to be represented by someone who publicly admits not knowing their own job.

Why this defeatism? Why this negativity?

Oh my gawd shut the bloody hell up you peroxide buffoon. It's not defeatism or negativity. He's pointing out that your plan has holes in it. It's constructive criticism.

I voted remain in 2016, but looking at the situation now, if there were a second referendum I'd probably vote leave. This has all gone far too far to have it not happen, and frankly no remain campaign would have enough traction to win anyway. It's a fucking mess, but there aren't any brakes on this train. The best we can hope for here is that the Tories make a complete foul-up of it (no worries there), and that it delivers Labour a solid majority in 2022. We lost our shot at toppling this government in by-elections when the CUKs threw away any hope of their re-election, meaning they'd never vote against the government in a confidence motion.

To be clear: This is all Nick Clegg's fault. The FTPA has deeply, deeply ruined politics by artificially maintaining this zombie government since Corbyn killed it in 2017.

In other words, plunge Britain off the cliff, hope to hell democracy survives somehow in ways that defy logic, then hopefully take over.

Fancy suicide you got there.

This business about a British frigate having to force Iranian boghammers off the British Heritage tanker is obviously disconcerting, obviously a result of our stupid intervention in Syria, in which we have totally failed to overthrow President Assad, and instead expended considerable resources and effort into turning Syria into a nightmare.

Our national interests are above all the protection of our sea lines of communication, since we are an island. Therefore the naval service should be the government's first priority since the sea is our first national interest, but we also need to stop rubbing our nose into regime change in countries our media has taken a five-minute-interest in, and our foreign policy should try to make friends or at least partners, rather than limitless enemies.

(2) No nationalism without internationalism, no internationalism without nationalism. (SOEKARNO)
(3) I only follow one party: the Vietnamese party. (BÁC HỒ)
