gonna make this realllly simple for those who still have this question.

It is not racist to have preferences in dating. Anybody who does think this is a backwards thinking individual whos IQ is well below room temp. Allow me to explain, since most would consider this insensitive:

Love is a very powerful thing. There are a handful who say that love doesnt discriminate and those people are living under a rock. I will tell you right now that i myself have a rather strict preference. While i have never had the chance to say that i have had a girlfriend (still trying for #1), my dream woman is a beautiful Japanese girl straight from the home islands, who's intelligence matches or supersedes my own. I, who am from Germany, and have no Asian blood in my body, have an attraction to women of another race/culture. Who are you to tell me who to love or who to date? How dare i like that girl instead of that white chick or that black man right? No, not how it works. I refuse to date a woman who is deeply religious because i dont like the idea of religion ruling my private life, especially as an atheist man. Yes, i have a preference in religion, does my preference there make me a bad person? No, and it never will. The fact that people still ask this question is rather annoying, because it is just plain stupid. I am going to assume this question comes from somebody who lives in the US, because the US just had this issue rather recently, and its the only nation who really makes a big deal out of this (again) stupid argument. Let me iterate that i am in no way calling you (the person asking the question) stupid, i am calling the *issue* stupid.

Look, if you are an Asian woman asking out a white man and that white man doesnt like you because you arent his type, thats not racism, thats just our natural feelings as man and woman. If a man asks a woman out and she says she doesnt like you because she likes girls, does that make her sexist to men? I mean c'mon, lets not keep asking this question when there are other questions out there that need to be solved.

In conclusion, again, this rather long winded post is my way of saying no: You cant call the feelings of human beings racists for liking one race/ethnicity over another. Its just not how it works, and the faster we (as a people) can learn this, the faster we can move forward to a more pressing matter.

you can't control what you do and do not find physically attractive. I don't think it should be considered racist, as long as you are being honest with yourself. treating people of all races and ethnicities with respect, fairness, and civility is a very different thing then wanting to get romantic with all of them.

When it comes to ethnic that's cultural thing, I can understand wanting to date somebody from the same or even similar cultures.

Racial? Well you can preferences that align themselves with race that might as well be racial, but that's not strictly so. For example white people aren't the only ones with green eyes, and even if you like a specific phenotype that seems like it only applies to one race you may be surprised how somebody outside that box may match it.

So I think that people may have attraction to somebody from a similar background, which correlates with ethnicity, and I think people may be attracted to certain phenotypes that correlate to race, so they might a well say that they have this/that preference, but if somebody from outside that box matches it and they aren't racist then it isn't a problem. But it seems to me that when it comes to the people who are adamant about not being racist but only being attracted to such and such race there's usually something unsavory behind it.

Paedophiles can't control what they do and don't find attractive either, but that doesn't make them not paedophiles. Having any kind of preference along racial lines is a form of racism, however you try to justify it. Mostly, it's not a big deal. The problem is when people are vocal about it, or it seeps into the media and people of certain ethnicities are portrayed as being more or less attractive.

This is a relatively unpopular/controversial assertion - do you care to explain? Personally I have my own opinions about the topic, but I'd be interested to hear yours.

And for the record, it is not racist to find people of a certain race or ethnic background more attractive. Part of it I feel is uncontrollable and has to do a lot with whom you're surrounded by most and potentially even what race or ethnic background you are. Most of the girls I've found attractive have been white (though I'm also white and live in a country that's about 70% white), though there have been Hispanic, black, and Asian girls I've thought were hot too.

I wouldn't call it racist, but I would say you should ask yourself why you don't find certain ethnicities attractive. I think people can be subconsciously affected by their culture and media to find certain races attractive. I think this is improving though.

I wouldn't call it racist, although I don't have a ethnic preference, I personally don't find overweight girls attractive. I know that it's a subconscious bias informed by how society judges beauty but I can't help it. I wouldn't say I am fatphobic in my general life, and if you do have a preference ethnically it doesn't make you racist, you are probably just influenced by how society judges beauty, just like me.
