The point is that it'll be a lot harder to get a no confidence vote or a delay through if there's practically no time to do so. Even with conference season upon us, the few days in session would've made all the difference.

Johnson is going to suspend Parliament next week. It hasn't been suspended yet and will be sitting on Tuesday.

Note that there's a legal challenge to this going on in Scotland, and they're currently applying to move the hearing from the 6th of September to this Friday. Obviously, whatever the result is, it will be immediately appealed to the Supreme Court. The plan is for the court to order the Government to ask the Queen to cancel the order proroguing parliament.

Alternative plan: first thing on Tuesday, they pass a Benn-Burt Amendment-style bill requiring Parliament to sit every day between then and the end of the prorogation period, despite being prorogued.

Or rather to force through a No Deal Brexit with no democratic mandate.

Vass, I hate to tell you this but democracy is the reason why this is happening.

You see, there was a democratic referendum on Brexit and the majority of those who voted decided to leave.

Cool. So you won't mind proving how many of those voted for this. A non-binding referendum is not a blank cheque.

The Queen did the right thing and allowed the prorogation.
There aren't good reasons for her to break precedent and deny prorogation because the agreed dates still allow a determined parliament to pass a vote of no confidence, or to pass fast-track legislation(don't forget that parliament can also sit on any day of the week if it wants to), until prorogation...

:lol2: You seriously want me to prove that a majority of those who voted voted to leave the EU?

Would you also like to me to prove that hot water can burn you?

A non-binding referendum is not a blank cheque.

It provides him with a popular mandate to leave the EU which you're conveniently pretending like he doesn't have.

I want you to prove that the majority voted for the scenario we are faced with. I want you to prove that the people who voted Leave in the name of restoring the Sovereignty of Parliament voted to have that sovereignty squished by the government the second it became inconvenient. I want you to prove that the people who voted to restore the independence of the Courts voted for the Mail's ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE shtick.

Voting to leave the EU isn't the same as voting to force through a no deal Brexit against the wishes of Parliament.

It provides him with a popular mandate to ... leave the EU, but without a deal? That's not what was advertized by the Leave campaign. So it does not give him a popular mandate to do what he does...

Ah, I see you're still struggling with reading comprehension.

What I said was the majority of those who voted voted to leave
Which... is pretty easily proviable.

You're asking me to prove something I never claimed, which is par for the course for you.
