The point is that it'll be a lot harder to get a no confidence vote or a delay through if there's practically no time to do so. Even with conference season upon us, the few days in session would've made all the difference.

Note that there's a legal challenge to this going on in Scotland, and they're currently applying to move the hearing from the 6th of September to this Friday. Obviously, whatever the result is, it will be immediately appealed to the Supreme Court. The plan is for the court to order the Government to ask the Queen to cancel the order proroguing parliament.


Alternative plan: first thing on Tuesday, they pass a Benn-Burt Amendment-style bill requiring Parliament to sit every day between then and the end of the prorogation period, despite being prorogued.
